Video: CWA union thug strikes young female FreedomWorks activist; Updated
This is Tabitha Hale, a young conservative activist/original Tea Party organizer/blogger who works for Washington, D.C.-based FreedomWorks. I know her from her great grass-roots work with Smart Girl Politics when the Tea Party movement was just emerging.
Today, Big Labor groups took their Grievance March to the offices of FreedomWorks.
Among the groups protesting: the Communications Workers of America. They’re one of the heavyweight labor biggies that have received a coveted Obamacare Waiver for Favors. CWA facts here.
This is one of the CWA t-shirt-wearing goons who showed up at the protest at FreedomWorks today:

Thankfully, Hale tells me she wasn’t hurt. But there is no doubt from this video that the CWA t-shirt-wearing goon should be prosecuted for assault.
They said it: “Get a little bloody.” It’s the union way.

I’m a 5′1 female in a dress, and he was standing up on a garden wall above me in the courtyard. He hardly felt threatened. I was stunned, because generally protesters are there to, you know, get their message out. They don’t normally shy away from the camera.
I’m very much okay, and very appreciative of the support from my fellow bloggers and activists today. I am, however, shaken up by the level of sheer hatred I experienced today. The look of fury on his face in the close up is appalling. I had not exchanged a word with him. He didn’t know who I was. He didn’t even know my name, what I do. He had probably surmised that I was with FreedomWorks and that was enough.
This just can’t be tolerated anymore. It’s one thing to be called a violent teabagger. It’s another to be called a violent teabagger while you’re being assaulted. They’ve been comparing themselves to the Egyptians ousting Mubarak. Looks like they’re not too far off, given that they share the tendency to assault women with cameras.
In addition, it’s disgusting to me that the first response I received from the Left was rationalization. “You were too close, respect personal space” and “well he obviously didn’t want to be filmed!” – essentially, it’s the “her skirt was too short” defense. No one deserves to be hit. The concern from a bystander was that “You’ll get on the news, stop it!” Unfortunately for him, he did not know who he was dealing with. I will ensure that this happens.
I was not asking for this. There was no confrontation between the thug and myself prior to this. He had not asked me to put the camera away. I was not as close as the video implies (it was cropped from a vertical iPhone video so it would fit on youtube). I was simply filming a protest, as I have done for the past two years. Amazingly enough, none of those crazy right wing extremists ever hit me.
At this point, I’m grateful we moved to a higher security building last month. For a bunch of violent racists, the Left sure seems to be comfortable threatening and attacking us.
We must really suck as bullies.

Notice that a liberal or union member can never have an intelligent discussion about issues. Facts never seem to matter – great example was when Megan Kelly asked the president of the Teachers Union whether he approved of doctors providing false sick notes – she asked him three times and would not answer her question but just jabbered the usual union talking points. Sounds like a classic case of self-defense to me, unless you being such a women’s right activist will argue that women are weaker than men?
“Reproductive decisions” happen with a sexual partner long before a doctor’s appointment or termination of an innocent life should the mother not be able to buy the kid a computer, car and X-box.

First off, if the woman becomes pregnant, hasn’t she already made her repoductive decision? What I mean by that is, if a condom is used or even in a worse case scenario, birth control pills are taken properly, the pregnancy is highly unlikely to take place. So the fact that these woman who decide to have an abortion get pregnant in the first place signifies that they planned to do so or at least were highly negligent with their sexual responsibility of not getting pregnant(same goes for the men involved in the act too).
Now, please don’t tell me that it is a ‘mistake’ when a girl gets pregnant because if the proper precautions are taken, the chance of pregnancy is extemrely low, unless of course the girl in question works as a prostitute and has 6 – 8 partners a day. But even then, the prostitutes that I have spoken to tell me that pregnancy among them isn’t as common as one might think. And as I suggested, they have sex with multiple partners a day and thousands throughout their short careers.
So, in summary, if a girl gets pregnant, in all liklihood it was either planned or a result of careless beahviour. Therefore, to afford them victim status is misleading.

A noble consideration, but with a few problems. Look at the rage in his eyes. I rather doubt he would suddenly see the error of his ways and calmly pray with you.
Another noble Christian premise is defending the defenseless. If I see an enraged man strike a woman half his size, it is not only appropriate but necessary to intervene with whatever means necessary – including risk to myself. “Turning the other cheek” applies to my cheek, not a defenseless person being attacked.
As other posters point out, the clip is brief and very close-up so perhaps doesn’t convey the whole story. But from what I saw I would certainly step in and seperate him from the young lady. How much force required would be up to him.

Apparently, there are those here who believe people should be allowed to be within inches of your personal space, as close to you without touching you. I was taught when I was a kid that you didn’t hit women, but then I wasn’t raised around union stooges and Marxist ideologues, so that might account for the difference.
It might be time that the tea partiers started visiting private residences of some Democrat politicians, for instance Wisconsin state senators. If someone has to ask if they are being filmed, they are not having a camera shoved in their face or their space invaded. Judging by the angle of the camera shooting and the size of the man being filmed, the young lady would have had to climb a step ladder in a pair of platform shoes to be in his face.
As a woman, it is wonderfully refreshing to read of men who are willing to put themselves in harms way if they see a woman being hit, shoved, pushed or physically threatened by a man.

Our side needs to stay peaceful, but we also need to be prepared to defend ourselves. It’s a very thin line. You’ll notice people like Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck travel with extensive security. That’s for a reason. They’ve been threatened. With union goons urged to “get a little bloody” on the streets, things like this will only increase. Be aware of your surroundings and protect yourselves on the front lines. Watch each other’s back.
No one really knows for sure why the guy(s) next to the woman didn’t stand up and punch the union thug back. It is possible that the action was so untoward that it stunned those that surrounded her for at least a few seconds; kind of like an unprovoked and sudden animal attack may cause a delay in responders taking action for a few seconds.
I can’t describe how appalling this behavior is that we’re seeing everyday. But, surely, you all know it, yourselves. It’s jaw-dropping. I really am stumped for words sometimes. And, we understand now that this is in their playbook. This is how people have been herded into quiet submission for decades in this country. I haven’t been that person for about three years now. We’ve been played against each other, baited into eating red herrings and treated like nincompoops. That’s just embarrassing.

I am embarrassed to admit having been a reluctant member of the CWA for 6 years.
Employees had to pay dues even if not a member so I became a union member for the first time in my life.
Can’t say I ever got anything out of the membership but a card, and the benefit of one successful contract negotiation.
Never would have had the time to participate in a protest, even if I’d wanted to, as most of my non-work hours were taken up with the bus commute.
