NYC Mayor Bloomberg Conducts Gun Sting in Neighboring… Arizona
**Written by Doug Powers
In the past, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has criticized Arizona’s immigration law from afar, but when it comes to gun law enforcement in that state, he seems to be operating a bit out of his mayoral jurisdiction, don’t you think?
NEW YORK – Weeks after the shooting in Tucson, sellers at an Arizona gun show allowed undercover investigators hired by New York City to buy semiautomatic pistols even after they said they probably couldn’t pass a background check, Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Monday.
“After Tucson, you would think that people, particularly at a gun show in Arizona, would have been much more careful in enforcing the law,” he said. “That unfortunately in some cases wasn’t the case.”
Bloomberg has authorized similar sting operations around the country as part of a push for tougher federal laws to help keep guns off the streets of New York.
In fairness to the newly self-appointed ruler of the Grand Canyon State, he panicked a little because he misunderstood and thought his people told him they were selling “salt weapons” in Arizona.
Lately we’ve heard a lot about “using a tragedy to forward a personal political agenda,” and this is yet another example:
The mayor conceded that most illegal guns in New York City are coming from states along the East Coast, but said the rampage in Tucson would bring national attention to the investigation.
What a Dupnik!
In the meantime, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio was unamused:

Good responses Sheriff Joe!
Bloomberg: completely.useless.tool.
So let me guess. The police, fire, and schools are fully funded. There are no potholes. All of the street and traffic lights work. There is no gov’t corruption.
No? Then why is this horses @$$ bothering with another city and state?!?! Fix your own problems first, Mayor Bonehead!
Well Nanny Bloomberg certainly came by his nickname honestly. I would think he would have his hands full anticipating the next winter storm coming to his city. Though maybe he thought he could buy flame throwers to melt the ice a little quicker.
Bloomberg, like all progressives, demonstrates once again that “the ends justifies the means.”

It’s reassuring to see that New York taxpayer’s money is being well spent by the rich Mayor Bloomberg. Maybe he needed a few pieces to protect his home in NYC!

Just a little grandstanding before he makes his presidential run on the gun and sodium control platform.
Maybe he’s moonlighting for the ATF, because I’m sure the job description for Mayor of NYC doesn’t include sting operations outside of NYC.
These damn liberals sure are picking the bones of the dead. But that is what vultures do.
But this is the cartoon character who stated the Times Square bomber was a Tea Party person upset with ObamaCare.

Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms
should be a convenience store,
NOT a government agency.
Curious to know the legality of Bloomy’s actions…they seem a little “odd, “overreaching,” and “activist”
As I understand it none of the buys broke any laws. Yawn.
If that slug bloomberg wants to do something useful, go to the mexican/AZ border and help stop illegal aliens from coming in!
L
What?!
And cut the supply of voters for Bloomberg and othe socialist America-destroyers?
What came over you?!
…and other….
Apologies.
Bloomberg is tiresome, at best. The NYC crowd need to keep him home and quiet, he’s bad even for their image.
Is he getting approval or the marching orders from the Federal level? What/who gives Bloomberg the impression that he can do such a thing (in another state)?
Is someone trying to pit state against state?
Errah, Did NYC taxpayers pay for this boondogle and did the cops actually return. Once someone escapes from New York and sees that a cheesburger does not cost $7 and the fries are cooked in oil that actually tastes good it hard to get them to return. The 5 kilos of illegal white powder they confiscated is actually salt for their fries.
Mayor BooB-Berg is an elitist MORON.
Absolutely. Remember when the people of New York were urged to boycott Arizona Tea? I’m still laughing at that one.
John you make me laugh out loud!!
He has done such a great job keeping new yorkers from protecting themselves he now wants to branch out and keep Americans living in other states from protecting themselves and having liberty.
Perhaps if Bloomie would practice a little criminal control he wouldn’t have to worry so much about firearms illegally trafficked into his
finecity…Although someone already pointed out no laws were actually broken here.
But there is this professional courtesy thing, ya know….
LOL. I saw that. It’s not like NYC doesn’t have enough trouble of their own. They have to go looking for it in other states? How does the NYC taxpayer feel about that? I know, Bloomberg could care less what the taxpayer thinks. It’s his money now.
Didn’t they outlaw fois gras also? No goose liver for you! Here, eat this recycled Birkenstock.
