Terrific: Bankrupt Freddie Mac hires “diversity officer”
Taxpayer-supported mortgage behemoth Freddie Mac — yes, the same government-sponsored entity that is sucking $64 billion of your money to stay afloat — is proud to announce that it is squandering more of your bucks on a “diversity officer:”
Freddie Mac, the government-controlled mortgage buyer, on Monday named Subha V. Barry to head its newly formed office of diversity and inclusion.
As chief diversity officer, Barry will work with the company’s business units to ensure they’re maximizing opportunities in diverse markets. She will also ensure the company is utilizing diverse talent among its employee and suppliers, and developing strategies focused on the needs of a diverse work force.
Barry will also design the new executive diversity council.
You can thank diversity-mongering Maxine Waters for stuffing the race preference mandates into the financial “reform” law.
Expect more cronyism of color on the public dime.
So much for MLK’s dream, eh?

No doubt the new hire is to be drawn from the ranks of the unemployed, this bringing down the unemployment rate by, oh, 0.00000005 percentage points or so?
What, it’s going to be a Harvard professor? Well, they may be technically unemployed, as the work they do is negligible, but they aren’t unpaid.

So, if they are focusing again on “diverse” markets (as opposed to markets that are most likely to be able to pay a mortgage), won’t that be an example of doing the same thing and expecting a different result?
Funny, but the NBA, and the NFL dont need diversity officers, and those leagues have a majority of minorities playing. When merit and talent are the benchmarks by which success is measured, and talent is hired, it just happens that way. I also dont see Asian or Hindu (Indian) leaders crying about the lack of diversity in the business world. Curious.
No, they expect the same results; Freddie will fail, again, and they will demand and get billions more in tax dollars to stay “solvent.”

Why would a ‘diversity’ gov program need a diversity officer? By definition, isn’t everyone that works there one?

Certainly, they already have enough people working there to either shift to or cover for this new department.
This is CLASSIC GOVERNMENT WASTE that highlights one of the reasons that GOVERNMENT is FAR MORE INNEFICIENT than private companies in the use of it’s resources.
Of course, from Fannie’s point of view, they are just going to stick the tax payer with the bill, so they do not care what the rate of pay will be, or even the overall costs of maintaining this department. And IF congress asks them WHY they decided to WASTE this money, they will simply blame congress as they DEMAND additional BILLIONS!

Yes, the racial cronyism has begun. I work for an institution that gets federal money (who doesn’t?) and we just received notice from our diversity officer that we have to take a survey and answer questions about our race because the feds have new rules on that. Golly, wonder why they are doing this? Are we going to have to step aside and let others take over, as the FCC chair says?
I declined. We’ll see how long I work there.
They used to lend to people that could pay their mortgage. They will now continue to do more of the same.

By the way, the literal translation of mortgage is death pledge. In case you didn’t know.

Sounds really smart to me.
At my place of work, we get regular seminars by various diversity consultant firms to make sure that we are in sync with government directives. They couldn’t call these regulations or laws, because they would be illegal and unconstitutional. There is a whole industry dedicated to “diversity” and staffed by savy illiterates who used to be street hustlers.
There is simply no way that any business that adopts these “diversity models” and follows such consultantsc advice can continue to function as a business. Just a bunch of blood sucking parasites.

Many of these companies are unreasonably adverse to litigation risk.
There are law firms that attack companies that don’t have good diversity numbers. If they’re granted broad discovery, then they scour through company emails looking for racial jokes or questionable comments regarding race. They then use such emails to claim that deliberate race discrimination was part of the company’s hiring practices.
No large company can be 100% confident that such emails don’t exist somewhere. So many think it’s safer to hire a diversity officer and do what they say.
corkie, the problem with this approach is that you inevitably wind up with a number of people in position of power who are not competent for that job. Then the whole rotten mess falls apart. Unless government keeps sending you cash to offset the waste. However there comes a time when the cash cow this government transfers the money from dries up.

The ONLY problem I have with eliminating Fannie and Freddie is that without them, no bank will offer fixed rate loans on mortgages, especially 20 or 30 year loans. Would you be willing to offer 4% loans today which will last for 30 years into the future? I couldn’t find a single bank to make me a fixed rate loan on my commercial buildings, because they hold these loans as every 3 years they readjust to prime +. Without those evil wall street banks and fannie and freddie, all of us will have adjustable rate mortgages the rest of our lives. JUST A THOUGHT.

When an insurance company is in trouble they are banned from writing new business until they become untroubled. The same should happen to Fannie and Freddie.

What’s surprising to me about this news is that they didn’t already have a “Diversity Officer” there.
“Diversity” and “Inclusion” have always been lib code-speak for, “We need more black people” (if you’re thinking charitably) or, “Get in touch with your inner bigot, Whitey” (if you’re thinking more pragmatically).
Almost as surprising as the fact that they didn’t already have a “Diversity Officer” is that it took them this long under this administration to install one.
Diversity trumps actual skills necessary for performing the job well. Yeah, like that will save Fannie and Freddie. Dumb and dumber.

The only way to “ensure” diversity is to deny employment and opportunity to people based solely on their race (white skin). To be more precise, “Diversity” means racism towards whites, which is unconstitutional, and constitutes a criminal act.
