Summer of corruption: Another CBC Democrat in trouble
Cronyism of color strikes again (previous cases here). Former Congressional Black Caucus chairwoman Eddie Bernice Johnson is in hot water over CBC Foundation scholarship favoritism for her family and staff’s family in clear, direct violation of the foundation’s eligibility rules.
The Dallas Morning News reports:
Longtime Dallas congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson has awarded thousands of dollars in college scholarships to four relatives and a top aide’s two children since 2005, using foundation funds set aside for black lawmakers’ causes.
Eddie Bernice JohnsonThe recipients were ineligible under anti-nepotism rules of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, which provided the money. And all of the awards violated a foundation requirement that scholarship winners live or study in a caucus member’s district.
…Scholarships have gone to two of the congresswoman’s grandsons, Kirk and David Johnson; to two of her great-nephews, Gregory and Preston Moore; and to [staff member Rod] Givens’ son and daughter. Givens did not respond to requests for comment, and none of the scholarship recipients could be reached.
Johnson denies that she “personally benefited” from the scheme and says that she “unknowingly” violated the clear eligibility rules.
And if you don’t agree, then 3, 2, 1…RAAAAACIST!

I’m racist.
The Democrat Party Plan:
1) Blame Booosh!
2) Scream RAAACIST!
3) Repeat.
If you’re going to use your political office to enrich yourself and your cronies, well, ok, they all do it. But at least make the effort to do it legally.
The problem for Congressman Johnson is that these violations are so straight forward. This is the equivalent of you must stop on a red light.
Dead man walking.
If they don’t want to feel picked on due to their race, give us the names of the corrupt white folks. There are plenty of them.
I’m racist and proud of it.
It appears that old “Mop n Glo” missed another spot.
So many Dems are commiting so many crimes that the public/citizens don’t pay any attention to it now. Trillions of dollars will never be found after this administration leaves office. I suspect that every Dem that threw their career in the toilet for OBambi, Pelosi, Reed is being rewarded for their treason out of that stolen treasury.
Wow, anther shining example of the “entitlement mentality” from the democrap ruling class.
Are you sure? Affirmative action across the board seems to have nothing to do with “fair” or “equitable” – It’s entitlement/payback for past racial wrongs. In the present political parallel universe, she could slide on this.
You’re traveling through another dimention…
Yet, what will the consequences be?
Admit nothing
Deny everything
Make counter accusations
What’s wrong with educating kids?
Let’s see if I’ve got this right. You get you kids a scholarship so you don’t have to pay for the school and then you claim you didn’t personally benefit from it. If caught, claim ignorance of the rules that as the chairperson of the organization that provides the scholarships you are entrusted to follow.
I’m sorry but my common sense tells me that if I have any sway over where the money goes I need to leave family and friends out of it.
And I’m a racist.
I’m sorry, so sorry goes the song except when you are a member of the CBC. Then it becomes You’re Raaaacccccciiiiiissstttt!!
Kleptocrats of kolor.
MLK would be so sad, disgusted, and angry.
Then sit back and let the taxpayers pay millions for the investigation. Sounds like a great way to get those reparations.
Anyone who doesn’t realize they are commiting a crime, who doesn’t realize they are corrupt to the core, must be really stupid. These are the people who were eleted to serve us? Wow, do we need to clean house!!! Fire their arses and send them packing.
*The liberal plantation over the past 47 years has sure done wonders for the black folks and given us all a snoot full of trouble; I am way past racializing all things societal and study statistics to see where the problems lie; If the black folks did the same, as well as seeing, as I do, that there are but 2 types of people, good and bad, they would at least have a chance to live the dream the right way.
eleted = elected, Sorry. Need coffee!
They will do what they want with no backlash and they know it.After all it is whiteys fault.

Racists. Her family members were owed that money. Just glad to see that she ripped off the CBC Foundation.
What’s Clyborne got to say?
Oh, there’s backlash a comin’. Observe how Dems in some ares, like Indianas Joe Donelly, are distancing themselves from their own party.
On this one I would say yes, I am sure. This is so straightforward if the charges are true, I see no way to throw out a convoluted argument.
