2010 Census Data: Population Shifts Suggest Continued Bad News for Dems

By Doug Powers  •  December 19, 2010 06:18 PM

**Written by Doug Powers

The 2010 Census data may prove to be a final verdict on the undeniable failure of the all-too-lengthy liberal experiment, because Americans are fleeing traditional Democrat strongholds like Tokyo residents from Godzilla:

WASHINGTON – The 2010 census report coming out Tuesday will include a boatload of good political news for Republicans and grim data for Democrats hoping to re-elect President Barack Obama and rebound from last month’s devastating elections.

The population continues to shift from Democratic-leaning Rust Belt states to Republican-leaning Sun Belt states, a trend the Census Bureau will detail in its once-a-decade report to the president. Political clout shifts, too, because the nation must reapportion the 435 House districts to make them roughly equal in population, based on the latest census figures.

Texas had the biggest gain and is expected to pick up four more House seats as a result. New York and Ohio were the biggest losers.

Combine this with last month’s elections that turned many state legislatures “red” — the same legislatures that will re-draw district maps — and there hasn’t been worse news for Democrats since The West Wing was canceled.

In the big picture, there are two ways Democrats can deal with this: Admit that their tax-happy, regulation-loving, fiscally incompetent, union favoring, public sector nurturing, debt ridden, sharp edges rounded off, politically correct, smoke free, salt free, fat free, common sense-free social and economic experiments have been colossal disasters — or they can continue to try to nationalize every aspect of America and pursue the extinction of greener pastures as fast as possible so people have nowhere which to escape. Which will it be?**

Are conservatives finally going to find the spine to stand their ground and fight? How about a conservative invasion of California? Let’s fight for the good states where the power lies, not the small backwater states who are an after-thought where political power is concerned.

The Virus Horribilis goes with them. What we NEED is to send Liberals (Virus Horribilis) to the blue states and rescue what ever Conservatives (Citizens Americanus). Concentrate the Liberals (Virus Horribilis) in as few states as possible. If modern medicine can save the Liberals (Virus Horribilis) from their sick and evil ways is to be seen. As with polio and smallpox until a cure or vaccine is developed all we can do is isolate the poor devils from the Healthy Conservatives (Citizens Americanus).

And just to be clear, the “rust belt” state I live in (PA) is gaining population, just not as fast as Texas and some other states. People are actually fleeing the most liberal states like NY and now CA.

Trying to spin it as the same old story of the “rust belt” losing population, and the “sun belt” gaining isn’t working for you AP. It’s liberal states losing population while conservative states gain. I expect it to become more pronounced as states like CA and NY go bankrupt and stop handing out all the freebies.

The question is whether those leaving are libs or conservatives. We conservatives are always being advised to leave Mexifornia as the country of really, really smart people prepare to surrender the best parts of America first.

Texas is gaining the lion’s share of these migrants so I expect the same rules will apply to them when the rest of the country advises those whiny Texans to run away and surrender their state to Mexico.

Here in CA, we aren’t in denial about the state of affairs. In Texas, despite having lost 2/3s of your state to illegals and liberals and the wave of new people, you still hold on fast to that provincialism that makes everyone mock Texans as blowhards. In five years, Texas will California. You can then follow the advice of your fellow Texans to California: leave.

I’ve been everywhere in this country and I swear that other than San Francisco and the Boston area, Texas is the most provincial area in the US. If thought Texas was better than CA I would live there now. Almost half of my book of clients is in Texas so it’s not about making a living. I am standing my ground and we’ll see how many of you Texans are still there once the reality settles in that you are now hopelessly outnumbered by illegals and liberals.

Sadly, I’ve already had to leave Texas (against my will). You see, it is hard to get certain positions in Texas, because no one wants to leave Texas, and everyone wants to come to Texas (picture California, but the opposite, lol).

The competition is much less steep in most other states. There, they have to entice people to move there.

And this is why Democrats move to red states, but conservatives don’t move to blue states. Why would a conservative want to move to a state that has been run into the ground?

