Ted Turner Suggests Child Offsets; Poor People Overcrowding Planet, Obstructing View of His Vacant 2 Million Acres

Ted Turner has five kids. If you have more than one, it’s too many — you’re killing the planet.
This guy gets more whacked by the second:
Mr. Turner – a long-time advocate of population control – said the environmental stress on the Earth requires radical solutions, suggesting countries should follow China’s lead in instituting a one-child policy to reduce global population over time. He added that fertility rights could be sold so that poor people could profit from their decision not to reproduce.
Don’t you love how Turner just assumes that it’s on “the poor” to stop having kids? Who has a bigger carbon footprint — poor kids living in small dwellings and walking everywhere, or the children of billionaires who borrow dad’s private jet to go to the prom?
Isn’t there a more polite way for Ted to essentially say “the rich should inherit the earth and the poor should just f-in die off” than this? I’ll give him points though for trying to add a hearty dose of free market capitalism to his push for totalitarian ecocide. Ted will do anything to avoid allowing anybody on this horribly overpopulated planet to live on his two million acres of land!
Last year, Turner, along with Bill Gates, David Rockefeller Jr, Warren Buffett, George Soros, Michael Bloomberg and Oprah “I am not a lesbian!” Winfrey met in Manhattan and decided the world has too many non-billionaires.
I wish I’d have been one of the lowly servants at that meeting, because I would have been happy to tell them how they could have decreased the world’s population by a full seven people before the meeting even ended.

When he had his children, the population problem was not as severe as it is now, and it was not anticipated or known of as widely then as it is now.
He is correct: we need to reduce populations to sustainable levels. We are already living unsustainably: we are
reducing biomass in our soils, pumping watersheds and other water sources dry, and damaging the environment just to maintain the populations we have now. Increasing the populations and decreasing the environment’s ability to sustain them must end badly.
Hypocrisy on the part of wealthy and other environmentalists has no physical relevance. The problem either exists, which I believe – based on overwhelming empirical evidence, or it does not.
I agree that the unwillingness of these people to walk the walk – by reducing their eco footprints – damages the credibility of the issue, and they deserve our scorn for that.
Like I said in another thread, socialism produces masses of miserable starving people which ultimately has the thugs running it, along with their elitist enablers like Turner, facing the question whatever in the world can they ‘DO’ about all of them?

As far as overpopulation goes, I’m of the mind that mother nature will take care of herself. Once the population exceeds capacity, there will be a die off. Basic land/wildlife management. Either reduce the population through some means (hunting, sterilization, transplanting or nature will do it for us). Now I’m not advocating that we start killing undesirables in the population, just that if we do nothing nature will take care of it.
As far as reducing world population goes…….

What we should do is this:
1) End all benefits after about the fourth child at most!!! Some women in the UK have extra children just to get the benefit!
2) Mothers should have to spend a reasonable amount of time with their children every day or every week at most. They’re THEIR children, nobody elses, and it is only natural that they should stay with them.
These things would help the birth rate decline a bit I would hope, not geriatric fool Turner’s eugenics-based nonsense.

Good Ole Ted. Man certainly has changed since the days when he made a public plea to buy stock in his television station in Charlotte, NC. In order to save the station which broadcast nothing but family friendly reruns, etc., he promised to repay everyone with interest. The amount he was asking for was around $8 or so.
He got enough money to save the station and he did repay, with interest, everyone one who invested and provided a name and address. At the time, he was an unabashed capitalist and played the system to the hilt.
Also, his plantation home in SC did not have air conditioning and he made his kids work for anything they received. Now, do you understand why you never hear about them at all?
