$7,500 Per Person for **Dinner With Obama (**Dinner With Obama Not Included)

Preparing to host a dinner for the President of the United States is a huge undertaking, as one wealthy Rhode Island woman discovered when she decided to host a $7,500 a seat DCCC fundraising dinner featuring Barack Obama.

In the days leading up to last night’s fundraising dinner, the Providence Journal outlined what was involved in serving the president:

When President Obama sits down to dinner on Monday night in Providence, Rhode Island fruit and vegetables, cheeses, meats and chocolates will be on the table. From community gardens to a vineyard, the state’s culinary community has grown to the point it can feed a president from its own backyard.

As soon as Johnnie Chace knew she’d host the president for a fundraiser for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee at her home with husband Arnold “Buff” Chace, she followed one very local path to serve what she hopes is an amazing meal.

“The first thing I thought was this is a great chance to showcase Rhode Island and focus on the hard-working people who bring us our food,” she said.

Preparing the food for the $7,500-a-seat fundraiser are the chef/owners of the iconic Providence restaurant Al Forno, George Germon and Johanne Killeen. They were to be out of town on Monday, but when Chace called them two weeks ago, they changed their plans to serve the president.

The chefs should have kept their original plans, because the president dashed before dining:

President Obama’s final stop was a $7,500-a-head fundraiser in the well-appointed home of Arnold “Buff” and Johnnie Chace on the East Side, not far from Brown University.

The president spoke for about 20 minutes, then left before the dinner of locally grown foods by celebrated Rhode Island chefs — including lobster risotto — that Mrs. Chace had planned.
[...]
Mr. Obama concluded his remarks at about 7:30, saying he couldn’t stay for dinner.

“I’ve got to go home to tuck in the girls and walk the dog and scoop the poop,” he said.

There’s no greater compliment you can pay to chefs than by talking about dog s*#t just before everybody eats and then skipping out on the meal they cancelled their prior engagements in order to serve you.

But I’m sure Bo appreciated the contents of his doggie bag, and the Democrats appreciate the tens of thousands of dollars from which these fools and their money were soon parted. But it’s far from the first time that’s happened, so maybe they’re used to it.

So the comment that “Obama treats RI like an atm machine” is in fact correct. This President has no class or political sense. To think that so many white Americans were guilted into voting for this no experience, no work ethic, no class, communist because he smiled while he was giving his opponents the finger is truly disheartening. I understand black Americans vote, as a symbol of the gains in race relations, but What the hell were you middle class hard working white Americans thinking. And considering everything I just said, the president’s excuse for not staying isn’t because he had to tuck his girls in or pick up after his dog, it is because his arrogance, even to fellow democracts who are trying to save his as* is on-call 24/7. 2008 was a choice between diseased whores-the Republicans choose poorly in all too many primaries. Try to get a copy of A Choice Not an Echo by Phyllis Schlafly (1964). Phyllis Schlafly’s A Choice Not an Echo is now available for free online at Scribd.

I bought a used copy in 2008, and that book opened my eyes to many things.

It is more appropriate now than ever.

Back-Room deals, behind closed doors, are very much part of the process of how American Presidents are chosen.

    ———————————-

    (soapbox on)

    One example from 2008:

On February 5, 2008, Mitt Romney gave his word that he would keep fighting “all the way to the convention”.

The VERY NEXT DAY, February 6th, he met behind closed doors with unnamed “prominent Republicans” who convinced him to drop out of the race in return for their support for trying to make him the VP in 2008 and the Presidential nominee in 2012.

But the candidate and his advisers huddled behind closed doors to count delegates and determine whether it was mathematically—and realistically—possible to topple McCain. Some advisers reached out to gauge the feelings of prominent Republicans.

The day after that, February 7th, Romney quit the race with the absolute worst excuse for quitting that I’ve ever heard:

MR. ROMNEY: … Now if I fight on in my campaign, all the way to the convention — (cheers, applause). I want you to know I’ve given this a lot of thought. I’d forestall the launch of a national campaign and, frankly, I’d be making it easier for Senator Clinton or Obama to win.

    AUDIENCE MEMBERS: No! Boo!

MR. ROMNEY: Frankly, in this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign be a part of aiding a surrender to terror.

But Romney was willing to surrender his promise, his integrity, in return for the support of those “prominent Republicans” he met with behind closed doors the day before.

He was willing surrender the nomination to John McCain, who had not yet secured 1191 pledged delegates. Neither Romney nor Huckabee had to get to 1191 pledged delegates… they merely had to keep McCain from reaching 1191. And McCain was almost out of public financing money. Had Romney kept his promise from February 5, and kept fighting, it is a very real possibility that Romney and Huckabee could have won enough primaries to keep McCain from crossing the 1191 threshold.

It would have gone to a brokered convention, and I seriously doubt that McCain would have emerged as the nominee.

Had Romney been a man of his word, fought all the way to the convention, and won the nomination, I would have been happy to vote for him.

Instead, Romney sold out to the shadow government, sold out to McCain, and even went so far as to “release” his delegates to McCain on February 14, after Huckabee won Kansas on February 9 with nearly 60% of the vote.

For all the talk of Huckabee supposedly conspiring with McCain in West Virginia (which was completely directed by McCain’s camp, without any involvement by Huckabee), it was Romney who conspired with the McCain campaign when he, a week after quitting, “released” his delegates to McCain.

    (soapbox off)

Umm, the Chace’s got just what they deserve from Obeyme. He doesn’t waste time on the “little people”. If they were charging $25,000 to $30,000 ala Barb Streisand, he would’ve stuck around for the main course. A pox on all these elitist dems with their radical agenda.
