Former congresswoman and the first female VP candidate, Geraldine Ferraro, has passed away:
Geraldine Ferraro, the first woman nominated for U.S. vice president by a major political party, died today at age 75 after a long battle with blood cancer.
Ferraro ran with Democratic nominee Walter Mondale in the 1984 election; they lost to President Ronald Reagan and running mate George H.W. Bush.
I saw Ferraro on Fox News not long ago (appearing with Sarah Palin) and was unaware of the extent of her condition.
Condolences to the Ferraro family.
Update: Predictably, the WBC freaks have already announced plans to picket Ferraro’s public memorial.
Update II: Didn’t take some on the left long to use Ferraro’s death to bash Palin.
