Who’s afraid of John Boehner?

Ohio was on center stage today as President Obama went toe-to-toe with GOP leader John Boehner jobs (though, er, the president thought he was in Illinois for a gaffetastic moment). The job-killer-in-chief spoke outside Cleveland, where Boehner addressed the economy two weeks ago. Republicans released a pre-buttal of Obama’s rebuttal laying out their top recovery agenda items:
1.Pass a bill that cuts non-security related government spending for the next year back to FY 2008 levels – before all of the bailouts, government takeovers, and ‘stimulus’ spending sprees began. On Monday, President Obama proposed another round of the same failed ‘stimulus’ spending that has led to fewer jobs and more debt. The legislation House Republicans are proposing would provide the fiscal discipline economists say is needed to promote private-sector job creation and prevent a lame-duck Congress from writing another bloated omnibus spending bill after the November elections. Exceptions should be made for programs affecting seniors, veterans, and national security.
2.Enact a two-year freeze on all current tax rates to stop job-killing tax hikes on families and small businesses. This would help ease the uncertainty employers and entrepreneurs are facing so they can get back to creating jobs. While President Obama intends to move forward with his plan to raise taxes on half of small business income in America, House Republicans will continue to fight to permanently stop job-killing tax hikes.
“The American people are asking the question, ‘where are the jobs?,’ and yet here’s the White House worrying about what I’ve got to say instead of working together to get our economy going again and to get jobs back in America,” Boehner said during the interview. “If we’re able to do this together, I think we’ll show the American people that we understand what’s going on in the country and we’ll be able to get our economy moving again and get jobs growing in America.”
Leader Boehner’s comments came just hours before President Obama was scheduled to talk about the economy in Cleveland – an event that the White House has admitted is a “direct response” to an economic speech Boehner gave in the same city last month. During that speech, Boehner called on President Obama to take five steps to break the ongoing economic uncertainty – including cutting spending and stopping job-killing tax hikes. Boehner also called on President Obama to announce his intent to veto lame-duck job-killing bills – including ‘card check’ and a ‘cap-and-trade’ national energy tax, urge Democratic Leaders to stop obstructing Republicans’ attempts to repeal ObamaCare’s job-killing ‘1099 mandate,’ and ask for – and accept – the resignations of the remaining members of his economic team.
Later this month, House Republicans will lay out a clear and clearly different agenda focused on getting people working again. This agenda is being built from the ground up by listening to the American people, who want Washington to end its out-of-control spending spree and end uncertainty for small businesses so they can get back to creating jobs.
Obama name-checked Boehner no less than seven times. He lied about Republicans failing to specify proposed government cuts (see here and here and here for starters). He pretended to champion construction workers again (while failing to mention how he’s punishing those who refuse to join unions). And he attacked the GOP for engaging in the politics of fear…while stoking hysteria over the conservative backlash against his culture of corruption and entitlement.
Yep, there’s fear in the air alright.

