Open-borders lobby to Dingy Harry: Knock, knock. Pay up.

By Michelle Malkin  •  November 10, 2010 04:51 PM

The open-borders lobby went all in for Barack Obama, who promised them “comprehensive immigration reform” — translation: blanket amnesty — and failed to deliver.

Then they went all in for Harry Reid (reminder: Harry Reid’s non-English-speaking voting bloc).

And now, the OBL expects “payback.”

Roll Call reports:

Immigration reform advocates said Wednesday that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid owes “a debt” to Hispanics for helping him get re-elected, and they expect payback in the coming weeks with Senate action on a contentious immigration proposal.

That proposal, of course, is the illegal alien student bailout otherwise known as the “DREAM Act.” Before the midterms, it failed to garner enough votes to get past cloture when Reid attached it to the Senate defense authorization bill.

Activists, focus your attention of the Soros/open-borders Republicans who have co-sponsored and/or voted for the DREAM Act in the past.

Reminder:

Just a reminder about the open-borders Republicans who have supported the DREAM Act:

Soros Republican John McCain was a co-sponsor of the DREAM Act and reiterated his support at a La Raza panderfest in 2008:

Utah GOP Sen. Orrin Hatch is one of the original architects of the DREAM Act. So is Indiana GOP Sen. Dick Lugar. Other GOP Senators who have voted for the DREAM Act: Bob Bennett, Sam Brownback, Norm Coleman, Susan Collins, Larry Craig. Chuck Hagel, Kay Bailey Hutchison, Trent Lott, Mel Martinez, Olympia Snowe. Former Arkansas GOP governor and presidential candidate Mike Huckabee is not only for the DREAM Act, but for vastly expanding tuition benefits for illegal aliens.

Harry Reid isn’t the only one out of touch.

***

McCain tells illegal alien students he will work to “resolve their issues” and pass a DREAM Act after he “secures the border,” which shouldn’t take long, he says.

No surprise at all.

Let me guess, McCain will claim the border is more secure now than ever before, because Big Sis said so.

I am sure they will try and the only thing that may stop them is a fillibuster in the senate. One more reason it is important to see that Mark Kirk is seated immediately as he will probably be needed to counter Graham or McAnmnesty.

I’m sorry but I blame the Republican primary voters in Nevada for sending Harry Reid back to his Senate perch. It was well known eight months ago that Danny Tarkanian would easily defeat Harry Reid. It was also well known that Sharron Angle would have no realistic chance to defeat Reid. The Republican voters in the primary chose Angle over Tarkanian. You reap what you sew. I wrote several posts warning Republican primary voters in Nevada that they were doing Harry Reid’s work for him when they voted for Angle. On primary night, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama and Chuck Schumer were hootin’ and hollerin’ when the results showed that Angle and not Tarkanian would face Reid. Several years ago, the Las Vegas Sun wrote a devastating series of articles about how Reid reaped millions from being cut into land deals that depended on his clout as a senator and politician. Angle did not do her homework before the debate with Reid and Reid deftly fibbed his way out of the issue. Danny Tarkanian would never have let Reid dance away like that. During the next six years, as Reid gets even worse, Republican voters in Nevada should go to confession and at least unburden themselves of what they have caused.

We have a long fight ahead of us. Nothing short of a two thirds majority in both the house and senate would have saved us from two more years of watching our country being dismantled by an anti-American left with power. However if we were able to stop them now then more than half of the population would remain asleep. We are going to need the entire country to be awake for what lies ahead. When 80 percent plus are jobless and we are again under financial and military or terrorist attack then the remaining patriots will awake and arise to join the fight for our republic. Prepare and awake your fellow Americans.

*We must continue to remind them that we will not tolerate them asking us to sit in the back of the bus while they continue to import people we don’t need and export jobs we do need, regardless of the unemployment rate; It is simply that we want our country to thrive, not die as it surely will with illegal alien amnesty in any form or fashion!

Perhaps the University of California students who most likely voted for Democrats last week will learn some valuable lessons about politics and economics if the Democrats try to pass the DREAM Act.

University of California students would pay an extra 8 percent in tuition starting next fall, or $822 a year for undergrads, under a proposal by UC President Mark Yudof. If approved by the UC regents in San Francisco next week, annual tuition for undergraduates would jump from $10,302 to $11,124 – about double what it was six years ago. Add in the mandatory fees, and the cost would rise to $12,150. Graduate level fees would also rise by 8 percent.

Tuition will still be free to more than half of undergraduates because state Cal Grants cover the tuition for students who qualify for financial aid, Yudof said.

    http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2010/11/08/MN1U1G8V8L.DTL

Hmmm…How excited will UC students be when they figure out how expensive it is going to be for them to pay for a university level education for ILLEGAL immigrants?

“Undocumented” immigrants would likely find it much easier to qualify for the “free” tuition from Cal Grants since they are more likely to have “undocumented” income.

UC students need to think more clearly if they ever consider voting for a Democrat again.

Much depends on how Tea Parties might respond to any lame duck action…or other nitwittery up to 2012.

Target those of both parties who had the fight of their lives in the last election, or the leftist pols in those states where other leftists lost, and they likely will not be so quick to consider something like this.

I agree, AlohaGuy! A University of California education is a steal for the students. Not so much if you are a taxpayer who is subsidizing the rest of the cost of their education.

However, that didn’t stop the students from protesting the tuition hikes.

BERKELEY — More than 500 protesters rallied against tuition fee hikes and budget cuts at the University of California at Berkeley today, including about 100 who planned to gather at the school’s library well into Thursday evening, a university spokeswoman said.

Students at other UC and California State University schools also held protests at their respective campuses.

The Berkeley protestors submitted a list of demands, including free education for all and for the university to rescind a 32 percent tuition fee increase that took place in the 2009 academic year.

    http://www.ktvu.com/news/25320012/detail.html

Alas, after the results of last week’s election, we can’t hide the insanity that is California any longer.

Be sure to watch the video of the protest in the article above, so you can see this for yourself. It really is unbelievable how spolied these California children are!

I’m always amazed when Berzerkley’s whiners protest against something like this, without ever calling out the outrageous salaries, perks or bennies their perfessers and administrators get.

Do these dolts think their tuition just gets lost in a black hole?

Multi-nationals have no loyalty to country by definition, they see us as a market, not a nation. They see people as workers, documented or undocumented, no difference. Memo to foreign “visitors”: Please return to your homeland

As a state Governor from July 1996 – January 2007, Huckabee had to deal with the reality that neither President Bill Clinton nor President George W. Bush was going to send the visitors home and seal the border.

A Governor could not change the President’s open-border policies. So Huckabee was trying to do the best he could with the cards that were dealt him.

But as a Presidential candidate in 2008, things were different, because now Huckabee had an opportunity to actually set the Federal policy direction, rather than have to just accept the policies of others.

No Presidential candidate took a firmer stand for secure borders and against illegal immigration than the stand taken by Mike Huckabee.

Huckabee made it clear that he would physically secure both our southern and northern borders and prevent amnesty. Yet Michelle Malkin ignores this and portrays Huckabee as being for open borders and amnesty.

Here is an honest representation of the bullet items of Huckabee’s postition as a Presidential candidate:

    1. Build the Fence
    2. Increase Border Patrol
    3. Prevent Amnesty
    4. Enforce the Law on Employers
    5. Establish an Economic Border
    6. Empower Local Authorities
    7. Ensure Document Security
    8. Discourage Dual Citizenship
    9. Modernize the Process of Legal Immigration

Follow the link I gave above to see the details behind the bullet items.
