Today on Capitol Hill, left-wing comedian Stephen Colbert will appear “in character” before a House subcommittee on immigration.
No, he has no expertise.
But he has an agenda: To mock Americans who support strict enforcement of our laws by implying that they won’t take jobs that illegal aliens do:
Stephen Colbert will appear before a House subcommittee on immigration today. Colbert will appear, in character, with United Farm Workers President Arturo Rodriguez. The United Farm Workers has launched an awareness campaign “Take Our Jobs” which challenges Americans to take up agricultural jobs often filled by illegal immigrants such as packing corn or picking beans. Colbert took up that challenge last night on his program.
The entire premise of this stunt is false.
Law-abiding Americans and law-abiding immigrants have done and will do this work — just watch what happens when the feds do their jobs and enforce employer sanctions.
The Center for Immigration Studies further pierces the myth:
This analysis tests the often-made argument that immigrants only do jobs Americans don’t want. If the argument is correct, there should be occupations comprised entirely or almost entirely of immigrants. But Census Bureau data collected from 2005 to 2007, which allow for very detailed analysis, show that even before the recession there were only a tiny number of majority-immigrant occupations.
Among the findings:
* Of the 465 civilian occupations, only four are majority immigrant. These four occupations account for less than 1 percent of the total U.S. workforce. Moreover, native-born Americans comprise 47 percent of workers in these occupations.
* Many jobs often thought to be overwhelmingly immigrant are in fact majority native-born:
o Maids and housekeepers: 55 percent native-born
o Taxi drivers and chauffeurs: 58 percent native-born
o Butchers and meat processors: 63 percent native-born
o Grounds maintenance workers: 65 percent native-born
o Construction laborers: 65 percent native-born
o Porters, bellhops, and concierges: 71 percent native-born
o Janitors: 75 percent native-born
But clown Colbert’s Democrat enablers aren’t interested in serious debate. They’re interested in promoting illegal alien amnesty by any means necessary — even it means turning a House hearing into a Comedy Central stage.

First off, NASA/s fool buckling to this clown only whetted his ego to play big time. Second, after I heard from Gerraldo this morning on Fox, it’s absolute GARBAGE that you “need” illegal aliens to pick anything! I picked potatoes one summer out on Long Island in college times and the farm kept turning away lines of other black Americans willing to stoop and plunk and pull. You can also train workfare clients to do the same as their owe on the public dole! It ain’t rocket science! You’ll still get spinach and turnips on your plate after a mass deportation, I assure you!

Colbert is a nobody. The only reason I know his name is some eBook reader used his book cover, along with a lot of other liberal pig waste in print, in an ad for their product.

When I was 14 I started picking tomatoes. Saved up enough to buy clothes and entertainment during the coming school year. The next year I was allowed to move up from tomatoes to corn. Continued through high school, as did various friends and my younger brothers.
Now our youth unemployment rate is what?
The sad thing about this whole Colbert scenario is he’s the only one I’m willing to take serious.
Everyone in DC is a clown. One more wouldn’t be noticed.

I know a few kids that worked on farms. I didn’t. I worked doing similar work in manufacturing plants. As lots of other kids and some 20-somethings did at the time.

Right out of the law. Being a bit of a oldster, I started at 9 years old, hauling hay, 12 years old picking fruit..and 12 years old cleaning irrigation ditches in the spring, hoeing and thinning suger beets. By 16, I and my brothers were contracting whole suger beet and tomato fields.
Damage to me and my brothers? Plenty…it taught us how to put in a day’s work. It is such nonsense that illegals need to do these jobs. Young people whos parents want them to learn to work would gladly do it…but the law (passed by the Dems) utterly will not allow Americans to work.
Seems sort of fitting that they have comedian Colbert as an “expert” witness. After all, this is the same party that “elected” not-so-funny-comedian Al Franken to be a U.S. Senator.
If this country can’t function without entrapping 3rd world poor into a permanent underclass, we really are a mess as a society. The prevailing myth among these open-borders zealots is that amnesty is a good deal for those getting it. It isn’t. Having a permanent underclass is not only wrong, it is horribly immoral.
Most of us mowed the lawn, painted the fence, shoveled snow and did other odd jobs before we had illegals. Today, children balk at these chores because it is seen as “Mexican” work.
The cotton industry didn’t disappear after slavery was abolished. We innovated. Innovative societies are more stable than slave societies.

I worked as a lawn mower until I got out of the first years of college … And learned a lot about running a business from that experience. By the time I gave it up, we had bought two lawn-mowers and a wheel barrow.

