Happy Birthday Marine Corps!
**Written by Doug Powers
Today marks the 235th birthday of the United States Marine Corps.
From Marines.com:
During the American Revolution, many important political discussions took place in the inns and taverns of Philadelphia, including the founding of the Marine Corps.
A committee of the Continental Congress met at Tun Tavern to draft a resolution calling for two battalions of Marines able to fight for independence at sea and on shore.
The resolution was approved on November 10, 1775, officially forming the Continental Marines.
As the first order of business, Samuel Nicholas became Commandant of the newly formed Marines. Tun Tavern’s owner and popular patriot, Robert Mullan, became his first captain and recruiter. They began gathering support and were ready for action by early 1776.
Each year, the Marine Corps marks November 10th with a celebration of the brave spirit which compelled these men and thousands since to defend our country as United States Marines.
On this 235th birthday of the Marines, as the cake tradition endures, we’re also bringing our Project Valour-IT fundraiser into the home stretch. As many of you know from previous posts, we’re again taking part on Team Marine for this year’s fundraiser. As evidenced by the totals below, so many of you have already responded generously.
The fundraiser ends tomorrow, Veterans Day, but it’s a great cause that needs our support year around.
Click here to learn more or below to donate. If you’ve already donated, thanks so much!
Happy birthday, Marine Corps! Thanks to all those who serve, who have served, and to their families.

Happy Birthday. As we refer to them in the 27th Infantry
Our Little Helpers.
We DID NOT refer to them as Our Little Helpers when they were around–might have caused problems
But Happy Birthday

Let your sidearm be like American Express:
Don’t Leave home without it.
I once had a cartoon book, drawn and written by a Vietnam Marine. In it, he depicts a couple of Marines in a bar. One of them is saying, “Did you know the Marines were started in a bar? Which makes sense, someone would have to be drunk to say ‘Let’s start a Marine Corps’.”
Anyway, Happy Birthday, Marines!!
Happy Birthday to all the Devil Dogs here at MM.com — and all the Marines across the globe!

Happy anniversary to the USMC and thanks to all the Marines who are serving and who have served their country honorably and faithfully.
Thanks! I only served in peace-time, 1982-1990. Had I known Saddam was going to invade Kuwait when I was getting out, I would have stayed in and continued to this day. One of my few regrets in life.
Having said that, the Marines are the world’s finest fighting force. No better friend. No greater enemy.
I spent time as an Aviation Ordnanceman, putting bombs, missiles, etc., on the F-4 Phantom. It was a real “blast”!
It was my pleasure to serve. I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

Happy Birthday Marine Corps and thank you all!
A Navy Chaplain who loved serving with the Marines had a stamp on his desk. It said “TUN” for Tun Tavern in Philly, the birthplace of the Marines.
He would stamp any Marine’s head — just so it could read “NUT”!
Gotta love those Marines, their Navy Chaplains, and a good sense of humor.
On the same note: tomorrow-November 11- is Veterans Day. Let’s not forget to put out the flags. Pull it out tonight and put it by the coffeemaker.
Veterans Day, once known as Armistice Day, was the day the WW 1 vets sold poppies. As those grand old men faded away the WW ll vets took up the call but we are losing them too. If you see one selling poppies buy a bunch–you’ll make that grand old man’s day.
To all Veterans:
To the Marine Corps:
Thanks to all, Happy Birthday to my fellow Marines and a special thanks to our Corpsman brothers. They go everywhere we do and turn their backs to the danger to keep us alive. A lot of Marines are celebrating this day thanks to your courage, dedication and professionalism. Semper Fidelis, Y’all.
Did you ever wonder why the Marine Corps Hymn starts with the words:
The “shores of Tripoli” refers to our military’s first battles against Muslim terrorists.
Had the pleasure of enjoying a happy hour or two with some Marines stationed at our AF base. Honorable men all – ahh, good memories.
Happy Birthday to the Marine Corps. Thank God we have such wonderful men and women to defend our Republic.

Happy Birthday, Marines, one and all.
May you have fair winds and following seas and may the wind be always at your back.

I am so proud to have served this great country in the Marine Corps. Thank you to those who are still serving, and thank you to Sgt. Nick Nolte, LCpl Bunny Long, and their families. God bless them all.
Semper fi.
Happy Birthday USMC.
Thank you vets and to all serving.
Or, as we in the Navy called them,
“Seagoing Bellhops.”
President Ronald Reagan summed up perfectly why America loves the Marine Corps when he said, “Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But, the Marines don’t have that problem.”
Happy Birthday Marines!
Semper Fidelis to my brothers and sisters on our birthday.
1998-2004: Pretty good years for me.
***
I worked with Marines during my 2 years in the Army. And for 41 years in the radar and missile business. They were some of the best people I knew.
***
And they have showed up and won at the most critical times in our history. They broke the German lines in WW1 and started the critical breakthrough that ended the war.
***
Good job, Marines! When you care to send the very best.

Glücklicher Geburtstag Teufelhunde!!!
Happy Birthday from a grateful citizen.
SEMPER FI and Happy Birthday to all Devil Dogs from a proud Devil Doc (HM2) who served with the Corps from 70-72 with 1/4, 2/1, and 3rd Recon.
The above wishes do not apply to Senator (Elect) Richard Blumenthal from Connecticut. Stolen valor by lying about his service in Viet Nam makes him a total scumbag, IMHO.

Happy Birtday USMC!
Thank you all Marines for your dedicated service past, present and future!
This carrier sailor says;

Happy 235th Birthday USMC!
I know that the bravest men in the sky are Marine pilots, I’ve watched their aircraft maintainers in action… and they still flew!
Just a little professional ribbing from a wingnut, Happy Birthday Devil Dogs!
Someone on this blog recently posted this link. Those of you who were Marines will get nostalgic, those of you who weren’t will still get a kick out of it. Scroll down and check out the videos…
Happy Birthday to the Marine Corps.
BTW – Obama is out of town because TOTUS couldn’t get him to pronounce it correctly…
Happy Birthday, Jarheads!!!
The only way to improve “Marine” is to put “Sub” in front of it.
You boys sher gots purty…….uniforms!
Oorah Marines, from the oldest fighting force in the USA.

Best thing our son ever did was to become a Marine. We are so proud of him. We are a Military family. Ma-in-law actually did wear combat boots.
No matter where I am, if I recognize the other person has served i.e. hat / shirt / tattoo I always thank them for their service. If they are proud enough to wear the hat then I’m proud enough to say “Thank you.”
Wonder if Obama ever learned the difference?
Happy Birthday to all my fellow former Marines and to all current Marines … Semper Fi my Marine brothers …
Many may not be aware but the owner of GoDaddy.com is also a proud former Marine … every year he posts a video tribute to the Marine Corps on November 10 …

Love the Marines, as my late father served in WWII, Pacific Theater (Peleliu). I am a very proud and grateful daughter for his service, and for the service of our great military. May God bless you all, and thank you.

Happy Birthday to the USMC and especially to the Security Force that worked for me in UK. Thanks also to Fox News for all the Marine Birthday coverage this morning. And a hearty “Get Screwed” to ABC, NBC, and CBS who were too busy covering anything but the Marine Corps on their birthday.
