Another Pickup for the GOP: Bean Concedes to Walsh in Illinois

For Illinois Republican Joe Walsh, life’s been good to him so far (sorry), because three term incumbent Democrat Melissa Bean has conceded the race:

Republicans get to add another red seat to Congress.

Following the completion of ballot counting, Democratic Rep. Melissa Bean on Tuesday night called her Republican challenger, Joe Walsh, and conceded the race for Illinois’ 8th Congressional District.

Roughly 300 votes separated the two candidates.

You may remember Walsh as being the candidate whose supporters launched into an “unauthorized” Pledge of Allegiance at an event sponsored by the League of Women’s Voters.

Chalk up another disappointment for the soon-to-be defunct Obama Boosters Club.

The Dems misunderestimated the number of dead people votes needed to win.

I had a better feeling about this seat going GOP than holding Kirk”s seat in the 10th district. Happy to say we did our part in the Land of Lincoln by flipping 4 seats and a senate seat as well. We just hit the Superfecta in the House races and half of the Daily Double in the Senate. I’m ecstatic, now if I only can change my screen name…..

Hey Ill, you don’t happen to live in Schaumburg, do you? This guy won the Sam Adams Alliance award, and now he’s running for Mayor. You should check him out, if you’re in Schaumburg. :)

No Marco, I’m 20 miles west in Kane County, I escaped C(r)ook County almost 30 years ago. Best thing I ever did. Wish the guy luck, Schaumburg twp is one of the more conservative areas, but there are still too many lib/commies for me.

    Good news, indeed!

I live in Bean’s district, and couldn’t wait to vote against her. Joe ran against her using his own money and the contributions he received – he got nothing from the national GOP. It seems the geniuses on the national level felt he had no chance. I can’t think of any advertising he did, other than yard signs. Bean, on the other hand, received plenty of support from the DNC. We saw plenty of TV ads for Bean, but none for Joe. My wife and I received lots of mailings detailing what a vile and evil person Joe Walsh is. Did you know Walsh wants to do away with the EPA (that closed the deal for me!) And that he bakes children into a pie? (kidding!). Seriously, if he had gotten any help at all from the RNC, he would have won this going away.

I’m surprised he pulled it off. Over the past two weeks they’ve been counting absentee ballots, a bag of which apparently was located at a Starbucks in Joliet. And the local dems must be slipping – they couldn’t “locate” another 350 ballots that have would put Bean over the top?

But the best part of this is the verification of the yards signs planted along the route I drive to work: “Hey, Melissa Bean, your pink slip is showing!”

Yes she did. She said, “What the F’s the matter with Obama? Couldn’t he help me manufacture 300 F’ing votes?”

It’s all in how you say it.

You’d think those would have been for Bean. I mean the prisoners voting and all.

I knew Joe Walsh way back in the mid-90s. He ran for Congress against incumbent fossil Sid Yeats.

One of his criticisms of Sid was that he was never in his district. He held a contest called “Where’s Sid Yeats”. Anyone who found Sid within his district would win money ($500 or so). The winner ended up being Sid’s doorman.

The week before Election Day, he rode his bike all around the borders of the district. (It may have been the night before also, I think.)

He truly cares about Illinois and has a heart of gold. he is one member we can be proud to claim as our own.

As an election judge in IL-8 (Schaumburg twshp), if I had an eagle eyed poll watcher, I could have disqualified 20% of the total voting. People in that Chicago Project relocation precinct were volunteering their out-of-town (and out of state) ID. Per Cook County and Illinois law, I couldn’t notice that. A poll watcher could.
Joe won overwhelmingly, beyond the “Margin of Fraud”, but not all fraud was brought out this time. It will be worse in two years, both with unactivated fraud and additional fraud enabling.