I cannot stand watching the Imp spew anything and everything about him. Someone has to speak up one day and lay it out – Hey Zippy, where did the Stim money go and why are you asking for more?
He will have to call him Speaker Boehner before much longer.
Obama is just trying to raise the profile of Boehner who has virtually no national profile. Everyone knows and hates Pelosi so if Obama can demonize the man who is going to replace her, it’s another iron in the fire.
I think it’s a mistake. He is giving Boehner a platform that the didn’t have before. Besides, Boehner may not even be the Speaker when the GOP retakes the House. Many of us don’t like or trust him either.
Is Obama looking more and more listless by the day — He is spouting the same crap, but it’s sounding worse by the day. Running on empty.
Illinois can have Fisher, that’s fine.
I have no problem with this ruling.
Maybe he thought he was speaking to the residents of Illinois who voted in Cleveland in 2008?? Nahhhhhhhh
Obama’s speech in a nutshell:
give the guy a break…it is hard keeping track of all 57 states.
I really don’t think Obama understands how our government works. He thinks that president means ‘king’. He thinks ‘Republican’ means enemy.
Nobody knows who Boehner is and nobody cares. Most people still don’t know who Pelosi is. For Obama to attack Boehner as the enemy, Obama has to introduce him to America.
Our system was designed like this so that no one person would have too much sway. Speaker is 3rd in line to the president, but they are not important except they determine the agenda of what gets voted on and what doesn’t.
1 of 435 and the President talks about him as though he’s Osama Bin Laden.
True, #7
I like how your text runs out of the box…good touch.
bho needs to attack everyone who won’t fall in line and agree with all his marxist policies. The longer he talks, the more enemies he makes. His adoring crowds have been reduced to the entitlement gimmie groups.
Actually, I think it’s as simple as the President is so used to touting that he was just a “junior senator from Illinois” that he can’t hardly place that attribution on anybody else.
Boehner is lucky to be married to a sexy, smart, and powerful woman. He’s mostly just a tool.
I just hope this bho keeps his face in all states to help out those d’s in trouble and keep up his crud on the ecomony. He is cratering the d’s and himself. I have a feeling he gonna snap sooner than later! I just pray it is on film.
L
Boehner may be all that, Thacker, but I’m keeping him in office.
..what he said.
Howze the AtmosFear in Ohio?
FDR 1933: The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.
Obama 2010: The only thing we have
to fearis fear itself.Hmmmm… from Alinsky…
13. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.
ROTFLMAO!!!
Almost breathed in my coffee!!
Brilliant!!
Poor, poor Dems. They have been had! This President is no Bill Clinton. He is not going to the middle. He is going to “Tax the evil Rich” no matter what… and the Dems have no place to hide. They played this game to get in power and hold it and now here is a President who truly believes their crap. Interesting to see how this philosophy works when you really believe in it! So he is redistributing poverty. Hope FOR Change in November!
The REAL story is Obama knows the economy is going to tank and be really really bad. What he’s setting up is blame Republicans when it does.
See, now he’s saying, ‘if Republicans don’t let me spend more of other peoples’ money, the economy will tank’.
when it tanks, he can say ‘see, since Republicans are keeping me from spending more of other peoples’ money, the economy is bad’.
It’s really not even politically savvy. It is political hackery. But this is the strategy. Blame R’s for anything that goes bad, take credit for any possible future prosperity. It’s Bush league and not very leaderlike.
This Obama doesn’t know what he’s doing. He’s not smart and he’s destroying the economy by wasting money that is not his to waste. The only thing he’s ever done is get elected. it is his only skill. Without Bush as boogeyman, he’s not even marginally good at that.
seriously, after a year and a half of ‘if you like your plan, you can keep your plan’, how can anyone take comfort in his saying, ‘America won’t have a double dip recession’.
Assume Obama is either lying or he’s not smart enough to know.
Ya know… I wish Boehner would abandon this ‘let’s work together’ crap. I think all America knows by now that that simply ain’t gonna happen in this universe.
If I was Boehner I’d focus on the election – the ONLY way we’re going to get out of the woods is elect honest conservatives to government. Besides, why bother telegraphing good ideas to Bambi at this point when he’s going to get the message loud and clear anyway this November?
so just a regular speech for him right?

More of the SOS (Same old S***) from Comrade Obama (PBUH) and his trusty Teleprompters. Bash Boehner, the Repubs, and Bush for causing the last 2 years of economic problems. More “stay the course” rhetoric–keep charging the taxpayers “credit card” for more rewards to his buddies.
***
Some taking credit for the good past economic stuff and the benefits they provided to the American People. More blaming the powerless Repubs for “stopping” Him from fixing everything.
***
But His words still can’t cover up the Regime’s economic failures. And more is coming out on how some favored groups are getting their “bennies” at the expense of other less fortunate individuals.
***
A prime case in point–on one of the radio talk shows yesterday. A woman whose family had run the only Detroit Chrysler / Jeep dealer for 29 years. They were one of the most profitable dealerships. They employed many people, sold lots of cars, and did lots of repair work.
***
They were booted out when Comrade Obama took over the GM / Chrysler businesses. Their franchise is now somewhere else and employs Messiah favored persons. The ex owner did not know why they were shut down–they provided lots of income to the auto makers, and never cost them anything.
***
The lady did not sound Black–and she did not say anything about whether the new owners were Black or Union types. She owns a shut down 10 acre site that can not be used for anything now. I never understood why these shutdowns were done–they make no sense to me.
***
However, I did feel good when The Messiah talked about rewarding hard working people for doing a good job and prospering! Like the Immortal Bard said, “All sound and fury–signifying nothing!”

