An indignant President Obama complained last week, “I can’t spend all of my time with my birth certificate plastered on my forehead.” Fine. How about plastering a copy of his presidential oath of office there instead? The kowtowing commander-in-chief is in dire need of a daily reminder that his job is to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States” — not international law or global diktats.
Case in point: Last week, Obama’s State Department handed in America’s first-ever report to the United Nations Commissioner for Human Rights in conjunction with something called the “Universal Periodic Review.” In short, the 29-page document (pdf) is a self-aggrandizing report card touting the administration’s far-left domestic and foreign policy initiatives for the world’s approval. The report boasts of racial- and gender-bean-counting in the executive branch; Justice Department outreach to Muslim grievance groups opposed to post-9/11 security measures; teachers’ union payoffs in the federal stimulus law; continuing commitment to closing the Gitmo detention facility for enemy combatants; and the illusory lifesaving effects of Obamacare on minorities through “expanding community health centers” (which have yet to be built, but not that it matters in our Nobel Peace Prize-winning president’s age of post-achievement).
The report also includes a section on “values and immigration,” which essentially singles out Arizona’s immigration enforcement law as a human rights deficiency “that is being addressed in a court action.”
In response, Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer rightly blasted Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the Obama administration for succumbing to “internationalism run amok.” Brewer pointed out in a letter to Clinton, “Human rights as guaranteed by the United States and Arizona Constitutions are expressly protected in S.B. 1070 and defended vigorously by my Administration. In fact, the Department of Justice has correctly not included these so-called ‘human rights’ issues in the current litigation against the State of Arizona.” Somehow, that inconvenient detail escaped the Foggy Bottom bureaucrats’ notice.
No one should be surprised, of course, that the Department of Blame America First is prostrating itself before the likes of repressive U.N. Human Rights Council members Libya, Cuba, Saudi Arabia and China. No one should be surprised that Obama’s globalist panderers couldn’t simply keep their mouths shut and refrain from trashing Americans with whom they disagree. In May, you’ll recall, Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor Michael Posner preemptively trashed our country’s human rights record to Chinese government officials and humiliated Arizonans — and all Americans — who support states’ rights to protect their borders and enhance their security through strict immigration enforcement. An obsequious Posner called S.B. 1070 “a troubling trend in our society” in his bow-and-scrape conversations with the ChiComs.
The inclusion of Arizona in a politically correct catalogue of human rights and wrongs is more than “downright offensive,” as Brewer put it. It’s a national travesty. In the very same Obama administration document, the State Department praises the administration for its “robust protections for freedom of expression.” The report notes sanctimoniously: “As a general matter, the government does not punish or penalize those who peacefully express their views in the public sphere, even when those views are critical of the government. Indeed, dissent is a valuable and valued part of our politics.”
Yeah? Tell that to the Democratic members of Congress leading the punitive economic boycott and political demonization of Arizona. Or to Attorney General Eric Holder, who rushed to attack S.B. 1070 before he had even read it. Fresh off this U.N. mess, Holder’s Social Justice Department has launched yet another vendetta against Arizona. On Monday, DOJ filed suit against Phoenix-area community colleges because they imposed strict citizenship screening of potential employees.
As Obama throws America under the bus for the cause of open borders, the shady U.N. human rights police must be laughing their jackboots off.

Unfortunately, the Administration fell victim to the temptation to aggrandize its record and disparage its opponents in several parts of the report. For instance, President Obama is referred to over 20 times in the 25-page report (minus appendices), and his health care reform is credited with vast achievements that have yet to be realized, if they ever will. The Administration deserves to be criticized for using politically what is supposed to be an objective report on the U.S. human rights record.
But, as discussed in a recent Heritage paper, the larger problem isn’t what is in the report; it is why we are participating in this farce in the first place. The Bush Administration rightly distanced the U.S. from the HRC and withheld the U.S. share of funding from it. When President Obama decided to support and engage the council, he extended America’s credibility to a fatally flawed body. He also made it inevitable that the U.S. would participate in the dog-and-pony UPR show that it has proven to be—a process little more than a “mutual praise society” for repressive regimes.
The Obama Administration was mistaken to believe it could improve the HRC from within as a member of the council. This is the inevitable result of its naïve faith—in defiance of record and reality—in multilateral institutions.

