Outraged Academic of the Day: Anti-Islamic Propaganda at Football Games Must End!

Outrageous outrage in the Daily Illini, courtesy of one David Green, Academic Professional:
The vast majority of 9/11 observances in this country cannot be seen as politically neutral events. Implicit in their nature are the notions that lives lost at the World Trade Center are more valuable than lives lost in Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine and elsewhere; that the motives of the 9/11 attackers had nothing to do with genuine grievances in the Islamic world regarding American imperialism; and that the U.S. has been justified in the subsequent killing of hundreds of thousands in so-called retaliation.
The observance at Saturday’s football game was no different. A moment of silence was followed by a military airplane flyover; in between, Block-I students chanted “USA, USA.” This was neither patriotism nor remembrance in any justifiable sense, but politicization, militarism, propaganda and bellicosity. The University is a public institution that encompasses the political views of all, not just the most (falsely) “patriotic.” Athletic planners should cease such exploitation for political purposes. They might at least consider how most Muslim students, American or otherwise, would respond to this nativist display; or better, Muslims and others that live their lives under the threat of our planes, drones and soldiers.
The overwhelmingly white, privileged, Block-I students should be ashamed of their obnoxious, fake-macho, chicken-hawk chant, while poverty-drafted members of their cohort fight and die in illegal and immoral wars for the control of oil. University administrators need to eliminate from all events such “patriotic” observances, which in this country cannot be separated from implicit justifications for state-sponsored killing.
Aside from the fact that this guy seems to think there’s still a military draft, he must be a ball of fun to go to a game with.
Heaven help whoever’s sitting next to him if somebody mentions throwing “the bomb” (war pig!), the “Hail Mary” (keep your Catholocism at home, pal, we don’t all worship your false god!), “offsides” (we shouldn’t be taking sides without knowing all the facts first, and probably not even then!) calling for “the blitz” (stop with your hateful mocking, Bavariaphobe — not all Germans tried to level London!), “weak side” (because a team is numerically disadvantaged due to various sociopolitical factors does not give you the right to exploit them) or a “hand-off” (lepers have feelings tooooo!).

There are plenty of Muslim Americans who died that day. Pride in America isn’t hateful to Muslims any more than pride in Islam is hateful to non-Muslims.
I imagine that there were tons of Romans that thought the Roman Empire was awful. And maybe during Mohammed’s time they thought that the brutal killing and murder encouraged by Mohammed in war was a little arrogant.
Most importantly, YOU DON’T HAVE THE RIGHT to not be offended. If you are offended by something, welcome to America. If offensive things were against the law, we wouldn’t have a homosexual movement in America. . . as homosexuality in and of itself is offensive to many Americans.
Until Muslims realize and recognize and admit that without Islam, 9/11 wouldn’t have happened, then there is nothing to discuss.
Plus, make sure to forget the largest arms deal in history from the USA to Muslim states just announced over the past few weeks. Make sure the Saudi sheiks don’t fly those jets they just bought from us. That would be imperialistic.
Thank goodness the students didn’t fling a koran around instead of shouting USA, USA! If these students let this worm tell them that is might get the rop type all bent out of shape at the school, well that is too bad! This is America, if you don’t like it you get OUT. That means you too green.

First of all, if they’re feeling are hurt, (aw…poor babies) they are encouraged to leave this country of “intolerance” and take all the educated idiots (called “professor“) you can carry, with you.
Secondly, if you don’t like how we pay homage, too bad! You can pound sand, Habbib!
Third, if your religion, that of Perpetual Outrage, stopped killing innocents, people might look differently at you.

Tuesday, the American Legion blog, The Burn Pit, put up a post from the other day on this that includes a rebuttal from Chad Garland, President of the Illini Veterans Student Organization. Well worth the read.
The day the attacks happened I might have believed this had something to do with it, but I made an effort to find out exactly why this happened. What I figured out was there was only one reason for this and the many other attacks on Americans and others around the world. The only reason is because we are not Muslims. For that, we must be converted, subordinated, or killed. That is Islam in a nutshell.
That’s my alma mater. What kind of stupid job title is “University Academic Professional”? I’m sure he’s earning his salary. No wonder it’s gotten so expensive in the couple of decades since I was there.
And is the DI admitting it only has one reader, or is “Reader’s Comments” at the bottom an example of what passes for writing and editing that’s being taught there now? Heaven help us.
And that’s not even counting the ones that converted to judaism just for the jokes!
