Corruptocrat Alexi Giannoulias, who sought to claim Barack Obama’s old Senate seat, is projected to lose tonight to liberal Republican Mark Kirk, according to AP:

The Associated Press has projected Republican Mark Kirk the winner of the Illinois Senate race. The latest returns show Kirk narrowly leading Democratic challenger Alexi Giannoulias 48 percent to 46 percent with 93 percent of precincts reporting. Early returns came in heavy, with city of Chicago numbers giving Giannoulias the illusion of a 2-to-1 edge over Kirk.

It’s a victory that should be greeted with muted cheers, given Kirk’s cap-and-tax, big government advocacy on Capitol Hill.

Tea Party activists haven’t forgotten — and won’t.

Kirk voted with the Democrat majority to impose a massive national energy tax on Americans in the name of stopping global warming. He ignored EPA’s suppression campaign and supported increasing your utility bills and killing jobs despite mounting doubts about both the science and cost-benefit wisdom of draconian greenhouse gas regulations. And he promised not to pander to eco-radicals as a Senator the way he did in the House.

You will be held to that promise. Don’t screw it up, Sen.-elect Kirk.
