How conveeeenient: Post-elex Rangels/Waters trials scheduled

Democrat Rep. Zoe Lofgren, engineer of the Colbert Congress, made the announcement.
Via USA Today:
Ethics trials for two veteran Democrats will be held after midterm elections for Congress, the House ethics committee has just announced.
The hearing for Rep. Charles Rangel, D-NY., accused of 13 violations of House rules, will be held Nov. 15, the first day of Congress’ lame-duck session following the Nov. 2 election. The trial of Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., is slated for Nov. 29.
The announcement by Rep. Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif., who chairs the ethics panel, rejects a request by Republicans on the panel, who last week called for the public trials to be held before Nov. 2.
Like the Church Lady always said: How conveeeenient!
And in very related news, a fresh poll shows that voters aren’t buying what Speaker Mop and Glow is selling:
Most voters think Congress’s ethics have gotten worse in the past two years, according to a new poll in key battleground districts.
The finding suggests that people likely to have a big say in who controls the House in the next Congress believe that Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has failed to keep her 2006 promise to “drain the swamp” of congressional corruption.
The Hill/ANGA 2010 Midterm Election Poll finds that 57 percent of likely voters in 12 competitive districts believe that the ethical situation on Capitol Hill has deteriorated since President Obama took office. Thirty-two percent of respondents say there has been no change, and only 7 percent claim it has improved.

Vote Maxine Waters OUT OF OFFICE!
Well, we wouldn’t want a rush to judgment. Pelosi will need some time to think over the “complex and nuanced” issues involved in these cases.
Shucks, everybody makes mistakes, right?

Vote Rangel OUT OF OFFICE! New Yorkers deserve a better Congressperson than the ethically challenged Rangel!
I’ll be pleasantly surprised if this isn’t quietly swept under the table after the election – especially if either or both lose. Republicans won’t want to look vindictive, and Democrats don’t generally eat their own.
Now seriously, was anything other than this expected? Slap on the hand and Belagosi saying that it wasn’t really that bad and they’ll never do it again. Poof! It’s done.
Trials can have two outcomes… guilt or innocence.
IF they were innocent, would they not want their names cleared prior to the Election???
If I was their opponents, I’d point out that little nuance.
If the GOP retakes the House, does anyone want to bet the current GOP leadership will want to “get beyond” the politics (AKA: shenanigans), and pass on any investigations of past Democrat wrong-doing? I would specifically like to see investigations regarding Obama’s fundraising; credit card safeguards turned off which allowed foreigner contributions.
I hope the new crop of conservatives will “rearrange” the leadership. The current leadership might be solid Republicans, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they should retain their current positions…too many mistakes were made to just reward them with leadership. We need new blood in there with better ideas, and stronger convictions.
Have you not paid attention? They don’t care! As long as they can stay out of jail, and still make money, their reputations mean nothing to them. I think they believe they’ll be rewarded for towing the party line, but that’s just me.
Must be nice, being in congress.
Especially since both have been claiming they’ve done nothing wrong. Okay, if nothing’s wrong, then let’s go ahead with the trials. Though I’m sure they’ll just be show trials before both are declared not guilty.
“It’s good to da King!”
Elect me President in 2012 and my 1st command to my AG would be “Sick em”
Mine would be to tell congress that I will veto every bill until the 16th amendment is repealed and the FairTax bill is on my desk.

I seem to remember that the GOP has pretty much done this all the time. No matter that the Ds have almost never “looked the other way”. The Rs mostly take the “high road” no matter how many times they have been attached/mauled.
For ONCE I’d like to see the Rs use a pair of cajones.
Rangel and Waters…could they be, oh, I don’t know….SATAN?????????
Isn’t that special?
They MUST be expelled!! Drain the swamp, scatter the roaches, however you want to put it. These two are a great start to that end.
Ah yes, the House ethics smethics committee.
Defeat Zoe Lofgren along with Waters and Rangel in 2010.
In Harlem, perhaps being a criminal is a badge of courage and honor. Sticking it to the man you know. Since they all consider themselves victims of the man, stealing from them is justice.
Ms Waters voters probably have the same victimhood mentality. She is their hero and if she has to cheat for them , so what.
*To paraphrase Wolfy da Blitzer, “They are so black and so corrupt”.
*I’m looking forward to 11/2 election results, but am more interested in seating more and more non-politicians that are conservative, ethical, and will adhere to the constitution; It will probably take 3 election cycles to purge Congress and the White House of these rat bastards that are purposely destroying our beloved country.
Negative. They must be jailed. Bawney Frank, Chris Dodd…all these rats that tanked the entire country need jail time. The coming elections need to be to reestablish equal justice for the ruling elites as it is for the rest of us regularguys.
Of course! You can’t let important business get in the way of campaigning.
We know who that 7% is don’t we

Our Dear CongressCritters Maxine Waters and Rambling Rangle are in safe districts where their corruption, lack of integrity and showboating are fully appreciated. When Voter Registration is conducted in the Parole/Probation Offices you know things are “different” as it were.

It also allowed people to purchase pre-loaded Visa gift cards and then make multiple $25 donations. Of course, Obama touted this as grassroots support because just look at the millions of small donations (that don’t require identity reporting to the FEC).
The McCain’s of the GOP will most certainly pass on investigations out of consideration for “their good friends on the other side of the aisle”.
Some won’t buy the “spirit of cooperation” crap. And hopefully these well-spined elected officials will eliminate any lack of cooperation from the “McCain” types and pursue investigations and hopefully, prosecutions, with vigor.
“Speaker Mop and Glow”
Good one Michelle.

Possibly President Palin’s new “clean sweep” Department of (non-Social) Justice can do a little equal opportunity investigation into Maxine and Charlie’s past tax returns in January 2013.