Bloomturd: I propose a ban on all Salt Waffles!
I see what you did there.
I hope his undercover (yuk yuk) people had a chance to try some of our local cuisine… Especially CHICKEN and WAFFLES, mmm, mmm, mmm!!! My question to NANNY BLOOMY is how hard would it be for me, a citizen of Arizona, to buy a GUN in NYC, where it is against the law to own a handgun… I bet pretty easy… BLOOMY fix the holes in your own fence, before you stick your nose over my fence!!!
To understand why Mayor Bloomberg does stupid stuff like using taxpayers money to send police officers to Arizona to discover what they already know, you have to understand the peculiar way Bloomberg has behaved as mayor. The day to day stuff that mayors are supposed to do like making sure the snow is plowed from streets, making sure that garbage is picked up, making sure that the city does not get taken to the woodshed in labor negotiations bores Bloomberg to tears. You could see it in the absolute indifference he showed to the recent blizzard. Bloomberg didn’t know where the outer boroughs were, let alone have any interest in making sure snow plows got there in time to do any good. It is far more fun for Bloomberg to wage war on Burger King and KFC and to send police officers to Arizona then to do the daily grinding dull work of being a real mayor.
hahahahahahahahahaha!
The NYC cops are probably having the time of their lives away from the socialist paradise of New Yawk.
Bloomberg should concentrate on his job 1st. like snow removal in the winter…never mind, I forgot those were unions workers responsible for the snow packed streets and at least two deaths.
You’d win that bet….in certain parts of town, you could have an illegal handgun in your hand within an hour of making it known you wanted one. That would be true in ANY of our wonderful communities that have banned the LEGAL ownership of guns.
Is the AZ Sherrif gonna send McCloud to NY again?
Sam McCloud was from Taos, NM. But we know what you meant.
Heh, Coogan’s Bluff.
New Yorker: “Did one of your citizens step out of line in our fair city?”
Coogan (Eastwood): “No, one of yours stepped outta line in ours.”
Liberals are the only American species that demands privacy laws and then regularly, ignores them.
For Mayor “let’s change the NY laws so I can stay El Heffe for life” Bloomberg to be sending ANY of his police to Arizona when NY city has thousands being murdered yearly is the same logic as Big Sis frisking blond blue eyed old ladies at the airport when virtually all bombers of the last 10 years have been muslims. Guns don’t march down the street and kill people, minorities march down the street with guns in their hands and shoot people. Get rid of the murdering minorities, and the guns will take care of themselves.
Let’s see…
Arizona passes a law that enables local law enforcement to “assist” federal law enforcement to do their job. Result: Department of Justice lawsuit.
NYC mayor sends undercover agents to Arizona to “assist” federal law enforcement to do their “job”. Result: …?”
If I go to a gun show in Arizona (or any where else for that matter), I don’t need to pass a background check to buy a gun. So if I tell a seller that I CAN’T pass a background check because I have a criminal record, spent time in an insane asylum and committed domestic violence against my ex wife, I can still buy a gun.
So what’s the complaint Bloomturd? A transaction was completed between two consenting adults (the liberal standard for homosexuality and other perversions) and yet you seem to think that you have some kind of jurisdiction in a state clear across the country from your city to control legal adult conduct. WTF 2012?
Guess he didn’t learn his lesson last time.
“Maria…..Maria…..I just met a girl named Maaaariiiiaaaaa…..”
“Yo, shut the @#%& up!!!”
Yes, lets sting NYC for the union intimidation, threats and assaults carried on daily.
Leftists never let these mere inconveniences dissuade them from continuing to pursue getting what they want. They go on more determined than before. THEY. DO. NOT. GIVE. UP.
That’s what’s known as a New York echo.
Funny thing about West Side Story…in the middle of Spanish Harlem, a guy calls out “Maria”…and only one girl responds.
I always enjoyed my trips to Da City, but have always been glad I didn’t have to live there.
Kinda like San Fransicko.
Has NYC Mayor Bloomberg justified his bizarre action by invoking the “Commerce Clause” yet?
Swear to God, this happened:
My
bosswife, born and raised in Hawaii so she’s quite naive, was at a neighbor’s party for their little girls birthday in Navy housing. The family was Puerto Rican, and there were about 30 PRs there. She was trying to open a box that had strapping tape holding it closed, and said loudly……..
