Marizela Perez: Still missing

Dear readers,
Apologies for my absence. I’ll be getting back up to speed today, but it is hard to function with dread coursing through your veins.
Spread across the country, the family and friends of Marizela Perez — missing in Seattle since Saturday and last seen at the University District Safeway — are going through this:
You try to eat, but all you can taste is indigestible fear.
You try to breathe, but all that fills your lungs is stifling uncertainty.
You try to sleep, but all that comes is fathomless fatigue.
Your heart is weighted with grief, but your soul refuses to mourn.
On Monday, we walked UW’s University District — passing out flyers, checking campus-area hotels and motels, and visiting the Safeway where she was last spotted.
Still no sign of Em-em after she walked out of the store Saturday afternoon.
Deepest thanks to all of you who have helped spread the word about her disappearance.
Seattle-area readers: Please, please, please continue to keep an eye out, especially if you live/work/walk/jog/shop in or around the University District.

I no longer live in that area, but I still know people that do live there. I’m reposting your updates as soon as you post them. I still have you and your family in my prayers.
This Serenity Prayer is for you, Michelle:
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.
My prayers go out to you and your family in this time of trial.
I am so sorry Michelle, my heart aches for you and your family.
I hope she is found safe and sound soon.
No apologies necessary, Michelle!
Take as much time as you need.
Your family needs you more than your readers do.
We are continuing to pray for Marizela, you, and your entire family.
Prayers for your family, Michelle, that Marizela is found safe and unharmed.
I commented before reading the comments from page one. When I saw them, I see that many, many others feel exactly the same way I do.
You do not owe us any apology, Michelle.
She is so beautiful. Spitting image of Michelle.
Storming heaven.
My prayers go out to you and your family, Michelle, for the safe return of your beautiful Em-em.
Others have said this, but I will say also that you do not owe anyone here an apology. Be with your family and take all the time you need.
Hey kent, I hope you got out before it really got bad there…

Those are some pretty pathetic Glory Days!
What Rogue said – X10.
So, summer 2004 I’m nodding off in a hotel, God knows where, listening to the O’Reilly Blather as I drift into lala land, and his guest is some Asian American (sorry M) lady. Wow, I says, this lady is on it. So I Googles MM, and here we are.
Here’s a tiny first generation American from smalltown NJ, who has arrived at the cutting edge of the conservative movement at arguably one of the most critical junctures in history – and also happens to be the pioneer of a new breed of passionate, strong conservative women who are reshaping the playing field, much for the better.
At the same time she’s pioneering and defining the conservative internet and blogosphere. She gets some off the wall, yet very provocative guy called Allahpundit (I used to hang out at Allah’s in the House also) and starts Hot Air. Even her husband thought it was nuts. Didn’t work out the way she envisioned it, so she adapted and developed, and HA is now in the top ten (not conservative blogs) all blogs. Exraordinary vision, business savy and guts.
Along the way she is publically slapped with every vile, repugnant, sexist and racist epithet imaginable – and a few beyond imagination – threatened with rape, routinely has her life threatened – has to move at least once for the safety of her family – and comes through it all with extraordinary perseverence, dignity and grace.
Sorry, didn’t mean to write a book, but Rogue got me thinking, and there is a reason you are loved and respected, Michelle – and why so many are deeply concerned for you and your family. You have made this place like family, and we’re all hurting.
Stay strong and never give up hope. God bless you, Marizela, her parents, sibs and all your family. Lord bring this girl home.
Amen to what you said, Swede.
Thanks Swede,
It’s nice to remember why we come here and why we care so much.
Our thoughts and prayers are endless.
Still praying for your cousin, that she is found safe and soon.
I’ll add my amen to Granite’s. I too discovered MM on BOR, had the same thought as you and 4 years later I am much better educated and informed, thanks to MM.
My heart goes out to all your family, as this is the worst nightmare of all of us.
Sending prayers for Marizela’s safe return.
Prayers are being sent up, like the sweet smell of incense, to God. He will watch over your precious family member, Michelle.
Very well said, swede.
And, assuming that @swede_world is you,
I see that Michelle thought enough of your tweet to retweet it:
Michelle-
My prayers go out for the safe return of Marizela. I have forwarded this posting to those I know in the Seattle area in the hope we can find her safe!
*No need to apologize whatsoever; Your priorities are spot on; I continue to pray for a positive outcome, Lord willing!
Taken from the Desiderata:
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore, be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams; it is still a beautiful world.
Michelle, whatever happens, God is in charge and He will uphold you and your family. I continue to pray for Marizela, many times a day. God bless you, my sister.
I have been reading these posts with genuine concern, not knowing what to say. I am sorry that I don’t live closer so I could physically help in some way, searching or something. Swede said it good, I can’t do better. I truly hope that Marizela Perez will reappear and this will have a happy ending.
At 3000 miles away, there’s little I can do but send my thoughts of concern.
I don’t pray much, so I’m afraid my prayers won’t get that much attention.
If I were within that area, you can bet I would be applying all my personal resources to the search.
I keep checking back for recent news, and hoping to see there has been some contact with her.
I feel it is soon to come.
God bless.
Cyber – I suspect that you would get considerable attention. Why not give it a try, my friend?
We are all here for you, Michelle.
You have done so much for us, I hope we are a comfort to you now.
Still praying for everyone.
Guess my cover is blown.
Our Lady of Perpetual Conservatism is back in fighting form today.
That’s our girl. I have a good feeling about this.
Dear God – BRING HER HOME!
Michelle; how can we accept your apologies when you have done nothing wrong? Your mission is clear. Don’t quit. We’ll be with you, every step, each in our own way.
I believe you’re wrong on that, geezer. Try it. God listens to all of us.
Totally agree. Just goes to show you that environment and how one responds to their environment, not some genetic predispositon (which is what psychiatrists and the medical profession try to argue) is the reason why people either suffer mental health issues or not.
I was put on stelazine and cogentin in 1995 and was told I had schizophrenia. I was told that I had to take ‘medicine’ for the rest of my life or ‘you won’t ever get better’. After three months of the ‘medicine’, I couldn’t remember my own telephone number, my postal code, my highschool girlfriends’ nationality etc.
My psychiatrist responded to my concerns by telling me that my depression was affecting my memory, not the drugs. When I had any positive experiences from the medicine, he attributed such effects to the drugs. So, in other words, any good outcomes are a result of the drugs, any bad outcomes are a result of my ‘illness’.
Psychiatric drugs are the biggest scam in the medical profession.
Even the NYTimes cites the money-making scheme of writing prescriptions instead of helping people with talk therapy as was done in the past.

