Russ Feingold Puts on Hat With Tea Bags Coming Out

Russ Feingold interview, New York Times, August 2010:

Q.What explains the difficult political climate for Democrats, considering that President Obama has implemented many policies he campaigned on?

A.“There are two primary reasons. One is the economy. Human nature is such that people are going to say, ‘I’m frustrated.’ That creates an environment that whoever is in office, whoever is doing anything, is potentially vulnerable to people being unhappy. There’s a second factor that’s more cynical. A conscious decision was made by certain groups to destroy this presidency the minute it started. People say it was the health care bill – no, it wasn’t. I go to every county every year and hold a town meeting. Within days of the president being sworn in, I had people showing up at my town meeting with hats on, with tea bags coming out, saying this is going to be socialism.”

And then over the weekend, what a difference a few weeks and increased desperation makes.

From a Politico article entitled “Russ Feingold courts Tea Party votes”:

Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wis.) used his first debate against self-funding Republican nominee Ron Johnson Friday night to extend an olive branch to the tea party movement that’s poised to rattle races across the midterm map.

Feingold, who is trailing Johnson by single digits in most public polls, first took a swipe at his GOP opponent for being a latecomer to embracing one of the tea party’s most cherished symbols: the U.S. Constitution.
[...]
“Even though he made some comments originally about how the Patriot Act maybe had some problems, he fell in line to the Republican view, says he’s for the Patriot Act,” Feingold said, pointing out that he was the only senator to vote against the post-Sept. 11 legislation. “And the tea party people agree with me.”

Wisconsin, your incumbent Senator is a racist!

How strange — one of the reasons there’s a Tea Party is now trying to jump on the Tea Party bandwagon.

This isn’t the first time Feingold’s tried to align himself with the right — those people who “made a conscious decision to destroy this presidency the minute it started.” At this rate though, Feingold’s bound to show up to his next debate wearing one of those hats with the tea bags coming out and an anti-Obama t-shirt.

That couldn’t be because of stimulus/omnibus 1-2 punch within days of being sworn in, could it?

Imagine people being upset with over a trillion dollars of new debt for no good purpose.

It’s fun to watch the desperation of these liberals. The fact is, even if they lose more than even they expect, they aren’t going away. Unless the Republicans wake up and repeal and overturn everything Obamalala’s regime has pushed through, the liberal/socialist agenda will continue it’s creep. We will then see a third party by 2012.

Looks to me like an example of what trial attorneys (at least on TV shows) would describe as “Asked and answered”.

This is what happens when unprincipled people get elected. America, this is your doing and you have the power to undo it.

Let me first say that I think Socialism already existed in America before Obama was elected. I define socialism as the government controlling a large pluarity of GDP, but still less than 50%.

However, given the fact that Obama knew there was already high taxes and declaring that he still wanted to ‘spread the wealth around’, implying that he wanted to raise taxes moreso, in order to control more GDP, it was right for the people to cry Socialism in the face of his agenda. Maybe they should of declared that a heavier degree of Socialism was on the way, but the jist of their argument was and and has turned out to be correct.

And the statments that Obama made that shed light on his belief in controlling more GDP, and instilling more socialism, were made before the election, so the fact that any democrat would decry that within days after the election, people were upset and angry that Obama was elected makes sense. They were upset with what they knew was coming.

It is truly unbelievable that these fools slander and berate the Tea Party participants, call them racist and other ridiculous names, then try to get elected by mentioning they are on the same side as the Tea Party. They have no clue how stupid that makes them sound! Just another weasel to throw on the dungheap. That is getting to be one huge pile! It will be so gratifying to see corrupt elitists like Feingold locked out of the Capitol come January 2011. May we never see the likes of him again!

    Feingold:

There are two primary reasosn. The first is that with the help of the corrupt media, Obama was placed into office on the message of “Hope and Change” when really anybody with a few brain cells who was paying attention knew this guy was a socialist.

The second more cynical reason, is that there is a group that has destroyed the Presidency almost from the beginning. They are the democrats in the Congress who, upon voting for Obama’s socialist policies such as health care, created a record that dem nitwits like me had to explain during the 2010 election campaign, but of course could not. This of course has woken up the half asleep segment of voters known as “independents” who now see that they were duped.

But in any event, being that I am a politician afterall, and a dem pol to boot, I really have no real beliefs or convictions at all, other than what the latest polls tell me, and of course the latest primary victories by members of the patriotic and wise Tea Party. When I criticized them before, well c’mon, I was just kidding. Want a TEA Party bumper sticker? Vote Feingold, ya know.

Actually Russ, a lot of us made the decision to work to destroy Obama’s presidency before he was sworn in. We actually listened to him during the campaign and knew what he wanted to do. Fortunately though, all we had to do was voice our opposition to his socialist (fascist actually) policies and he’s doing the rest.
The people showing up at your meetings saying this is going to be socialism are the ones who weren’t dazzled by all the smoke and mirrors and afflicted by terminal stupidity like the Obamunists. They had their eyes and ears wide open the whole time and knew what was coming.

very true. Rick Santelli, of CNBC, didn’t even make his pitch for a Tea Party until Feb 19, 2009.

One thing I know about Democrats is that they are incapable of telling the truth! They are predisposed to dishonesty, saying anything to obtain, or maintain power, and to control the public purse strings.

How can any of them stand on merits? Are we to forget the age old addage:

    “Actions speak louder than words.”

    Or,

“A picture is worth a thousand words.”

Know them by the company they keep, their actions, and their inability to answer questions honestly, and openly without restating the question in different terms, or spinning the answers.

Anyone with a “D” next to their name is untrustworthy, in my opinion. Anyone with an “R” next to their name, who compromises on true conservative principles, is also untrustworthy, and will NEVER get my vote.
