Who Should Drive the Car?

By Doug Powers  •  August 28, 2010 05:01 PM

**Written by Doug Powers

After a few weeks worth of President Obama’s endless “who would you rather have behind the wheel of the car” metaphors, this fits in fairly nicely:

Unlike most of the motorcade’s rides across the island during the president’s vacation, which were choreographed to perfection by Secret Service agents and state police officers, the trip hit a snag when the grouping of about a dozen vehicles appeared to miss the turn onto Pohogonot Road, where the beach was located.

In the middle of Edgartown-West Tisbury Road, the motorcade, consisting of several SUVs, an ambulance and a half-dozen state police motorcycles, executed a U-turn and headed down to Oyster Pond Road , where they apparently headed to the beach.

The snafu caused a roadblock for a couple of minutes while the large number of vehicles turned around.

There are so many reasons the Democrats should just let the driving metaphor go, and this only adds to the pile.

From the same story, D-Lo at WZ caught what might be the feelgood line of the day, at least as applied to some of the liberal activists disguised as journalists who spent the better part of 2008 and 2009 humping the leg of Hope & Change like pubescent puppies on Spanish Fly:

Members of the press did not have access to the beach outing today and were kept on a bus in Friedman’s driveway, according to White House press pool reports.

Spending the day trapped on a bus in somebody’s driveway while the Richie Rich’s you helped get there frolic about must make Crawford, Texas seem not quite so bad after all.

the problem isn’t the driver, it’s the car. If you think a Volt is the best America has to offer, you haven’t thought about either snow or towing something or having a large family with a lot of stuff.

If you think the car should be communist, then it should be in the ditch. But if it is a capitalist car, the person driving isn’t relevant because it is self correcting based on the dollar and not government regulation.

Obama would have you believe that by virtue of being elected, he is an expert on health care, tax policy, military, auto industry, jobs, everything. . . when in actuality getting elected just means you are good at getting elected – it doesn’t mean you have any special knowledge.

So now Obama comes back from vacation and immediately we will be assaulted with speeches in prime time, interruptions so he can campaign a bit, more and more of Odumbo’s lies ad nauseum. Sigh. I really want him back on vacation…permanently. Other than seeing him on the golf course and eating ice cream, it was so peaceful!

I’d like to see Obama try to fit his wife’s arse, his two daughters, his big dawg and luggage into a Volt. What a dufus. But then, he doesn’t care if we have to do that because he never will. Actually, he won’t be driving any car because he is going to end up in jail for corruption and treason.

Yeah, it is just a typical hypocrisy that they are blind to. They think they can regulate every area of our lives, but they are exempt from those same rules. Definitely typical of the progressive mindset. The only justice I can see is prison. Nothing else will do. They have millions of dollars. So even losing the presidency in 2012 won’t mean he has to lower his standard of living. He has it made. I want him in a 10×10 cage.

I’m pretty fed up with the Democrats getting a pass and getting away with the bald face lie that Republicans drove us into a ditch when even youtube evidence very strongly points to Democrats being the culprits who sent us not just into a ditch but instead, over the cliff.

And BTW, the Democrats won control in 06, after the many warnings they received, why didn’t they change direction in 07 or 08, and avert the crash of late 08, that is, if Republicans were so wrong?

They weren’t going to because it was their cockamamie liberal agenda that sent the greatest economy the planet has ever seen, through the bridge out sign and down the embankment, now, we’re up the river.
Why haven’t we recovered like the rest of world has, leaving us in the dust to stagnate, because the the same loons are still in charge with the same cockamamie agenda, shifting blame like crooks do.

There’s only been one other economic down turn worse than this one and that great depression was perpetrated by a Marxist too.
Neither reached double digit unemployment and lasted more than six months until after they were they manipulated the economy.

One thing is abundantly clear, you can’t improve the lifestyle of Americans using the same progressive ideology that caused the massive destruction of Americans lifestyle in the first place.

They keep telling us that we’ve turned the corner on this recession. But if you turn left twice, isn’t that a U-turn that will take you back to where you came from?

A Reagan GPS is installed in the car and is showing clear instructions on how to get us back on the road. But they’re ignoring it because they absolutely refuse to make a right turn. Somebody needs to take their keys away before they run us out of gas, stall the economy completely, and turn this recession into another great depression.

Progressives seem to view U-turns as making progress. Maybe that’s why they are always pining for the good ole days of FDR. They seem hell-bent on taking us all back to the era of the Great Depression while singing “Happy Days are Here Again” along the way.

Let’s stay the course where the dems have taken us to 10% unemployment, and the biggest deficits and debt we’ve ever seen. Excuse me, that spending was an investment in your grandchildren’s future, that they will live in subjugation and poverty their entire life. And things are getting better, just as joe biteme.