swede,
That was a great post. Mine was a little different… around 2004. I was kinda paying attention to FOX, I was hanging sheetrock in my new (for me)/old fixer upper at the time. I noticed a woman that looks like my fiancee, now my wife.
I tuned in more and noticed that this gal Michelle was spot on and full of piss and vinegar.
It took me a while to get an open enrollment period on her blog. I’ve been hooked ever since.
Marizela is also pretty much a dead ring for my wife.
This place here is grand community of friends for me, even when I’m not posting. Except for the occasional nutbag, its a great refuge from the “state run” crap.
Continued prayers for the family. Continued prayers for Marizela safe return.

If you read my entry, I did not say “I do not pray at all”. But, I’ll give you interpretative liberty.
Too many of my prayers come back with the message, “cannot connect to server.”
I guess I’ve just got a religious ‘virus’.
You and your family have my continued prayers, Michelle.
Godspeed
Can’t tell you how many times I got that back. Just so you know, I don’t consider myself “religious”. Jesus had no time for the Scribes and Pharasees (Hypocrites!). They were the religious people then. The “church people”.
It’s not about churches, preachers, money, guilt trips, hypocritical Christians (which we all are, if we’re honest), or religion. It’s about me and God, mono a mono. Think of it that way and your connection should improve dramatically. Mine did.
Great post Swede.
I did not mean to imply you do not pray at all. By saying, “give it a try”, I merely meant, try again. God won’t give up on you if you don’t give up on Him. Sorry if you thought I was judging you. That was certainly not my intention!
No need to apologize. That is the last thing you need to worry about. Our hearts and prayers go out to the safe return of Marizela.
Be with your family M. Don’t worry about us here.
We will hold down the fort for you.
You’re always in my prayers & so is this young woman.
Still praying.
So, despite the fact that you apparently never tweet and have no followers do you mind if we follow you on twitter?
Hi Michelle,
I’ll remember you and your family in my prayers tomorrow, and when I celebrate Mass.
Be with your family who need you now more than ever; and let us who are at a distance at least handle the praying for Marizela.
May her Holy Guardian Angel embrace Marizela, and the Blessed Virgin Mary of Antipolo, Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage guide and protect her steps back home to her family.
Michelle,
I hope she’s found safe/sound, soon.
It’s amazing how much she looks like you.
Tell ya what, Cybergeezer, I’ll pray that your connection will be good, and others are welcome to join me.
Guess you’d be the first, Plymouth. I’d be honored. Truth is I signed up yesterday just to try to encourage MM. Pretty shocked she retweeted my one and only tweet. So now I’m in I’ll play with it. Guess I haven’t grasped the spirit. “What are you doing now?” So, do you tweet “scratching my armpit?” My goal now is to have more followers than Meghan McClueless, who is, like, all mega popular n’stuff. Ya know. Good to have goals
Just realized in all the acolades for MM @ #114, I left out the most important part. She sees her greatest responsibility and achievement as being a good wife and mother. Turned down the big time at FNC to be with her kids. That’s one h*ll of a lady. God bless her now.
Long stinkin day near the end of a long stinkin week. High and holy prayers down to 3 words… Bring her home!
Nite all.