Isn’t it amazing that this administration can file law suit after law suit against Arizone, but cannot find a common ground for trying terrorist that we have incarcerated. How can anybody in this country have trust in the Obama justice department or in him for that matter.
My question to this UN council would be this:
What are the immigration laws in other countries such as China (can say a Japanese person move there and expect them to speak japanese to accomodate him?), Saudi Arabia (same question but this time an Israli), Libia (again an Israli) and Mexico (anyone from south of THIER border) and how do they compare to the laws of The United States?
I imagine that they will find that OUR laws are the most accepting and accomodating than almost any other country on the planet.

Maybe it’ll do some good because anyone who uses it to complain about the US will look stupid. But that’s if you believe it to be a savvy move to cajole the rest of the world, and not some playground childish maneuver to manipulate domestic politics. This is a complete and utter violation of the constitution. It not only violates the preamble to “Provide For The Common Defense” We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
It also, violates Article IV, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution
“The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.”
It is the RESPONSIBILITY of EVERY citizen, public or elected to defend the constitution! This is an outright violation of this administration against the principles, constitutional and US Code laws and rights to EVERY citizen. This president and his ENTIRE administration has been and continues to be in violation of the very laws that are to protect and serve the AMERICAN CITIZENS not ILLEGAL ALIENS! November is coming quickly if and when the republicans take the house back, I will be one of those citizens that will do everything in my power along with others to IMPEACH this president and members of his administration for violations of treason and high crimes and misdemeanors against the United States and its citizens.
We are citizens not subjects and object to being treated as such. This administration is doing everything it can to cause divisiveness and turmoil in this country. What is infuriating is that the report positions the UN as a “higher authority” to our government. Our Constitution is the high water mark as a guarantor of human rights and freedom and should not be subordinated to ANYTHING IN THE UNIVERSE!

I feel for Arizona, they are in a tough situation. But I don’t think their law is Constitutional because of the Supremacy Clause. The states gave up the power, and the Feds refuse to enforce the laws.
I would like to see a move by the Republicans to demand the US gets out of the UN. Without our compliance, without our funding it quickly becomes a shell of an organization. We must accept it for what it is: A haven for thugs and dictators and nations jealous of the success of the US. They have one goal, and that is to bring us down to their low, and only Obama can stoop that low.
If you really want to make a big dent in the drug wars at the border, break up the “too big to fail” money laundering banksters.
Laundering $378 billion for the drug cartels (one-third of the size of the Mexican economy) means that corruption is rampant among our politicians, bankers, regulators, big corporations and so on.

The citizens are getting to the point of civil disobedience because the gubmint in D.C. keeps feeding us crap and expecting us to grow and prosper. I believe the state dept. often deliberately targets areas within the US it sees being in need of cultural “diversification” when it resettles third word immigrant refugees, often en masse, with special consideration for the currently preferred islamic immigrants.
Istead of assimilating, the newly settled immigrants are dumped into an unsuspecting community, and usually end up creating a seperate immigrant community and a magnet point for attracting additional immigrants of the same culture, increasing friction between immigrants and long time residents of such areas.

Errah so when the jack booted Census Enumerator kicks down your door and threatens you with fines or immprisonment for not filling in the American Community Survey (ACS) where oh where will the government/state department get all its data to hand over to the UN??!!
Letting the UN make a decision as to whether or not a law passed by one of the US States is a “violation of human rights” is just the first step. The results could vary, but will be some shade of the UN condemning it, and the media reporting in 300pt font that Arizona and specifically Gov. Brewer are violators of human rights.
After this, the next “human rights violations” that will be leveled against the US will be any law passed by a state which is designed to block Obamacare. Those too will be considered human rights violations.
I suspect that once these proclamations come from the UN, that the federal government will use them as a foot in the door for taking over the state governments in question.

Gov Brewer challenged him and made him look like the mental weakling he is. He got mad and went Alynsky on her. It wasn’t really working since he couldn’t bring the lawsuit for the reasons he wanted.
She also didn’t back down and that made him mad too. Who dares to stand up to The One? He is in full attack mode. Damn the torpedoes.
This is a good lesson for the dangers of having a powerful government. You make the one man mad and he will use his power to destroy you. He is on a mission to bring her down and out her in her place.

It is important to note that Rodham’s Dept. of State is going along willingly with this dog and pony show. Just in case anyone has forgotten: until Obama showed up, Rodham as POTUS was our worst nightmare. She’s still in a solid 2nd place. I have a feeling Obama might take a powder in 2012 and let Rodham run for POTUS. With Bill lurking nearby, the Clintons could easily add to the mess that we are in already. We must not only get rid of Obama; we must get rid of Rodham as a candidate in 2012. Four more years of either of these crapweasels will bury this country for decades.
Relocate the State Department to a border town and see how long it survives. Maybe the Attorney General’s office too.
