Granholm to Obama Pre-Auto Bailout: I Hope You Know What You’re Doing

As the Obama administration continues to founder, administration “insiders” will write more and more “tell-all” books — not that I’ll buy any of them. I refuse to give any money to anyone who signed on to help sell a sham but then bailed out when it all went south and later tried to profit from telling everybody how awful the sham was.
Former “Car Czar” Steve Rattner has written the first book of this nature, and there’s an item alleged in Rattner’s book that piqued my interest, mainly because it has a certain “Three Stooges questioning the competence of the Keystone Cops” feel to it:
Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm (D), dejected about the possibility the automakers would have to file for bankruptcy, tells Obama in a voice barely above a whisper: “I hope you know what you’re doing.”
Of course he knew what he was doing — it was a huge union bailout without regard to the economic consequence to the rest of the country. Besides, Obama didn’t have to know how to run a car company, he did the logical thing and hired a telecommunications executive with no auto background to do that. What’s the problem?
This comment is alleged to have come from one of Obama’s economic advisors (I guess Obama wanted to make the economy of the whole country look like Michigan’s and needed Jenny to serve as a road map for how to get there) from an auto-producing state — shouldn’t she have known if what he was doing was the right thing or not? Trick question — of course not — look at Michigan’s economy after many years of Jennifer Granholm’s leadership.
The Blog Prof examines a few more choice quotes from Rattner’s book that paints Obama as an economically clueless community organizer.
With that in mind, in his speech in Milwaukee today, President Obama will announce an additional $50 billion in infrastructure spending. Yeah, that’s what voters have been waiting for — more spending. Should be a good sell on the campaign trail.

This bho and team has no clue how to run any business. This 50b this bho wants will help only a tiny group of union workers with the roads, railways, and airport run ways. Why is it this bho only goes to areas meeting with unions when he makes any speech? Because unions are about the only people who have any use for him! Good g_d! This guy is the penultimate salesman, causing even rational people to put their lives in his hands. I would not trust Barack Obama to run a lemonade stand and here he is on the brink of single-handedly destroying the greatest economy in the world! And now he wants more “infrastructure” stimulus. Hey little man, Roosevelt and Lenin are dead, and by the way, they did not know what they were doing either.
This Nero has got to be arrested immediately. The incompetence and malfeasance is so thick you could cut it with a knife. Come 2011, Congress needs to constitutionally wall off this guy and his “czars” so they can do no more damage.
The last time we had an “infrastructure” oriented bailout promising millions of “shovel-ready” jobs of which “more than 95%” would be private sector jobs, all of the money went either to unionized teachers, unionized government workers, state government operating budgets, new “green” jobs in China, and new GM jobs in China and Mexico. We might just as well have burned the money. There is zero stimulus from this kind of spending. It’s like giving bankrupt homeowners six months of free mortgage payments. You just delay the inevitable.
Yeah, let’s throw another $50B into that fire. Burn the whole place down.
Don’t be picking on Whitacre. He’s not responsible for GM’s problems.
Why did Granholm expect Obama to know what he was doing? What about that hopey-changey crapola? That’s all you really need – Hope that no one catches onto your incompetent management abilities, and rely on constant change and turmoil to keep the masses off balance.

President Obambi has enjoyed a great deal of help from Dems, Media, RINOs, Unions, Soros, Minorities, and ill informed, naive, emotionally retarded voters. It’s taken a lot of help to do this much destruction in such a brief period of time. It appears that 65% to 70% of the electorate actually understand what is happening to our wonderful country,but it’s hard to count on them to correct it in November. I’ve listened to far too many morons explain away Obummer’s purposeful distruction of this country to have any real confident in our fellow citizens.

Let’s see, for about the same price as a mid-range Mercedes, Lexus or BMW I could buy a green econo-box, comparable to an $18 econo sedan – with no history of service or reliability, and no clue as to resale value. Gas mileage savings minus the additional electric expense for plugging it in every night? Unknown.
This is gonna be a tough call. You know, rambler, I might be better off with a ’65 Rambler!

I can’t understand why anyone would buy stock in the new Government Motors scam. They are producing the Chevvy Volt–a car that few want and that can not survive without constant Gubmit bailouts and rebates. Not so bad. It only goes 40 miles on a charge without gas. Short trip.
Well, maybe you have a point there. By the time they have gone 40 miles, Craig and Sarah are ready to “kill” the kids and the dog anyway! Unfortunately, their lake cabin is about 4 hours away. Sigh. I guess for the good of mankind, they need to forget those trips to the cabin and anything else that uses energy.
Folks, we know that this crap will not end up working. The American People will not stand for it. We are free and independent people. We use our cars for millions of different things. We need to have lights, cool air, communication, heat, etc. Anything that jeapordizes that will be quickly squelched. They can pass all the crap they want. We will still do what we please, and will fight them for the right to do so. These weasels are going down. These books are gossip worthy, but I find it hard to read them without my head exploding. The blatant corruption, cronyism and outright illegal activities alleged in them should generate more than talking points.
In his, Alan Greenspan admitted to manipulating the stock market, which is illegal. Nobody said a word.

Another nice feature of the Volt – The Lithium-Ion batteries it uses have in the past had a tendency to explode and/or burst into flames if overcharged, short circuited or overheated.
