State Department Spokesman P.J. Crowley Resigns Over Manning Comments

By Doug Powers  •  March 13, 2011 04:44 PM

**Written by Doug Powers

Crowley probably should have taken a powder after he tweeted birthday greetings to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and more recently, via a Twitter post that was later deleted, compared the middle east situation to the Japan tsunami.

Instead Hillary’s spokesman has been forced out due to comments about the detention of Bradley Manning:

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton’s spokesman P.J. Crowley resigned Sunday, just days after publicly criticizing the detention conditions of Bradley Manning, the Army private accused of leaking reams of classified information to WikiLeaks. Crowley’s departure was first reported by CNN.

During an event on Thursday in Cambridge, Mass., Crowley called the treatment of Manning, whom military jailers forced to sleep naked for several days last week, “ridiculous and counterproductive and stupid.”

Asked about Crowley’s remarks at a news conference Friday, President Obama said he “asked the Pentagon whether or not the procedures that have been taken in terms of his confinement are appropriate and are meeting our basic standards. They assured me that they are.”

Somewhere in Berkeley an emergency City Council meeting has been called to decide which day(s) will be used for a holiday and parade to honor Crowley as a co-hero.

According to Manning’s lawyer, his client’s strip down is the result of “sarcastic” comments made about suicide. This attorney needs to remind his client — not to mention one former State Department spokesman — that airports and prisons are non-sarcasm zones of the highest order.

Yeah, ya think? Aiding and abetting the enemy in wartime and putting inteligence people and soldiers lives at risk. If that isn’t high treason, what is?

Interesting this hit the fan at the same time DADT went down the PC hole. Correct me if I’m wrong – wartime is not a good time for a social experiment in the armed forces. Manning was distraught over a break up with his significant other. Lots of soldiers get Dear John letters, and don’t commit high treason. Did Manning’s homosexuality affect his decision making? Don’t know is not a good enough answer. And like Mjr Dr Hassan, will people ignore dangerous behavior to not cross the islamophobe/homophobe barrier?

    Don’t know.

I don’t have any attraction to men and prefer the beauty and physical attributes of any woman 100% of the time. The ONLY REASON I have any such interest as I indicated in another thread is because I get SO TIRED of the crap that women often direct toward me that I sometimes think a TS would be my next best option. All these “intelligencia”, who are reportedly so much smarter than Republicans, make gaff after gaff, or when asked questions pertaining to their area of “expertise”, they make stupid comments, or reveal in other ways, the total depth of their incompetence.

I am nice to everyone and could not believe the whole “you are not welcome here treatment I got”. From what I have witnessed from the behavior of the California gay, I bet that is how Manning was behaving. He deserved to have anything that may be used as a suicide instrument taken away. Let’s see how snide the snot nosed brat will be from now on. He deserves a treason charge with a firing squad.

The fact that Obama “asked” the pentagon shows how inexperienced he is. He has no knowledge of his most important job, CINC. He should have said, my pentagon follows guidelines by the book, so I am confident that Manning is being held under strict protocol. Don’t forget Chris Christie who may be (relatively) fiscally conservative, but is an R.I.N.O.!!!!!

    (Sorry, submitted too soon.)

Chris Christie is a hoplophobic gun grabber, an amnesty freak, and a RINO in general.

He may pass for a conservative in New Jersey, but is a hard left regressive anywhere with common sense.

In all fairness, tried then shot and be done with it. What’s taking so long?

McVeigh was caught, tried and shot in the time it’s taken this little squirrel to be forced to sleep nude so he doesn’t do the right thing. Makes me wonder just what went on with the OKC bombing, before and after, just curious.

Who was president back then? That’s right the Baby driller.

Manning sleeps in a suicide prevention smock and prosecutors will not seek the death penalty:

Manning is being held in solitary confinement for all but an hour every day, and is stripped naked each night and given a suicide-proof smock to wear to bed. …Although aiding the enemy is a capital offense under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, Army prosecutors have notified the Manning defense team that it will not recommend the death penalty to the two-star general who is in charge of proceeding with legal action.

She DID make a lot of money in a mysterious fashion through investing back when they lived in Arkansas. She is the smartest woman in the world, you know. /sarc

There is proof they hooked up at least once because Chelsea looks a lot like them. After that, I am not sure. I think they live in separate places even. They only get together for political theatre.

I started to post that Hillary only stayed with Bill and put up with his philandering because of her own political aspirations and how he helped her. I don’t believe that she has given up her desire to be POTUS.

Webb Hubbell? I’m going to think about it.

If they don’t recommend the death penalty, does that mean he can’t mete out the death penalty?

What do you have to do to get executed for treason in this country? Attend a Tea Party rally while singing the Star Spangled banner, wearing an “Obama’s not my President” button on your T-shirt which reads, “Capitalism is superior to socialism“, before reciting passages from Orwell’s “1984″?

Apparently giving aid and comfort to the enemies of the U.S. ain’t enough…

Make sure that Manning eats plenty of Peanut Butter Snickers first

Seriously, Manning and Nidal are getting better treatment than most of our military.

    Bizarro World.
