Harry Reid Can’t Understand Why His Colleagues Neglected Their Constitutional Earmark Duties

By Doug Powers  •  December 17, 2010 11:13 AM

**Written by Doug Powers

Back in October, Harry Reid reminded voters how tirelessly he’s worked to fulfill his constitutional duty of spending as much taxpayer money as humanly possible. Now Reid’s humble Jeffersonian mission is being slowed and he can’t understand why.

A little frustrated, Harry?

I think Harry’s angry because, hey, he single-handedly saved us from a worldwide depression and this is the thanks he gets?

Tea Party on, everybody.

Enjoy the highest unemployment rate in the country, Nevada. You’ve earned it fair and square.

I’ve been keeping my hard earned dollars out of Nevada since Reid became leader of the Senate…I’d like to do the same for California, but, regretably I live in the state…and will for the next 5 years, if it survives that long.

I don’t think earmarks per se are the problem, it is the process. Some of the projects that taxpayers are asked to fund are probably worthy causes.

Each earmark/project should see the light of day and be voted on for it’s merits. Sneaking them in during the still of the night means they probably wouldn’t get past the smell test when reviewd.

Hey, if Mississippi wants a bicycle or walking path, let Mississippians vote a tax increase to fund their park. Why should someone in North Dakota pay for it.

If the people in Iowa want the stench of their pig farms to go away, let them figure out a solution. The smell doesn’t bother me here my part of the country.

I’ll bet if the locals who are receiving this pork were asked to pay for it, they’d quickly reject it.

It’s always easier to have someone else fund your pet projects.

In fact, that is what a liberal defines as charity – using other people’s money to show their benevolence.

When I was young and foolish, working at a Mexican food-type restaurant, the guys in the kitchen were talking about this new pepper they had. Habanero. I had never heard of one before.

They made some habanero sauce, and everyone who tried just a little of it on something were all dying. To show them what REAL MEN are made of, I had them give me a shot glass of the stuff and drank it.

    Ow.

I could feel it burn all the way down. My eyes filled with tears, and my face swelled up. It took more than 15 minutes before I had recovered enough to say, “That… pepper… is… hot…”