I agree with Michelle. We, the people, should hold the real clowns accountable: those that invited a comedian as an “expert” into our House.
As a child, I worked for a farmer helping him in his fields.
My first job after high school was as a sacker in a grocery store.
I got through college by working as a janitor in the Student Union. Yes, I cleaned the toilets, too.
These “jobs Americans won’t do” are NOT career jobs. They are stepping-stone jobs. And Americans WILL do them because THIS American has done them.
I would have walked out of that dog and pony show. Really, wasting taxpayer dollars for this crap?
The dems at this hearing spouted the “comprehensive immigration bill” term often . Professor Carol Swain tried to tell the whole story and often cut off from injecting the word amnesty in the testimony. Can’t wait to see these low life people like Waters, conyers,sanchez get their comeupaance in November. Swain even mentioned how they are screwing their own, blacks, in favor of illegals-which they took great umbrage at…yeah-The truth hurts!

By the way, I did house cleaning and ironing for 50cents per hour when I was in HS. Back then, I had to iron men’s undershorts, bras, sheets, everything! And oh, those starched long-sleeved white shirts!
I also remember scrubbing someone’s basement floor on my hands and knees without knee pads…and it was a huge floor. The women I answered to were fussy and exacting and complained if I didn’t do it completely to their satisfaction. I guess you would call it slave labor, but I was so happy to have that money! I spent it all on 45 records and make-up. Also on hanging out at Porkies and pigging out on french fries. Good times.
Too bad their desire to pass amnesty based on the testimony of a comedian who spent one day on a farm isn’t also fake.
Anyone that has ever lived on a farm knows that physical labor is mandatory. That is NOT exclusive to illegal aliens and many Americans are more than familiar with hard work.
The ridiculous concept of allowing this fool to testify makes a mockery of our Congress and the Dems.
Just suppose that all those jobs done by illegals were taken by American citizens…. just suppose. What would happen???? Where would the illegals go??? The same place they go in the winters and off season…on welfare, living in HUD housing and getting free medical care. Tax payer money would pay even more than they do now…. hospitals would continue to fail because of overload and schools would be unable to pay for the overcrowding of classrooms.
If illegals are automatically made citizens by Obama, Harry Reid and the rest of the Dem party, those farm owners would then have to pay at least minimum wages, withholding and health care costs. The ‘workers’ would unite or join a union, demand much higher wages and the large farms would be in a pickle, as it were.
That would, in fact, mean these poor farmers couldn’t afford to maintain the business of growing …. unless of course, we allow 30 million more illegals in to do the job under the radar.(and why stop with Mexico by the way?)

He is also offering to redistribute Americas wealth to them, buying them cookstoves, giving them aid, and at the same time destroying our ability to compete with them in the global marketplace. Congress made a mistake having Colbert because he raised the IQ of the dems.
How difficult would it have been to create a guest worker program for the farmers? Evidently quite difficult. The reason why there has been no progress on immigration, is because the gov wants a continuous amnesty program which denies the educated entrance to favor the more easily manipulated uneducated border hoppers.
I loved the smell of horse poop in the morning as i mucked stalls before classes. Smelled like…pizza and beer after classes!

As I am a bit older than most here, I was around before a lot of the machinery they have now. I chopped cotton, hoed cotton, and picked cotten.
I picked up pecans, and cut the outer shell off of them, the one that is large and thick on the outside of the regular shell. I cleaned houses, picked cherries, and worked as a waitress.
Most Americans, I think, have at one time or another worked hard at many things.
Shame on those that say Americans won’t do this work!!

The reason that CongressCritters don’t think American will do those jobs is because they have never done an honest days work in their lives.
I picked beans in Alabama, picked weeds out of soybeans and corn in Iowa and clean houses, babysat and ironed clothes back when Reagan was Governor. I helped support my family – my dad died when I was 7 AND I had 5 sibs younger than me. After I started working, I saved enough that each of us had at least one new outfit that we picked out for school. We were grateful for the hand-me-downs, but there is something just NICE about a new K-Mart outfit that nobody else had worn.
I know people, including myself who have done all the jobs the Dems say only illegals will do, from various farms, janitorial work, fast food, washing dishes, etc.
My dad did these kinds of jobs 40 years ago as did his his father.
It is pure BS that they claim that only illegals will do it. The Dems only want to exploit them for the votes.
Only illegals do certain of these jobs because only people who speak Spanish are hired. The supervisors don’t even speak English. Why would they hire someone they can’t communicate with?
Not to mention, they hire people like themselves. Chinese restaurants hire Chinese people. Hispanic farm workers hire hispanics. Good looking people like myself hire good looking people. We all have a comfort zone. Thats also why like people migrate and live in the same areas. They share a cultural bond etc.
The Democrat Party is a Joke! This is just more proof.

So, Colbert testified “in character.” That means that he said things that he (Colbert himself) did not believe, know, mean, etc. Basically, he lied.
This means he PERJURED HIMSELF.
Next week the Democrats plan to call Cheech and Chong as experts on illegal aliens.
Evidently, this is what Democrats truly think of our system of government and rule of law: a joke.

Trinity Wall St., an Episcopal ‘church’ had a mass several years ago with all the priests, participants wearing clown outfits. I think they still have it available on their website.
