‘Crash the Tea Party’ Teacher Now Unemployed — If Only There Was a Movement Dedicated to Improving the Job Market He Could Join

Not too long ago, school teacher Jason Levin founded the “Crash the Tea Party” movement — and from that point on it backfired on him like a poorly maintained 1971 Buick Skylark (Michelle covered the crashclowns here, here and here).

With the future of Levin’s school teaching career in question, he resigned from his job this past week and is now unemployed:

Beaverton middle school teacher Jason Levin, who founded the now notorious “Crash the Tea Party” website, is no longer a teacher.

Share District officials would not say why Levin was facing dismissal, but that it followed an internal investigation into his use of public resources and time spent at school.

“There was some question whether that conduct occurred during the work day,” Osterink said of Levin’s work on the website.

Reached today, Levin said, “My attorney has advised me not to comment.”

Levin, a media lab technology teacher at Conestoga Middle School, drew international attention last spring after creating crashtheteaparty.org. The now defunct site had said it was part of a national movement to “dismantle and demolish the tea party by any nonviolent means necessary.”

The site encouraged people to infiltrate the tea party, then misspell protest signs, make wild claims during interviews and perform other public actions that would damage the public’s opinion of the tea party.

Poor guy probably started out thinking that it didn’t matter if he lost his teaching job because he’d be heading up a large national organization dedicated to the protection and preservation of Hope & Change by now. Instead, he’s missed out on another “teacher stimulus” served up by the people he was protecting from the evil Teabaggers, and because he resigned from his job instead of waiting to be fired, he may have prevented himself from getting a cut of unemployment benefits that have been extended to the Second Coming. Come on, pal, Obama can only help those who help themselves.

Reasons for the rapid extinction of “Crash the Tea Party”? Overkill is one:

null

null

Another problem was that the “infiltrators” were just plain idiots.

Maybe Levin can get a job as the next spokesman for Geico. What? Oh, nevermind.

There is! Give the boy an orange vest and hard hat and put a shovel in his hands and sign him up for one of the +/- 500,000,000 shovel ready jobs that have been created, saved or imagined. My guess would be this guy has never done an honest day’s work in his rather mundane life.

They were DOD Overseas Schools teachers in places like Puerto Rico and Germany and Okinawa. Every overseas base I lived on had a better school system than most stateside post-Great Society public schools.

You know darn well that this maroon has done two things:

    1. He is sitting around his little studio apartment, the one that reminds him so much of his mom’s basement that he just recently moved out of, trying to understand just why all his Liberal and like-minded teacher friends had such a problem with him spending school/work time and school equipment and Internet bashing the Tea Party and Conservatives and…

    2. Is also blaming those evil “Republi-thugs” for all the bad things that not only have happened to his gloating, ridiculous little life, but all that will happen that he has imagined in that pea-brain of his.

Why, I would go so far as to say he has probably called the police, or at least stated out-loud to at least one or two other sycophants, his belief that “they are out to get me”…when none of us really give a lick about the little worm.

What we DO know, is right now there are dozens of middle-school children who will not be forced to listen to his Progressive/Liberal drivel…and that ain’t bad.

Unfortunately, here in the people’s Republic of Oregon this POS probably won’t get a real job anytime soon. State and Federal benefits are very generous even though Oregon like most other Blue states is in the red. While there are jobs available, most would rather go on the dole because the jobs available don’t pay them enough to support their lifestyle or available jobs are beneath them. (I am not joking!)

I’m not so sure I agree with the BOE on this. Free speech is still the law, even if it was done using public resources. It is his right.

There are teacher-bloggers all over this country, for example, who voice opinions contrary to school board positions (many of them are from OUR SIDE – this once included myself).

If we are going to take a stand in favor of the Constitution, then we must defend this loser’s right to speak out even if, ironically, this man used his right to such for the purpose of trying to silence people.

What does give me pause in this is that he used public resources in an abusive manner. That is to say, he used his right to free speech in an effort to deprive others of their identical right – and did it with resources provided by the public. In this way, the BOE may be right, but face it. The reason they did this was more of a CYA than anything else.

Still, the idea of punishing someone for practicing his right to free speech must be considered troubling. By siding with the BOE, we may be engaging in the same behavior he did.

We are definitely wrong to gloat.

The question is whether America has the courage to stand up for that Constitution.

    Free speech is free speech.

You can’t legally shut somebody up just because the computer they’re sitting in front of belongs to a school district.

How many times have you seen school districts use this same tactic against conservatives, and been truly incensed? It’s just as wrong to do it to a liberal.

No one is denying his right to speech. What it becomes, however, is a misuse of company equipment, Internet etc.. they did not tell him to shut up, take down his blog/website, etc.. However, having worked in Municipalities as well as in school systems, there are very strict rules regarding the use of company/school time, and especially the Internet. Whereas it comes to the use of the Internet provided by said company or school, it has already been proven in law suit after law suit that the school/company/etc., has every right to tell you what you can and cannot do on THEIR service and on THEIR time, and even can access your company email should they choose.

So, should he have been utilizing his on-the-clock time to do anything other than official school business and especially if he had been using the school’s Internet to do it, regardless of what it was, they have every right to tell him to stop, reprimand him, suspend him, and yes even terminate him.

However, he did NOT wait for any of that to happen, and instead he RESIGNED. What that does is take away any and all opportunity to sue, litigate or anything else, and filing a grievance with his union is also null and void. Had he waited to be disciplined, he could have raised a stink, but he didn’t, and he is now on his own…having thrown himself on the sword of his convictions.

Again…no one was saying anything about WHAT he said, just the means with which he chose to convey his hatred. and lies.

Oh.. yes-we-can! It’s no different than a mayor using a bank of town hall telephones for his re-election campaign. Officials and government paid workers may NOT use tax payer funded resources for ANY political reason.

“Free speech” doesn’t mean that I or anyone else has to pay for your ‘free speech’; never did. If I have no ‘right’ to use a school computer for political purposes – NEITHER DO THEY.

If what you think was true then everyone whoever got fired for using company computers for personal use would be rushing to sue their former employers on First Amendment grounds – BALONEY!
