Marizela Perez: Still missing

By Michelle Malkin  •  March 10, 2011 12:51 AM

Dear readers,

Apologies for my absence. I’ll be getting back up to speed today, but it is hard to function with dread coursing through your veins.

Spread across the country, the family and friends of Marizela Perez — missing in Seattle since Saturday and last seen at the University District Safeway — are going through this:

You try to eat, but all you can taste is indigestible fear.

You try to breathe, but all that fills your lungs is stifling uncertainty.

You try to sleep, but all that comes is fathomless fatigue.

Your heart is weighted with grief, but your soul refuses to mourn.

On Monday, we walked UW’s University District — passing out flyers, checking campus-area hotels and motels, and visiting the Safeway where she was last spotted.

Still no sign of Em-em after she walked out of the store Saturday afternoon.

Deepest thanks to all of you who have helped spread the word about her disappearance.

Seattle-area readers: Please, please, please continue to keep an eye out, especially if you live/work/walk/jog/shop in or around the University District.

The most updated flyer information being passed out by the family:

    This Serenity Prayer is for you, Michelle:

    God grant me the serenity
    to accept the things I cannot change;
    courage to change the things I can;
    and wisdom to know the difference.

    Living one day at a time;
    Enjoying one moment at a time;
    Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
    Taking, as He did, this sinful world
    as it is, not as I would have it;
    Trusting that He will make all things right
    if I surrender to His Will;
    That I may be reasonably happy in this life
    and supremely happy with Him
    Forever in the next.
    Amen.

    My prayers go out to you and your family in this time of trial.

    What Rogue said – X10.

    So, summer 2004 I’m nodding off in a hotel, God knows where, listening to the O’Reilly Blather as I drift into lala land, and his guest is some Asian American (sorry M) lady. Wow, I says, this lady is on it. So I Googles MM, and here we are.

    Here’s a tiny first generation American from smalltown NJ, who has arrived at the cutting edge of the conservative movement at arguably one of the most critical junctures in history – and also happens to be the pioneer of a new breed of passionate, strong conservative women who are reshaping the playing field, much for the better.

    At the same time she’s pioneering and defining the conservative internet and blogosphere. She gets some off the wall, yet very provocative guy called Allahpundit (I used to hang out at Allah’s in the House also) and starts Hot Air. Even her husband thought it was nuts. Didn’t work out the way she envisioned it, so she adapted and developed, and HA is now in the top ten (not conservative blogs) all blogs. Exraordinary vision, business savy and guts.

    Along the way she is publically slapped with every vile, repugnant, sexist and racist epithet imaginable – and a few beyond imagination – threatened with rape, routinely has her life threatened – has to move at least once for the safety of her family – and comes through it all with extraordinary perseverence, dignity and grace.

    Sorry, didn’t mean to write a book, but Rogue got me thinking, and there is a reason you are loved and respected, Michelle – and why so many are deeply concerned for you and your family. You have made this place like family, and we’re all hurting.

    Stay strong and never give up hope. God bless you, Marizela, her parents, sibs and all your family. Lord bring this girl home.

    Taken from the Desiderata:

    Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

    Therefore, be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams; it is still a beautiful world.

    Michelle, whatever happens, God is in charge and He will uphold you and your family. I continue to pray for Marizela, many times a day. God bless you, my sister.

    We have a long way to go to achieve the same success rates in the mental health areas. My personal opinion is that about 10 percent of our population has severe thought and behavior problems.
    ***
    And in certain populations–like the 1964 U.S. Army I was part of then–jack the psycho rate up to 25 percent. And in prisons–90 percent?

    Totally agree. Just goes to show you that environment and how one responds to their environment, not some genetic predispositon (which is what psychiatrists and the medical profession try to argue) is the reason why people either suffer mental health issues or not.

    I was put on stelazine and cogentin in 1995 and was told I had schizophrenia. I was told that I had to take ‘medicine’ for the rest of my life or ‘you won’t ever get better’. After three months of the ‘medicine’, I couldn’t remember my own telephone number, my postal code, my highschool girlfriends’ nationality etc.

    My psychiatrist responded to my concerns by telling me that my depression was affecting my memory, not the drugs. When I had any positive experiences from the medicine, he attributed such effects to the drugs. So, in other words, any good outcomes are a result of the drugs, any bad outcomes are a result of my ‘illness’.

    Psychiatric drugs are the biggest scam in the medical profession.

    Even the NYTimes cites the money-making scheme of writing prescriptions instead of helping people with talk therapy as was done in the past.

    I tuned in more and noticed that this gal Michelle was spot on and full of piss and vinegar.

    It took me a while to get an open enrollment period on her blog. I’ve been hooked ever since.

    Marizela is also pretty much a dead ring for my wife.

    This place here is grand community of friends for me, even when I’m not posting. Except for the occasional nutbag, its a great refuge from the “state run” crap.

    Continued prayers for the family. Continued prayers for Marizela safe return.

    Can’t tell you how many times I got that back. Just so you know, I don’t consider myself “religious”. Jesus had no time for the Scribes and Pharasees (Hypocrites!). They were the religious people then. The “church people”.

    It’s not about churches, preachers, money, guilt trips, hypocritical Christians (which we all are, if we’re honest), or religion. It’s about me and God, mono a mono. Think of it that way and your connection should improve dramatically. Mine did.

    I did not mean to imply you do not pray at all. By saying, “give it a try”, I merely meant, try again. God won’t give up on you if you don’t give up on Him. Sorry if you thought I was judging you. That was certainly not my intention!

Ya know. Good to have goals ;-)

    Just realized in all the acolades for MM @ #114, I left out the most important part. She sees her greatest responsibility and achievement as being a good wife and mother. Turned down the big time at FNC to be with her kids. That’s one h*ll of a lady. God bless her now.