(Pause for effect)
“Anybody got a knife?”
Gee Blommie, with NYC bankrupt and all, you have time to run a sting in AZ. That’s royal. How about doing your job! NYC has a lot more problems than a few guns appearing from another state. This demonstrats how libs/progressives haven’t a clue how to lead or solve problems. They want to put a bandaid on a gaping wound and then blame the public that the bandaid wasn’t big enough to hide the problem. They are all talk and no action. Talk won’t produce results any more than blame will.
Had Sheriff Joe known he would have gladly provided some first class accomodations for the undercover NYC detectives …
I am sure they would have loved the experience and would appreciate all the life long friends they would have made during their stay …
Errah, I wish he’d stay at home and shovel the snow, pick up the garbage and patch the potholes in the streets. Once done he can work on getting rid of the salt in the oceans.
LOOK!, there’s a radiant signal in the night’s sky over Gothom and Gomorrah and it’s a salt shaker! Quick! To the Salt Cave!
Here in Wyoming the question is “anyone have a multi tool?” And most of them would.
Back in the 80′s I used to have to take Logan’s Eastern Shuttle to Manhattan every few months. I hated it there. Everyone walked around totally pissed off, and the wimmen, were some of the hardest looking harpies ever laid eyes upon. They got nothing on Boston babes.
In a society with 220M guns a criminal will always be able to get their hands on a gun to kill someone. Bloomberg & Co. just want to make it harder and use the law to harass law abiding citizens. Guns are here to stay in America.
Now the libs want to expand the no gun buying law to if you have ever had an alcohol problem, DUI, or smoked pot you can never buy a gun.
Our skipper put “the Combat Zone” off-limits.
A couple of us went there anyway-
-saw the whole Wardroom, including the Captain.
Gov Brewer ought to send Bloomberg a letter thanking him for spending $100,000 in the state at a time when so many crackpots are calling for a boycott.
That’ll hoist the mizzenmast!
The “Zone” is long gone, not like it was back in the day.
Hmmm… as the “undercover” agents are our of their jurisdiction, they have to follow the laws just like any other citizen.
So… if they illegally bought a gun? Prosecute THEM…
But if I lived in New York City? I’d be pissed at the waste of my Tax dollar.
Errah, Did the NYPD make any personal purchases??!!
Hey, Mr. Bloomingidiot! Listen to Hank Williams Jr.!
Sounds like a case of misappropriation of public funds on the part of Bloomberg.
Maybe the undercover agents didnt go back to NY. Maybe they left their resumes there for possible employment. Now THAT would be funny!
I agree. Good point!
There are a great number of retired NYC officers, like myself, who have protested nitwit Bloombergs ILLEGAL use of undercover NYC officers in the past to make ILLEGAL “straw man” purchases of firearms in other states. It was our complaints that let courts to order Bloomberg to stop this nonsense forthwith. So now – if what I heard is true – he hired people who live in AZ to make these purchases for him – not using NYC officers. But it does not matter! Strawman purchases are illegal no matter what the state of residence! This is an outright violation of federal gun laws, and both the actors and the principal (Bloomberg_ should be immediately arrested.
Of course we know they won’t, because it’s likely the BATFE knew al about this beforehand and as part of the Obama administration cares not about laws they don’t like.
BOOK’EM DANO!
New York is having budget cut backs and layoffs and they have the money to do this??? Perhaps someone needs to get their priorities straight! Worry about your own house first, then you can preach!
Why didn’t somebody in Arizona arrest Bloomy’s stooges?
I wonder if Bloomberg or the undercover agents broke any Arizona laws? Sure be funny to see them, “frog marched into jail so they could be sexually assaulted,” – hey now that was what the Dem Lt. Governor of California said about un-convicted Enron officials back in the 90′s. Puts a new spin on what it means to be a public servant!
NYC and NY state always seem to get the government they deserve, don’t they?
So build a wall around New York and keep all New Yorkers inside. They will not be able to buy weapons outside of New York and we don’t have to be exposed to New Yorkers. Oh, you can’t have any of our tax revenue to subsidize your socialist agenda either.
Deal?
In Terrorism 101 you learn terrorists look for easy targets to commit their crimes. States with gun-ban laws look pretty easy. Good luck with that.
