Obama Gets Advice From Another Proven Winner

Last week, Michael Dukakis dropped by the White House to offer advice to the Democrats about what they need to do in order to emerge from the mid-term elections with a scant heartbeat (“put on giant helmet, get in tank, wait for votes to roll in” was curiously absent from the list of suggestions), and now Walter Mondale is imparting some sage political wisdom to President Obama.

From Byron York:

Former Vice President Walter Mondale said on CNN that President Obama relies too much on teleprompters — which Mondale called “idiot boards” — when speaking to the American people.

In a discussion of whether Obama projects empathy in his speeches, the 82 year-old Mondale said the president “has got to connect with the American people.” When CNN host Wolf Blitzer asked why Obama has not shown more empathy, Mondale answered, “I’ve seen places where he’s done it. The Milwaukee speech, I thought was terrific. I think some of these backyard events are terrific. But I think he — he’s very bright — as a matter of fact, brilliant. And I think he tends to — and he uses these idiot boards to read speeches on television and I think he loses the connection that he needs emotionally with American voters.”

So the mounting debt, unemployment, failed “stimulus” shams, bailouts and unpopular legislation are the teleprompter’s fault now? At least this takes a little heat off Bush.

Even still, blaming the decline and fall of the Obama agenda on the fact that he uses a teleprompter is a little like blaming the sinking of the Titanic on Captain Smith’s British accent.

That said, I think Obama should take Mondale’s advice — it could be the only way to save Minnesota in 2012. Here’s proof:

By the way, my dear departed Mother actually dated Walter Mondale back in the early 30′s. Walter’s father was pastor at the United Methodist Church in Kasson, Minnesota. Back in those days they had a farm near my grandparent’s farm. Mom got wise very quickly, however. Thank God!! I mean, I could have ended up being Walter Mondale’s daughter! Gasp!

jesse Ventura was the electorate sending a message to both parties in my opinion (the only problem is Ventura did not understand that and took himself seriously).

As for Franken, you can thank the Dems out in WA ST for that fiasco. They sent the guy who helped manipulate the 2000 governors election (after two recounts and more votes than voters) to enusure a Dem won out to Minnesota to do the same tricks for Franken. The vote count was so dilluted with inelligeble votes (more votes than voters in King County, felon voters, dead voters, voters voting multiple times, etc) that the judge said there was no way to tell who actually won the election (so he sided with Dems who wanted him to decide the outcome instead of the Republican that wanted him to call for a runoff between the two of them).

I agree. Having gone to schools in CA it was pretty liberal. The only teacher I recall as having a conservative viewpoint was my 7th grade history teacher. Once I got out of school, it was my parents that kept me pointed in the right (and I do mean right) direction.

Possibly. Dukakis just has to be in awe of and/or jealous of TEH ONE,because, unlike Dukakis, he actually was elected president.

It makes a great story and photo op to make Dukakis feel relevant, because you kknow any advise given to TEH ONE will just loose its way going into his jug ears, if it even gets inside TEH ONEs head in the first place.
