Perfect: Obama Accepts Transparency Award in Closed Press Ceremony
**Written by Doug Powers
If anything, the Obama administration has a consistent knack for making me feel like I’m at a meeting of the Endangered Elephant Awareness Club while being served pachyderm-popper appetizers on an ivory plate.
From Politico:
President Obama finally and quietly accepted his “transparency” award from the open government community this week — in a closed, undisclosed meeting at the White House on Monday.
The secret presentation happened almost two weeks after the White House inexplicably postponed the ceremony, which was expected to be open to the press pool.
This time, Obama met quietly in the Oval Office with Gary Bass of OMB Watch, Tom Blanton of the National Security Archive, Danielle Brian of the Project on Government Oversight, Lucy Dalglish of the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, and Patrice McDermott of OpenTheGovernment.org, without disclosing the meeting on his public schedule or letting photographers or print reporters into the room.
The AP would have been invited to the transparency award ceremony, but they recently reported about how the administration lacks transparency, and as such maybe they’re unworthy of such openness.
Hopefully the president shares the award with his VP, who is also no stranger to this kind of transparency.

The reach around circle jerk continues…
Who wants to waste another evening in a closet?
Did anyone bring up the fact that Obama today pledged to reduce oil imports by 1/3 in ten years beginning with the day of his inauguration?
Should be a cinch. He’s already more than a third of the way there. Oil imports are down from over 11 million barrels per day to under 10 million since he became president. Just think how much lower it will be now that he is actually focusing like a laser beam on bringing it down!
That’s TWO secrets leaked today. Secret award for transparency and secretly approved a covert plan to arm the Libyan rebels. How much transparency do you want?
Woo Hooo, Barry!! You are da man! Congrats, Dude! You deserve to be recognized for the great strides you’ve made in transpa……….wait, what?
nebbermind.
Many invertebrates are not transparent. Why is Obama so lucky?
And I’m confident that he “won’t rest” until that goal is met. Unless his next vacation comes up first, or he still isn’t done for his weekend golf game, and I can’t forget the Friday evening basketball, and a man has to have an afternoon nap before bed…
The “Transparency” awards were presented by Stevie Wonder and Gov. David Patterson. They were the only ones who could “see” how Barry was fulfilling his campaign promises.
When I read the paragraph above, I mentally picture Gary Owens, with right hand cupped over his ear, reading it into a boom mike.
“And now, from Beautiful Downtown Burbank, it’s time for Rowan and Martin’s Laugh In, starring Dan Rowan……Dick Martin…….Arte Johnson…..Goldie Hawn……Ruth Buzzi….etc.
So this is what they mean…
to see through the glass, stupidly
Ah, the irony. First The Peace Prize, now this.
OpenTheGovernment.org?? Sounds like another Soros organization to me. Hold on…let me check it out… Looks like I could be right!! From the website, here’s a list and at least one of them rings a bell:
Steering Committee Members
* Steven Aftergood, Federation of American Scientists
* Bill Allison, Sunlight Foundation
* Gary D. Bass, OMB Watch
* Tom Blanton, National Security Archive
* Danielle Brian, Project on Government Oversight*
* Kenneth Bunting, National Freedom of Information Coalition
* Lucy Dalglish, Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press
* Robert Leger, Society of Professional Journalists
* Conrad Martin, Fund for Constitutional Government**
* Michael D. Ostrolenk, Liberty Coalition
* Reece Rushing, Center for American Progress
* David Sobel, Electronic Frontier Foundation
* Anne Weismann, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington
I don’t understand why I wasn’t invited. I, for one, have seen right through him since Day One. He most certainly is completely transparent. And doesn’t he begin every lie with: “Let me be clear…”?
Let me be clear… this is the best smoke blown up a hole since Bubba and Monica
Didn’t Mao and Stalin and Hitler and Castro and Kim and all their ilk get all kinds of freedom awards, too?
Yeah. Thought so. The plight of a dictator is a difficult one.
I’m so rone-er-y, so rone-er-y…
Another interesting tidbit. Here’s a quote from David Sobel of Electronic Frontier Foundation from my above list. He said this on March 17, 2011:
With the Obama administration failing to honour its commitment to openness, leaks are one of the few means of holding government to account, says David L Sobel.
That’s standing on principles, Mr. Sobel. Why the change of heart?
Of course Mr. Obama’s administration is transparent! They’re just as transparent as a US Army Trench coat, or as transparent as a US Navy Pea coat!
This was heard from the OpenTheGovernment.org steering committee meeting just before they voted on this honor:
“We lost I.N.T.E.L.L.I.G.E.N.C.E! I repeat, we have no I.N.T.E.L.L.I.G.E.N.C.E.”
Too bad the chump leftists giving this award didn’t think to give it to the ATF whistleblowers in Project Gunrunner.
Leftists. Pathetic as usual.
OT, but a question.
If the EPA is stating they are detecting radiation in milk in Washington state as mentioned in this WSJ article, and using their usual words of detecting “tiny” or “minuscule” amounts that are less than people are exposed to every day, why not report those other higher amounts that people are exposed to every day? and the sources of those exposures?
Just wondering.
I shouldn’t be so hard-hearted. After all, the Leftists did go to the trouble of co-opting just about everyone.
So, what’s next? They’ve still got a ways to go before turning the rest of us into Stepford people. I suppose the really hard-headed ones will be candidates for “voluntary” re-education (snicker/snort!).
Reminds me of that Underdog episode where the Marbleheads from Planet Granite turn everyone bug-eyed and they say: “I hear and I obey”.
At the top of the list for the Steering Committee of this Award is Steven Aftergood of the Federation of American Scientists, “a nonpartisan, 501(c)(3) organization.”
From “Poligraft, a Project of the Sunlight Foundation,” (of which Bill Allison is a representative and who is also on the steering committee):
—
TOP RECIPIENTS CONTRIBUTIONS, 1997 – 2010 (includes contributions from the organization’s employees, their family members, and its political action committee):
Barack Obama (D) $5,300
John Kerry (D-MA) $4,000
Hillary Clinton (D-NY) $1,350
Paul Wellstone (D-MN) $700
Krystal Ball (D-VA) $500
Al Gore (D) $250
Total Given (all Democrats, no Republicans) $12,600
—
This is a NON-PARTISAN Organization? Oh, I see, only all the key employees are partisan, not the organization.

