Dems Announce Host City for ‘People’s Convention’

It’s been announced that Charlotte, North Carolina will be the host city for next year’s Democratic Convention.

Michelle Obama just personally informed me in an email — I feel so special:

Doug –

I am thrilled to make sure you are the first to hear some very exciting news. Charlotte, North Carolina, will host the 46th Democratic National Convention in 2012.

The First Lady also told me to stop eating so many french fries, but that’s neither here nor there.

The name the Dems are going with for the convention helps set the tone:

null

A little bit more about the “People’s Convention”:

The People’s Convention was a “people’s government” that was proposed by communist elements in the United Kingdom in 1940–1941. Its advocates attempted to persuade Labour Party and trade union members that the current government was solely for the rich and was dominated by those who through appeasement had “caused” the Second World War, who opposed the Soviet Union, and who were profiteering from the war. Its literature did not, however, explicitly state that it was communist-backed.

Oh wait, that was a different People’s Convention. More info on the North Carolina People’s Convention is here. Sorry for the mix up.

By the way, the MSM’s already starting to rap the DNC for choosing a right-to-work state:

Andrea Mitchell invited on DNC Chairman Tim Kaine, on Tuesday’s Andrea Mitchell Reports, to announce the Democrats have picked Charlotte, North Carolina to host their 2012 convention but the MSNBC host couldn’t resist hitting Kaine from the left as she scolded Democrats for selecting a right-to-work state. Mitchell, taking up for Big Labor, even challenged Kaine: “I defy you to find a labor hotel for these delegates, for all the AFL-CIO folks coming to Charlotte.”

    No hotels available in Detroit?

Are they going to use the goose stepping youth with their “O” salute this time?

Are the New Black Panthers going to provide security?

All these important details are yet to be determined I guess.

Right away I thought that “The People’s Convention” had a distinctive hammer-and-sickle quality. In her public announcement on picking Charlotte, Michelle O. praised the city’s barbecue, which was odd considering that she wants to personally dictate the national menu in the name of our health, and barbecue isn’t health food by her supposedly enlightened standards. So they should change the convention theme to “Barbecue for me, not for thee.” “Let them eat red slaw” could also work.

I still remember the 2004 convention “debacle”. John Edwards pompously derided the Republicans for choosing New York City to exploit 9/11. The truth is Mayor Bloomberg invited both parties to have their conventions in New York City as a symbol of solidarity, strength, renewal, patriotism, defiance, etc. The Republicans said yes immediately. The Democrats declined because the Republicans would be there.

Once again, all states are right-to-work states. If just one citizen has a right, then all citizens have the same right. That is a fact that cannot be denied. No gov’t can select which people get a right and which do not.

Yeah. What they really mean is “the right to a job.” But having a job is not a right, so the socialists can’t say that. They want to, though. Except that it sounds too, you know, Marxist. So they lie and say “right to work” to confuse as many people as possible into believing that some people have a right to work and others don’t.

Racisim, for one. A family member experienced the following.

During the hotel workers strike in SF a while ago, the pickters were making lots of noise early in the morning. A patron of the hotel stuck his head outside his windows and told them to be quiet — he’d had a late flight and wanted to sleep. One of the picketers replied, “Shut the f*** up, N****R!” The patron was a black man. Isn’t liberalism just so wonderful?!?!

Also, the prices in The People’s Socialist Quagmire of California are astronomical. The democrats are probably saving big bux. Kind of like how the AFL/CIO HQ in DC was built with non-union labor.

If you want a true explanation of why they are calling it “The People’s Convention”, it’s because they are trying to strengthen and build up an area that they acknowledge is weak for them right now…

The [SOTU] speech is also a product of the lack of political and organizational capacity of the labor and people’s movement – something that AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka spoke of a week before the president’s address. And until that changes, it is difficult to see how the nation’s politics will tack too far in a progressive direction. Transformative moments require transformative mass insurgencies.

Expect this convention to promote “transformative mass insurgencies” a la Egypt… which has been instigated by the “labor and people’s movement” there…

As Glenn Beck has shown repeatedly, this is the Communist Revolutionaries saying “Top down, bottom up, inside out”. They achieved “top down” with Obama and the 111th Congress, but they were legitimately shocked that their “bottom up” attempts (10/2 Rally) paled in comparison to the Tea Parties and Beck’s 8/28 Restoring America Rally.

I personally know conservative blacks in NC who voted for Obama because of his skin color. I quote them directly:

    It’s History, Man!

To vote for, or against, a candidate based on their skin color is, yes, RACIST.

They voted for the color of his skin, not the content of his character nor his political ideology.

And yes, black turnout (plus some help from an ACORN office in Durham, NC) helped put not only Obama but also Kay Hagan over the top in 2008. Hagan defeated Elizabeth Dole, who had replaced Jesse Helms in that seat upon his retirement.

So Obama helped a Democrat win the Senate seat once held by Helms.

But that turnout was not repeated in 2010, so Republican Richard Burr won re-election to his Senate seat fairly easily.

The Dems clearly hope to hold NC in 2012 for Obama, but I don’t think that is likely to happen. The Tea Party is very active in NC. Many conservatives who may have been lazy about voting in the past are now fully awakened and voting.

And the Governor does not have a veto power over what will be a Republican-led redistricting. Democrats Mel Watt and Brad Miller can say good-bye to their gerrymandered disticts (NC-12 and NC-13).
