Feds Sue Sheriff Arpaio, Investigate Chuck E. Cheese — Border Secure! Update: Arpaio Responds

By now you can probably read all about this in a revised report to the UN’s Human Rights Council that the Obama administration couldn’t wait to file like a nine year old girl tattling to momma after catching her brother behind the barn reading Playboy, but if you haven’t yet heard, here it is:
PHOENIX – The U.S. Justice Department sued Sheriff Joe Arpaio on Thursday, saying the Arizona lawman refused for more than a year to turn over records in an investigation into allegations his department discriminates against Hispanics.
The lawsuit calls Arpaio and his office’s defiance “unprecedented,” and said the federal government has been trying since March 2009 to get officials to comply with its probe of alleged discrimination, unconstitutional searches and seizures, and having English-only policies in his jails that discriminate against people with limited English skills.
If putting warning signs up in parts of Arizona to deter legal US citizens from travelling through certain areas where they might encounter dangerous illegal activity is an acceptable response to crime, can’t the government just put up signs warning illegals not to travel through Sheriff Arpaio’s jurisdiction and leave it at that?
In an additional border security measure, the Feds are also investigating the national security threat that is Chuck E. Cheese. Apparently the manager of the Bensonhurst franchise was overheard calling a pizza “Italian food” and has been accused of profiling.
At a Robert Gibbs’ press conference, reporter Bill Plante asked Gibbs why President Obama has been AWOL while Democrats poll numbers have been nosediving. The fact is, Obama hasn’t been AWOL during the nosedive at all — he’s been the one pushing forward hardest on the stick.
Update: Arpaio’s office responds — “Not backing down” is an understatement:
The Obama administration has filed three lawsuits against Arizona in the last few weeks … one against a college district, one against the state of Arizona and now one against my office. Each lawsuit centers on something to do with alleged racial discrimination.
These actions make it abundantly clear that Arizona, including this Sheriff, IS Washington’s new whipping boy. Now it’s time to take the gloves off. As for today’s lawsuit against my office: These people in Washington met with my attorneys only a few days ago. And in that meeting, Washington got our cooperation; they admitted they already have thousands of pages of the requested documents; and they were given access to interview my staff and get into my jails. They smiled in our faces and then stabbed us in the back with this lawsuit. The Obama administration intended to sue us all along, no matter what we did to try to avert it.
Washington isn’t playing fair and it’s time Americans everywhere wake up and see this administration for what it really is. Calculating, underhanded at times and certainly not looking out for the best interests of the legal citizens residing in this country.

When the Obama Justice Department goes on a fishing expedition against Sheriff Joe Arpaio just because they don’t like him, they are guilty of the very profilling they accuse him of doing. It’s no different than pulling over and searching every car with a Republican bumper sticker in hopes of finding a minor violation, while speeders, drunk drivers, and car thiefs drive on by unmolested.
If the next president did to Illinois what this president is doing to Arizona, Democrats would be screaming for her impeachment. Nevermind that Illinois really is corrupt. The Obama administration is doing everything in its power to protect the rights of non-citizens and terrorists while, at the same time, doing everything it can to trample the rights of law-abiding citizens and anyone who would dare to enforce our laws.
Okay, so the feds send 30 new border guards (to post new signs I imagine) while sending a thousand lawyers to Phoenix to “get Joe”.

I’m not an expert on the laws governing this situation but Arpaio’s attorney’s are arguing that they have made all files relevant to the DOJ’s investigation but that the DOJ has not made clear exactly what they are investigating. I take this to mean that there are no specific allegations of wrong doing related to named persons.
The DOJ is just demanding that ALL files be turned over? This is just a fishing expedition. Is that legal?
When I first saw this, I thought it was just a bad joke.
Back in 1998 I was opposed to the impeachment of WJC because I thought perjury in a sex case didn’t rise to the level the Founders intended when they wrote “High Crimes an Misdemeanors.”

As right as he is, Arpaio is NOT going to win – and neither is America for the time being.
For the real objective to be achieved (that is, America winning), Americans will need to look very closely at both parties and come to a conclusion as to each/both’s fitness to enforce the Constitution, and take the lead in doing so when both parties fail to meet any reasonable standard.
It’s up to US, people, not Sheriff Arpaio or Barack Obama. Joe is one of us, but allowing people who are not to hold office is unacceptable.

What Obama is engaged in is another form of asymmetrical warfare. But a key element of that warfare is to disguise the act so that are not seen by most as attacks or an invasion. Put a smiling face on the tip of the spear.

@44, I doubt Obama would “punt” in that sort of situation, I.E. if Arizona were to prevent Federal taxes from reaching the US Treasury but instead get Congress to declare insurrection…and I don’t wish to speculate on how that would turn out except to say there be no victor.
If the GOP is in control of Congress … then I would expect him to pull out something from the PATRIOT acts to enable him to unilaterally send in troops or at least blockade Arizona to starve it into submission.
DOJ and ICE officials in particular, have defiantly not enforced the laws they swore to uphold.
It’s long overdue that these and other officials, who’ve been furthering their own political agendas, be held accountable for not following the laws of our land they were hired, appointed and paid to do so.
After November; it’s amongst my greatest hopes that a vigorous legal drive is undertaken, to bring civil and if possible, criminal charges against those who have:
1. Failed to prosecute Voter Intimidation (the Black Panther case)
2. Failed to prosecute those who wish for and have attempted to destroy America (the 911 & USS COLE perps)
3. Failed to keep our borders secure and, prosecute, arrest and/or deport illegal aliens when found.
America is crumbling under this misguided Obama regime.

Why hasn’t the Obuma administration been charged with treason? They willfully fail to protect the sovereignty of our nation. They preen and strut as though they are beyond reach of the laws that apply to all of the rest of us.