But……I understand your concern that they could in this Age of Obama.
Just another resume’ enhancement in her district.
Just spreading the wealth around by following the laws of osmosis; having stuff flow from a high concentration to a low concentration and thereby achieving equilibrium.
is that not the problem?
Former Member of the Congressional Black Raucous.
Those who are non-corrupt need not apply, as that is a qualification to join.
There is another factor – the food fight card. Rangel’s “Give it your best shot” is a rather thinly veiled threat. Are you sure you want to play the dirty laundry game? Bring it! Maxine Waters is on the same track.
Seeems Congressional ethics investigation is like deciding which turd in the cesspool stinks the most. Tough call.
zorro–I’ve been calling it ‘entitlementality’ since 2008.
It’s what’s for dinner!
There’s the problem right there!
Members (of the CBC) shouldn’t use words and terms that are confusing to some of their members, assuming that everyone knows what those precise words mean.
Words like;
“perjury“- Members shouldn’t lie, except when they do so to protect their own skin.
“bribery“- Members are reminded that taking money for favors is not wise, unless said money can be hidden, and strong denials can be uttered with a straight face.
“rules“- Members should be reminded that rules shall not be violated, unless done so quietly, and in the dark.
And most of all, members need to be reminded, that this is Washington, and as such, there is NO violation of law, unless it can be proven! Appearances can be spun, and charges of “racism” leveled at any who dare pry!
I’m SHOCKED, SHOCKED I say!!! Nothing to see here, just keep moving… And the response from MSM,sound of crickets can be heard in the background…
Wait to the conservatives take over the CBC.
And they sure know how to eat!
Congresscritter Rule Book Chapter 94:
Excuses to use when caught:
1. I didn’t know.
2. They made me do it.
3. I forgot.
4. It’s not my fault.
5. It’s none of your G*d Da*med business.
6. You don’t understand.
7. I don’t understand.
8. This was not explained to me.
9. I committed no crime when I did it.
10. Look, there goes Bush. . .get him!
First of all the nature of “nepotism” is to benefit family and other insiders, not the person violating the rules, unless she thinks that if she didn’t take a kickback, she did nothing wrong. So she is either mind- numbingly stupid in saying that, or…well nevermind.
Second, ignorance of the rules/law is not usually (well actually never) an excuse for breaking the rules. Though it takes somebody monumentally stupid to not know that awarding scholarships to your relatives…well nevermind.
Yeah, just because she didn’t bother to find out what the rules are doesn’t mean she’s unqualified to write the rules the rest of us have to live under. Of course, she doesn’t have to live under those rules, so it’s no wonder it was such a shock to find out there actually were rules she had to follow.
Most Ethical Congress evah!!!
SanFranNan said so!
I live in the Dallas area. Can you say “crooked as a dog’s hind leg”? One Dallas Democrat after another gets in trouble with the law. From city officials to state officials, to Congresswoman Johnson, repeat after me, they’re “crooked as a dog’s hind leg.”
Talk to the hand whitey. You racist bigots are just out to get another poor helpless minority woman. Don’t you know it’s all black politicians job to pass out reparations to our peeps.
Of course liberals (no matter what color they come in) are corrupt. They have to be in order to shove their agenda down everyone’s throats.
Pastor Stephen Broden is the Republican candidate who is running against Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson.
Check out Stephen Broder’s campaign web site at:
http://www.brodenforcongress.com/
Pastor Broder has a great video on the home page of his web site about how it is our responsibility to rescue our country in this election!
If we can’t trust Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson to manage a simple scholarship program honestly, we certainly shouldn’t trust her with our health care system or our national security!
We only have 64 days until the November election and early voting will start in most places in October.
Spread the word about Stephen Broden’s candidacy quickly!
Emphasis on longterm….after a couple of terms in office, these politicians think they can get away with anything. Who cares if it’s illegal? Well, I’ve had enough of this s–t, and I hope all Americans have had enough as well. C’mon, we know what’s corrupt and what isn’t–why don’t they? If we don’t throw the bums out, who will?
