The Dog Daze of a Presidency

President Obama apparently strayed off-prompter briefly Monday. This somewhat whiny reference seems like something that would come from a politician exhausted by marathon campaigning and beaten down by the opposition, which is odd for someone whose party is still in control of Washington and who spent the better part of the summer on vacation:
Obama was in Milwaukee to speak at the Milwaukee Laborfest, attended by Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood and AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka. He used the speech to promote his $50 billion infrastructure plan and to criticize Republicans ahead of crucial midterm elections.
“Some powerful interests who had been dominating the agenda in Washington for a very long time and they’re not always happy with me. They talk about me like a dog. That’s not in my prepared remarks, but it’s true,” he told the union crowd.
If by “like a dog” Obama means that every one year of his presidency feels like seven, I’m forced to agree with him. Otherwise it’s a little insulting, if for no other reason than that there are many breeds of dogs that could run the country at a lower unemployment rate.
How exactly does one talk about somebody like a dog? Or are the “powerful interests” talking to a dog — or are they speaking as a dog? Are the “powerful interests” dog haters? Are the “powerful interests” democrats who are trying to get re-elected? It’s anybody’s guess.

This is no laughing matter. We may be seeing the beginning of the great unraveling that I’ve written about respecting Obama before.
We should probably keep sharp objects and guns away from the Big 0.
Can anyone imagine if Dan Quayle or Sara Palin had said something this stupid and nonsensical? The liberal media would have gone crazy. First let’s take Obama’s remark that “powerful interests” are out to get him. Obama supports very powerful interest groups such as organized labor, particularly the public sector unions and he has given the union bosses carte blanche from his administration. Obama has never veered from pursuing every last drop of the labor movement’s agenda. Then there is the Association of Trial Lawyers. Obama has done everything that the trial lawyers’ lobby has instructed him to do. The Obama administration even advanced proposals fror special tax deductions for trial lawyers. Then he says they talk about him like a dog. Actually, most people talk to their dogs with great affection and love. Most polls taken about people and their dogs show that most people view their dogs as family members. So what the heck is he talking about? Maybe Chris Matthews, who gets a “thrill running up my legs” when he thinks about both Obamas can explain.
To compare Obama to dogs does a grave injustice to the canine world. Dogs simply deserve better respect.
Because Obama is a muslim, his dog reference has signifigance. In western, christian society, dogs are well thought of, but in islam, dogs are almost forbidden. They are seen as unclean and prohibited.
Come, sit stay…… bad dog!

Marc is correct, most people love their dogs, and actually most pets, very much. This guy just doesn’t get anything about what 90 percent of this country is about. By the way, I haven’t heard anything about “the one’s” dog in quite a while. Wasn’t that decesion national news for a couple of week a year ago? Maybe he is projecting how he actually treats his own pet.

I was intrigued by 123′s comment, too, but I am open to the possibility that we’re over-thinking this. Obama has over and over again shown himself to be nothing but a petulant man-child.

It’s an odd remark, but this might be a reference to his Islamic upbringing. Dogs are objects of hate among Muslims.

My dog has a pretty easy life. Mostly she sleeps and plays all day. Occasionally she barks at something, but the bark is all bluster.

When I ran a restaurant in Virginia, one of my waitresses became upset at how a particular customer treated her, and threatened to quit on the spot. Whilst loudly complaining & fussing with the customer in front of me–drama eyes and all–she shouted at him ‘you treated me like a DOG!’

This is serious, folks. I’ve been writing for essentially the Obamic term in office that I feared this guy would unravel while in office.
That would be a terrible thing for this nation, and would present a Constitutional crisis that is without precedent. (We’ve had Presidents die in office…including by violence…but never had one go crackers.)

Wow…I do think Phil has some real issues. Paranoia is one. And no, I haven’t known you to lie. I do see where Phil misinterprets things quite a bit and jumps down people’s throats without much reason. I have been the recipient of that also. He has called me a Troll, a RINO, etc. Phil, if you are reading this, think a bit before you hit the “submit” button. You might want to re-write some of your insults and tone them down a bit.
