This is a throwback to his upbringing when mooslums bowed to everyone as a courtesy. He can’t break the habit. I really don’t think it means a thing, but is just habit. It does demean him, but who cares? More and more people are losing any respect for him anyway.

Maybe it’s me, but that AF Master Sgt in the picture has a look of complete disgust on his face while he’s watching the bow wow. Heh, can’t blame him.
Seeing him bow to Chirstie shows me that he just bows whenever he shakes hands with people. Its a tactical move that on the surface shows humility. I say its a tactic because we know this man is not humble, so he must do this as a passive agressive way to disarm people.
The interesting this to me in this pic is Christie. Head high, eyes up, firm grip. I hope my son grows up to greet people with this type of assured confidence.
Can’t get worked up on this one. It looks as though they were sharing a good laugh. (This is not in the lamentable category of the bows to the King of Saudi Arabia or the emperor of Japan.)
Happyscrapper (#2), it is very common to bow in the Orient, although not that low–especially for adults with important positions. A slight bow with the handshake would be correct in Korea, for example, without any subservience implied.

My initial impression before I saw the photo was that obama must be bowing to Tony Hayward. Now I see it is Christie.
Of course, bowing to one’s superior is appropriate, but in obama’s case he might be planting a ricin tipped mini-dart into Chrisie. I remember an Indian diplomat back a few decades who used to smile more when he was getting increasingly angry. I would tell Christie to beware this association with obama.
Now you know, he’s just admiring his reflection in those freshly shined shoes…

I agree.. I do it all the time, too. I mean laugh when I see a picture of O-bowmao. I don’t agree that it’s a stretch to label what he’s doing as bowing. It’s his trademark, especially to leaders from other countries.

I don’t think it’s a bow and a smile, I think Chris Christie’s handshake is so firm, and Obama’s so weak, that he’s grimacing in pain as his hand is squeezed.

I noticed that there is mention of the word “Mongrel” in regards to a person’s ancestral heritage.
I have called myself a “Mongrel” for a few decades now, as I am of mixed ancestral heritage (read: “race” or ethnicity).
Our children are even more a mix of ancestral heritage than I am, making them even more “mongrel” a mongrel than I am, having a father of mixed ancestral heritage, and a mother of still another ancestral heritage (Interracial/multi racial marriage).
In fact, with my wife and my combined ethnic/racial/ancestral heritage our children might rival the United Nations for the most diverse racial-ethnic heritage.
Yes, they are quite beautiful and handsome, and they are quite bright.
Perhaps that mixed ethnic-racial ancestry contributes something to it.
Oh, they have been exposed to numerous laguages here at home, and at family gahterings as well: English, Spanish, Cantonese Chinese, Mandarin Chinese, Hindi, Punjabi, Arabic, Japanese, Russian, Hawaiian, American Sign Language (ASL), French, Korean, some German, Vietnamese, Burmese, just to name the languages they are most frequently exposed to.
When I see and hear racist, liberal, leftist blacks, Hispanics, Caucasians (most often ill informed, underinformed, overly indoctrinated in leftist nonsense, brainwashed, robitic, obsessed, caught in phony “while guilt,” overly engaged in their own self imoportance democrats) spewing their racist racial nonsense, trying to always make race an Issue, I see and hear a bunch of immature, mentally deranged, obsessive fools engaging in nonsense. They don’t know what they are talking about.
Question: Was President Barack Obama shaking hands with the future President of the United States of America, one who will make Obama’s term look like romper room, run by undisciplined, arrogant, spoiled brat school children, while Chris Christey’s presidency will be one of responsibility, adult behavior, honesty, integrity, and upholding, defending, and following the Constitution of the USA, getting our nation back to its greatness?

In certain ethnicity, bowing is a sign of acknowledging the superiority of the other person; superiority may be class based (Brahmans vs Dravids in India), Academic achievements based or simply Financial success based.
Obama is incompetent, inexperienced, and is a victocrat, and he is aware of his deficiencies; hence bowing to anyone who he feels is accomplished or superior.
The fool doesn’t realize that holding the Presidency of the Unites States require exhibiting strength and confidence. Bowing is neither.
