Dirtbag of the Week: Man Robs Kids’ Lemonade Stand

By Doug Powers  •  July 22, 2010 09:53 AM

**Written by Doug Powers

There’s a special place in hell for somebody who would rob some kids’ lemonade stand, isn’t there?

From the Detroit Free Press:

Calls offering donations have come in from as far away as Colorado and Cincinnati for a group of girls whose Pontiac lemonade stand was robbed Sunday afternoon.

The outpouring has been overwhelming — and a great lesson after a man ran off with the girls’ Mickey Mouse jewelry box and $40 in proceeds, mom Danielle Behan said Wednesday.

Behan’s 9-year-old daughter, Serena Inglsbee, Serena’s 8-year-old twin stepsisters, Savannah and Corrine Aldrich, and Aleyce Guerra, 6, the granddaughter of Behan’s fiancé, were robbed about 3:30 p.m. as they sold lemonade.

Like it’s not hard enough to do business in Michigan.

Now that the time and place of the grand re-opening of the lemonade stand has been announced, the kids’ first customers might be from the IRS.

These kids had made $40 selling lemonade? I’d recommend appointing them to the president’s economic advisory board, but they’re already way too overqualified. The guy who robbed them, however, would be perfect for the job.

And this is the country in which (we have long been told) down-and-out people are helpless and need the government to step in because their fellow citizens won’t do a thing for them. I wonder how many of those donors were heartless, greedy, racist, etc., Republicans?

There is no way to prove it, but you just know the robber is a Democrat supporter. Specifically, an Obama supporter.

At that age, it doesn’t matter if something cost 50 cents at a rummage sale – if you love it, you love it.

That girl will never have another Mickey Mouse box “just like” that one (unless they somehow recover the one that was stolen).

All of them, the dems that were touched by this story would have demanded Congress pass a special appropriation bill to replace the money and follow it up with a study on the crime statistics perpetrated on lemonade stands. Total cost to the taxpayers? $10,300,040.00 less the income and self employment taxes imposed on the $40.

I was thinking more of another place…hell! But Guantanimo will do for a start.

Now, I really love Chris Christie and he would be a dynamite leader for our country. I do have a problem with his obesity. I don’t mean that as a nasty or judgemental comment. I know the health problems associated with overweight and we need a healthy POTUS!! The rigors of that office is only for the FIT. Yeah, yeah, I know Clinton was a bit chubby…but Christie is seriously overweight and I worry about him. He is too good a man to be lost because of that! I hope he will be able to overcome it. I have struggled with weight problems all my life so I am very sympathetic towards his problem

As the only child of two once-previously-married parents (only child they had together, that is), with two half brothers and three half sisters, and whose father adopted my mother’s two children when he married her, I have to agree with your “what of it” statement.

A crime was committed against a kid who just wanted to sell lemonade. That’s the point.

I think it’s pretty obvious that rural children are disadvantaged in that regard. we should form a commission to investigate and suggest remedies to make up for the huge capitalistic advantage those inner city kids have.

I will gladly offer to chair the commission. Now if I can just get a federal grant…

Well it’s embarrassing when girl scouts make more money than Government Motors, so I’m guessing the “robber” was simply a member of the Obama administration providing “fairness” for all the businesses in Michigan that didn’t make $40 last week. Which I’m guessing could be a majority of them.

The robber was just expressing the attitude of the current administration. Taking from those who produce to give to those who only consume is a time honored leftist principle. They have no respect for such old fashioned values like “thou shalt not covet” or “thou shalt not steal” — unless, of course, someone does it to them.