The Democrats move to red states for the same reason parasites want to move to a new host after sucking dry their old host.

The public (generally) will not care about bad news. They will steep themselves in nonsense like Dancing and Idol to block out the idea that their candidate is an empty suit but has the catchiest slogan (which is all that matters since that is how we learned to vote all through high school).

No, they will continue to function by buying off Repubs, unions and stoopid people.

I too am cautious about celebrating a migration of liberals to conservative areas. The people don’t change they just bring their failed ideas with them. Fortunately they settle down in the urban areas to further ruin them but they still hold incredible power. Their centralized power base in the larger cities can often offset the votes cast throughout the rest of the state. Dems very rarely campaign outside of Atlanta in Georgia since that is the only area they need to take to ensure election and explains why Georgia has had it’s first Republican governor and now it’s second since Reconstruction. Our representatives in congress also illustrate this. We have 3 reps from Atlanta, all Democrats while the other 10 for the state are all Republicans. There was one other Democrat but he lost his reelection bid this year.

Manipulated demographic and population data is used to gerrymander districts – just like they used “Project Vote” is to “get out the vote” – for liberal candidates only.

Take a look at GA 13th in Atlanta, courtesy of far left Congross man David Scott. A bizarre looking crescent covering parts of 8 counties that makes no sense unless you overlay a demographic and average income map. Moving a district boundary a half mile here and there changes elections. Sometimes even a few blocks.

This is one thing the Dems are very adept at. They know where their people are and how to use them.

Wow, a LOT of bitter Californians here. Of course, if I was from California, I’d be bitter, too.

Surfing in the morning, skiing in the afternoon. I’m bitter today because it’s raining and I can’t go sit out at the pool under the palm trees.

    California has Big Sur:
    Big Sur
    Texas has Galveston.

Virginia Patriot, you won’t see me defending Perry and his ilk. But let’s face it, the illegal immigration will never be fixed unless the federal government does its job.

The sad fact is, if the federal government refuses to do its job (and prevents anyone from doing their job for them), then it doesn’t matter who the governor is.

Be glad you’re not a traveller stuck at Heathrow Airport for two days, as is my co-worker, wondering if you’ll get a flight home in time for Christmas.

The ONLY part about Texas I don’t like is the weather.

And yeah, Galveston has nasty water. I wouldn’t even step in it back when I lived near there.

Of course, I now live by a beach a lot nicer than Galveston. Probably not as nice as CA, but at least I don’t have to worry about falling into the ocean. :)

Perry ran last time as a border hawk and promptly turned around as soon as he was reelected and started pandering to hispanics. This time he didn’t even bother pretending he cares about illegal aliens. That’s not progress.

You are right, the federal government is responsible, but there is a lot that can be done to put pressure on them, look at AZ. Perry says Texas doen’t need that kind of law………………

Just kiddin’ with ya Trollman. I’ve visited all 50 states & there are nice things about all of them. What I don’t get is why so many Americans are so willing to give up on California, instead of fighting for it.

What cracks me up is how some of the Californians here are so arrogant towards everybody else, as if they are better, when in fact their state is the one leading the country off of the cliff.

This from the guy who comes on here and systematically insults people. Trollman your arrogance is showing.

Aw man, are you already out of “witty” remarks about my username?

Anyway, let me put it another way. Taking advice from California conservatives about how to stave off the onslaught of liberalism is like taking marriage advice from Elizabeth Taylor. ;)

The population shift is caused by the libs moving out of the areas they have destroyed into more conservative better run areas. Look what the Californians are doing to Colorado!

Wow. I wish this blog was around 70 years ago when we took in all your destitute great-granddaddies and helped them get jobs and make money so they could burp out your grandparents who would then spawn your parents and finally we would get all of you. Your welcome.

Actually, I come from a long line of Texans. You’ll find someone with my last name on Texas’ Declaration of Independence.

I did have an uncle who moved from Texas to California. He has since moved back to Texas. :)
