CBS News reporter Lara Logan sexually assaulted, beaten in Cairo; Update: Unhinged NYU fellow attacks Logan as “war-monger”

I haven’t always had kind words for CBS News, but I’ve always admired reporter Lara Logan’s guts and willingness to report on the ground and on the battlefield around the world — even if I didn’t agree with her perspective.

CBS News reports this afternoon that Logan was sexually assaulted and brutally beaten on Friday amidst the celebrations in Cairo.

She was flown back to the U.S. and is in a New York hospital recovering. There is little detail about who the assailants are at this point.

But this much can be said:

Damn the animals who are responsible. Damn them.

Please keep this brave journalist and mother of two in your thoughts and prayers:

On Friday, Feb. 11, the day Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak stepped down, CBS chief foreign correspondent Lara Logan was covering the jubilation in Tahrir Square for a “60 Minutes” story when she and her team and their security were surrounded by a dangerous element amidst the celebration. It was a mob of more than 200 people whipped into frenzy.

In the crush of the mob, she was separated from her crew. She was surrounded and suffered a brutal and sustained sexual assault and beating before being saved by a group of women and an estimated 20 Egyptian soldiers.

Update: Here’s your New Tone Alert via Jim Geraghty — an NYU security and law “fellow” named Nir Rosen uses the occasion to attack Logan as a “war-monger.”

I’ve got zero compassion for scum like this. In fact, a dull, rusty cheese grater would be better.

This is stating the obvious, but the MSM seems to overlook the obvious…

This attack was not perpetrated by Tea Party Patriots.

Lara Logan was not assaulted by Tea Party Patriots.

No violence coming anywhere close to this attack has ever been perpetrated at a Tea Party Rally by a Tea Party Patriot.

A large percentage of Tea Party Patriots are Bible-believing Christians.

The Bible condemns the behavior practiced by those who assaulted Lara Logan.

The Koran, however, encourages such behavior.

Again, that is stating the obvious, but the MSM seems to overlook the obvious…

I pray not only for Lara’s physical, emotional, and spiritual healing, but also for her eyes to be opened to the belief system that motivated these attacks against her, and for her to speak the truth about that with boldness. I pray for the Holy Spirit to touch Lara Logan, heal her, and turn this around… to use this evil attack to accomplish something good for humanity.

As I’ve noted before, it bothers me not a lick when mainstream media reporters who keep telling us Muslims and Islam are peaceful get a taste of just how “peaceful” Muslims and Islam really are. In fact, it kinda warms my heart. Still, it’s also a great reminder of just how “civilized” these “people” (or, as I like to call them in Arabic, “Bahai’im” [Animals]) are:

I suspect that the spam treatment is more personal that political.

And why should I not point it out? And instead of complaining about me pointing it out, why don’t you condemn D.S.’s disgusting comment? What she said is at least as bad, if not worse, than the guy MM linked to.

Fine, the comment was vile and spiteful, with no social redeeming value whatsoever. Now, can you condemn the perpetrators and pray for Lara’s health and well being?

I certainly condemn the attack, but I cannot pray for Lara’s well being, being an atheist and all. Though I certainly hope she recovers quickly.