I think they call that a typical boiler-plate stemwinder.
I simply cannot listen to or look at Obama anymore and I won’t…and no one can make me.
Rogue:
about what you’d expect from a round-heeled guttersnipe?
OBambi knows precisely what he’s doing, he intends to destroy and reshape this country, and he knows that this is his one and only chance to do just that. Obummer is our America’s enemy.
I thought the biggest gaffe of the speach was when he called for ‘middle class handouts’!
It seemed to explain what he really thinks.
At another point, he mentioned he was the ‘Democrat’s President’.
All things considered, this was a gaffe as well.
Hopefully not. There are several people I would prefer to see in the Speaker’s chair than the go-along-to-get-along Boehner. Denny Hastert didn’t inspire; neither will Boehner. It’s time the Republicans started thinking outside the box and that means not automatically taking the guy who is next in line. No more Doles for POTUS candidates and no more Boehners or McConnells for congressional leadership slots.
“and that means not automatically taking the guy who is next in line”
laughing out loud on line out loud
It’s no secret that America hates Congress, congressional leadership, and especially congressional Republicans. I think Obama can certainly do worse than to tie Republican candidates this fall to the man with the orange tan, who loves to lecture the president on fiscal restraint even after he voted for expansion of Medicare and TARP.
Boehner’s no stiff!
RSS, STFU.
You are a demonstrated liar, a racist, and a Collectivist.
Why do you think that Obama is like radioactive waste in Congressional district races all over the nation?
Idiot.
Democrat fear in the air. Life is good.
Well, at least you’ve learned how to post a link. That’s progress of a sort.
But you apparently missed this part:
I’m listening to Newt on Hannity who asked him if he believes the GOP should offer up a specific “contract with America” agenda and Newt, get ready for this, said “no”. The GOP should stick to a short list of general issues like job creation, lower taxes and dismantling the Obama agenda. What a weanie. Both of them.
Now they are defending Bush. Oy!
Get ready for President Hillary in 2012.
Politics is a dirty business. Only a few have enough BS in them to be a politician.
Every single speach by Obrainless.
I know this because I’ve seen the teleprompter text.
When he was on GMA announcing the GOP agenda, he should have made a point of saying “Now you can stop saying we don’t have a plan”. But, it doesn’t matter. The LSM will still blare the “Republicans don’t have a plan” mantra anyway.
Speaking of Orange Man, this ad remix certainly reminds me of a certain person, last name begins with O.

Got a better list, Philly?
In trial law, you learn to present THREE issues to a jury. Beyond that, you lose them.
Anybody but Boehner as Speaker when the Repubs take the House. Anybody but Newt for Pres 2012. I just can’t imagine anybody worse than Obama…oops, here comes Hillary. The thought makes me sick.
I think I was mistaken about who he was married to. I should take my own advice concerning stick to policy issues when commenting about someone. I don’t do gossip or relationship crap very well. it’s not my thing. Wasn’t it ‘sponge bob’ who said ‘a man has to know his limitations’?
sorry for the inappropriate comment about Mr. Boehner’s family. But he’s still unknown by most Americans and he’s only 1 of 435.
RSS here is one:
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 48% of Likely Voters would vote for their district’s Republican congressional candidate, while 36% would opt for his or her Democratic opponent. The survey data was collected on the seven days ending Sunday, September 5, 2010
My government spent 1.2 billion dollars and all I got was this lousy economy.
I think you lowballed that one JD.
Sadly Boehner will be a useless as Gingrich was/is.
Obama plays Golf, Boehner tans with Snookie. Great.
Quick someone call TMZ Obama and Boehner have back to back appointments at the Botox Doc. Catfight!
