Middle Schooler Told to Remove American Flag from Bike Because it Could Stir Racial Tensions; Update: School Responds

Denair appears to be one of those few Republican pockets sewn into the left-wing straight-jacket that is Kalifornistan, but that obviously doesn’t mean it’s immune from the crazy:

DENAIR – 13-year-old Cody Alicea rides with an American flag on the back of his bike. He says he does this to be patriotic and to honor veterans, like his own grandfather, Robert. He’s had the flag on his bike for two months but Monday, was asked told to take it down.

A school official at Denair Middle School told Cody some students had been complaining about the flag and it was no longer allowed on school property.
[...]
Cody’s grandfather says the school was concerned about racial tensions or uprisings because of the flag. He feels if there was really a problem it should have been brought up two months ago, not during Veterans week.

Substitute Old Glory with a flag from Mexico, a picture of Che Guevara, or a string of condom packages and anybody who complained would be in for a “teachable moment” lecture about free speech rights and tolerance — but an American flag? That’s going too far!

Video from Fox40:

Update by way of The Blaze:

The school’s superintendent is now saying that the boy was told to remove the flag out of concerns for his safety, and that the school will now allow him to fly it again.

Either the offered reason is less than truthful or the school suddenly isn’t concerned for the child’s safety.

I don’t see where Cody Alicea states he was threatened by anyone. I would think it kids had been making threats, at some point even one would have done so directly to him. This is a B.S. statement by the official meant to cover the a** of whoever at the school just did not want to see a flag. Of course, the non-existent “students” cannot be named because of their minor status. The schools story stinks.

With honest patriots about to get a lot more control of the House in January, I hope they’ll consider bringing BACK the “House Unamerican Activities Committee”

Under the mandate of Public Law 601, passed by the 79th Congress, the committee of nine representatives investigated suspected threats of subversion or propaganda that attacked “the form of government guaranteed by our Constitution.”

I think LaRaza fits within that description as easily as did Nazism and Communism did in the days of that committee’s past.

That’s one of the reasons but don’t lose sight of the fact that parents who don’t give a rat’s *ss about their kid’s future are going to be the last ones to bother home-schooling them or make any financial sacrifices to send them to private school. Bad parents share a large part of the blame and it’s no wonder they are also the least likely to complain about the poor education their kids are getting in a public school because – it’s no worse than the one they had.

Even if the school backed down on this, they still need to have their e-mails flooded with messages from true Americans telling them in no uncertain language that traitors to the Constitution will not be tolerated in this country anymore.

Uh, geographically speaking, California is predominantly conservative. Take a look at the county-by-county election map. Except for the L.A. region, the S.F. bay, the north coast, and a few scattered counties, almost the entire state is red. The problem is that the majority of the state’s population lives in those few blue areas.
