We Get What We’re Forced to Pay For: Federal Contractor Tells Workers to Vote for Murkowski

By Doug Powers  •  November 7, 2010 09:30 AM

A federal contractor speaks at an air base and essentially tells workers that, if they want to keep their jobs, they’ll vote for primary-loser-who-refused-to-go-away Lisa Murkowski, because she’s on the appropriations subcommittee that steers a lot of money to Alaska — a subcommittee the other candidates won’t be able to get on.

Video from The Blaze by way of HAP:

Ah the perks of incumbency and continued access to our money.

Speaking of the federal contractor urging people to spell Murkowski’s name correctly on the ballot, there’s always hope for next week’s manual recount that most Murkowski write-in voters learned to spell her name from the url on Murkowski’s first web ad, which, ironically enough, was about teaching people how to spell her name:

It’s a pity that Thomas Jefferson didn’t enunciate the principle of the separation of State and Economics while he was at it. We might have been spared so much.

Historical side-note: Post-WWII Albert Speer (of all people) figured it out — to be sure with the help on a newspaper article by the great von Mises — but most politicians can’t or won’t.

It’s still a secret ballot. If they voted for Lisa because they were told to, they aren’t smart enough to vote in the first place. Like Californians, Alaskans will get the government they deserve – but unfortunately, they’re inflicting it on the rest of us, too.

It is unseemly for our elected officials to appear to cling to their seat of power so blatantly. Murkowski is a disgrace and has shamed our congress and the good people of Alaska. I sincerely hope that if she wins she will switch parties. After all, she is just a democrap at heart (democrap: one who loots our national treasury to buy elections).

It does seem that at least a plurality of Alaska voters wrote in Murkowski-one spelling or another. I would think it is now an Alaska issue. That the Republican Senators let her keep her committee seat is OUR issue. We still have our Alaska hunt scheduled-there is more to Alaska than Murkowski. If she can cook we might invite her to do so ;)

Again I say: No money for the National Republican Senatorial Committee–they spend foolishly.

One thing is this guy is violating Federal regulations. You are not allowed to campaign in any form (to include telling someone who they should vote for) on a military installation. This goes for Federal employees and contractors, so this guy should be placed immediately on administrative leave pending an investigation.

Off topic, but still pretty darned funny:

Strong winds on Sunday played a bit of a spoilsport for the red carpet send off to the Obamas for Delhi as the gusts blew away the rug twice despite the best efforts of officials who finally decided to get rid of it to avoid an embarrassment.

Sounds to me like someone is trying to tell Obama he aint all that!

Rules are for fools. That’s what the Dems think when it comes down to it.

True, but it will be interesting to see if the Republicans in the House will start an investigation into these kinds of rule breaking.

I call lots of senators and congress people with my concerns about bills pending in Congress. When they try to peg me down on what my zip code is, preparatory to their telling me that they are ONLY answerable to their constituents, I tell them that any action they take in the floors of Congress affects everybody. WE, therefore, should be able to express our views to all 535 members of Congress.

I’m sorry that I have to say this but Alaskans love two things: nepotism and federal pork. Alaskans again and again elect the lightweight sons and daughters of parents who were elected officials. Alaskans willingly went out of their way to vote for Murkowski, who has no accomplishments of her own. She is a daughter of Frank Murkowski, a lifetime pol who never met a payroll in his life. If the voters of Alasksa are so eager to vote for Lisa, who has never signed the front of a check, only the back, then I have no sympathy for them. Alaska’s other Senator, Mark Begich, is the lightweight son of a heavyweight dad, former Congressman Nick Begich, who passed away in a plane crash tragically. Nick Begich was a very smart, talented politician. Mark has no accomplishments beyond having a dad who was smart and accomplished. But the voters in Alaska once again elected somebody to office who, like Lisa Murkowski, believes that being the offspring of a politician means you have to show nothing else.
Don’t forget, Alaskans elected the Kong of Pork, Ted Stevens, five or six times. Stevens was not in any sense a conservative. He lived off earmarks and treated the federal treasury like his private piggy bank. Alaskans also elected nutcase Mike Gravel to the US Senate. So don’t cry for me, Alaska.

This is the same mindset that enslaved Washington State but has now combined directly with California Marxism over the last 30 years.
