“Man up!:” Doddering Reid wilts in debate with Angle

By Michelle Malkin  •  October 14, 2010 10:20 PM

In style and substance, Lady in Red Sharron Angle trounced the four-term Democrat Senate incumbent and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid at tonight’s Las Vegas debate.

He preposterously called George W. Bush “his friend” (after infamously branding him a “loser“), claimed credit for the surge in Iraq (after questioning General Petraeus’s competence and character), and became a new convert to the English First movement (after having voted against such a proclamation in 2006. In an instant-made-for-political-ad-classic, Angle challenged the entrenched incumbent’s wealth.

A miffed Reid referred to himself as a “fixed income” peon…who happens to live in the Ritz-Carlton.

And in the quotable quote of the night, Angle pricked Reid’s delusions about the teetering Social Security system with two terse words:

“Man up.”

Hapless Harry relied on tired senatorial cliches and weasel words (“extreme,” “extreme,” ” my friend,” “extreme”); he resorted to condescension in response to Angle’s aggressive challenges on the shortcircuiting of the deliberative process in Washington overseen by Reid (she just “didn’t understand what goes on,” he sniffed cluelessly); and in the closing statement of his political life, he awkwardly shuffled his yellow notebook pages around before meekly arguing that Angle was offensive.

Angle smiled, channeling Reagan’s warrior optimism, and asked for Nevadans’ votes to restore prosperity and freedom and American exceptionalism. Without notes.

If this were an amateur boxing match, it would have been an RSC-O — referee stopped contest because the loser was outclassed. November 2 can’t come soon enough.

Can’t wait to be able to bid Harry Reid adieu and a hearty, finger-wagging DLTDHYOTWO*:

The way I see it a dead heat is not good enough for a Republican to win these days. They need to win by 4-5% or else the Dems will recount till they manufacture enough votes. Look at WA ST in 2004 when Dino Rossi one the first and second count only to loose on the 3rd count (they are still finding “lost” ballots in Seattle) or the case in 2008 with Coleman loosing to Franken after a recount. Angle did a great jon of sticking to her guns and I hope it helps to show the stark difference between her and the ruling class in DC, enough so to widen her lead.

Ok, I’m hoping Reid is retired this year, no question. Sharron Angle was feisty, compared to Reid’s semi-comatose demeanor. But I wasn’t overly impressed with either one of them, to tell the truth. Angle accused Harry of suing Arizona; nope, that was the DOJ led by that lyin’ Eric Holder. Yeah, I know, Reid would have if he could have. Reid dodged a yes or no abortion question with a crap weasel answer. Same on English as the official language of the country. Well, it was really not an impressive performance, but Angle won’t vote for the crap the Dems are selling, so that’s enough reason to put her in. Then if she goes off to la-la land in six years, they can replace her with someone better. (Sharron: there’s no sharia law in Frankford, TX, or Dearborn, MI.)

Actually, The Las Vegas Sun had a series of exposes several years ago about how Harry Reid became so wealthy as a senator. And the State of Nevada made some curious decisions which just concidentally helped ole Harry.

Technically correct, but by remaining silent instead of using his clout as the Senate Majority Leader, Reid is aiding and abetting the crime.

After GWB won his second term, he indicated his desire to “reform” the Social Security program, and one of the reasons it didn’t get anywhere was Reid indicating that Social Security was fiscally sound (even though I was receiving correspondence from the government which indicated otherwise). I’m glad that Angle pressed that issue.

I realize that Ds and Rs may have different ideas as to what needs to be done in order to revamp Social Security, but a statement that SS was fiscally sound was one of the most irresponsible and reprehensible utterances to come out of Washington D.C., and for that reason alone I feel Reid should be retired from office.

There are a lot of California transplants in Nevada, many from other states too. They have brought this liberalism here to what has always been a fairly conservative state.

The LVRJ reported that Dems now lead Reps in numbers of registered voters and that Independents have had the largest number of new registrations in this election cycle.

In the north, Harry is toast. Most likely in the rural areas as well. But it is Clark County, home of Las Vegas, where the majority of the populace resides and that is where Harry is most popular.

Before the primaries, Harry polled very poorly against an unknown opponent. After the primary his numbers got better, mostly because Sharron has been painted as kooky and extreme, neither of which she is, but she has been smeared by the Dems.

If he wins, it won’t have been the long time Nevadans such as myself who put him there, but the idiots who have moved here to escape the mess they made in their own states.

To learn where Reid made all his millions, just go the archives of the Las Vegas Sun and you can read the whole sordid story. The MSM won’t cover the story of Reid’s cozy deals but it is all right there in the Las Vegas Sun archives.
Angle is not nimble enough to really bring home these points about Reid. If Danny Tarkanian had been the GOP candidate, he would have cleaned Harry’s clock. I do not understand why the Nevada primary voters didn’t vote for Tarkanian in a landslide but if Reid escapes with another term, those primary voters who did not vote for Tarkanian should give a public apology to the American people for giving us 6 more years of easy money Harry.

…but the idiots who have moved here to escape the mess they made in their own states.

I live in The People’s Socialist Quagmire of California and I hear the libtards complain about jobs, economy, etc. Their answer? Move out of state! And what do they do when they get there? Why, they demand the same socialism that screwed CA!

The definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

Perfect logic proving liberals and socialists are insane.