What the hells the difference at this point?
I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,

I think I can make it now, the pain is gone

The “open government community”… What would that be exactly? The Joseph Stalin Propaganda Project? You really cannot make this crap up. This president (and his cadre) is the most secretive, clandestine and corrupt we have ever had. No one comes close. He has violated his Constitutional oath of office numerous times and should be arrested immediately. There is a pattern to his behavior. Chutzpah is not a defense, his admirers love of it notwithstanding.
Yes, I can see right through him also.
There’s a communist in the Whitehouse.
LOL. Really. Be sure to include Sexiest Man Alive and the Order of Lenin.
Does he get another Peace Prize for being transparent?
That is one of the things that bothers me most about our current state of things under leftist rule – we have no more valid laws (at least where leftist pols are concerned). No one enforces them. When we do get someone to stand up and say “this is what the law says” it’s either outright ignored or violently protested. The democrats are completely lawless.
Here’s a good chart that someone on one of these blogs linked and I bookmarked. (I’m not trying to steal anyone’s thunder so please forgive me that I can’t remember who I got this from.) It’s really worth taking the time to study to see just how much radiation we’re exposed to every day and where that radiation comes from. Kinda takes the “scary” out of it.
All blossoms on this earth

“Barack Obama… transparency award mmmmmm… verrry eenteresting, but schtoopid.”
Speaking of Obama and trasparency and such. If you recall on March 18th Obama said that he would not send ground forces inot Libya. Here it is March 31st and we find out that Obama has authorized the use of covert operations in Libya.
All the actions of Barack Obama display a concerted and clear pattern of undermining or directly attacking the economic sovereignty of the United States.
This is criminal malfeasance of an unprecedented order and in direct violation of his oath of office. Every day brings a new insult and a new crime. A case must be built against this man and the most aggregious members of Congress immediately – this is intolerable.
That’s like giving Hugo Chavez the Press Freedom Award. Soooooo deserving. Obummer is so, uh, yeah, very transparent.
i am guessing they didn’t want to use the closets at the oval office for reporters. i think there are way too many skeletons there.
I just saw that. And so it begins. How would you like to be a Spec Ops warrior being asked to lay his life on the line for a boy doing his best Bill Clinton wag-the-dog imitation? This is a classic FUBAR operation in the making.
FUBAR or SNAFU?
Yeah I could just see that briefing.
SF Commander: “Men, we have just received our orders for Libya. I am honestly going to say I really have no idea what we can and cannot do there.”
Somehow I could very well see this SNAFU ending with those soldiers FUBARd.

Especially when, acording to all the data, the freaking rebels are Al-Qaeda infiltrated as well. Yep, the same Al-Qaeda that wacked us on 9/11. Now we are helping them in Libya and operating against them in Iraq and Afganistan!!
This is just not FUBAR, this is a Bad Dream.
LOL. Very well put. It’s not funny in a real sense, it is horrifying. This is a true Catch 22 situation. Carried by six or judged by 12? Unbelieveable.
This is why it is unwise to allow idiots, grifters and scofflaws to vote. It opens a Pandora’s Box of problems.
Also, how would you like to be a Spec Ops warrior being asked to lay his life on the line to help out al-Qaeda?
Also why it’s important to check someone’s eligibility before electing them president.
Or as John Adams once said:
You got that right.
Next week he’ll get the Cloward-Piven Destruction of the Economy award.
Murphy’s Law of Combat #301
“Never have a Democrat on your flank.”
No. That’s one he would actually deserve.
The irony of the award is hilarious. I do believe the US Press Corpses are waking up from their slumber to realize this administration is not the hope and change they envisioned.
What is so funny is that neither Obama nor Biden, nor their handlers, appear to realized how stupid they appear to the American public who can read. Nor do they care, apparently.
This is not in our ‘National Interest’. How can we stop this total
disreguard foruhmstupidityuhm – God Help Us.Our military are too well trained – maybe they should be like those Libyan pilots told to target their own – - just say “No”.
It’s almost as worse than Hugo Chavez accepting a similar award in Argentina over the weekend. However, the media in America loves Obama because of ideology, not because of oppression.
A transparency award given secretly. What next?

This president is the biggest bratty egoist stooge ever to occupy the White House. I thought Carter was the biggest mistake ever elected until this corruptocrat came along. Now we have a new LOW STANDARD in the presidency, kneecaps and elbows below his peers. I am hoping we can still recover if we can hold him to one term of destruction, but at the rate he is going I’m beginning to wonder.

The day this Skid mark started to run for President, a black hole of a vacuum from his past education or friends, that pencil neck of his bobbing up and down like a freakin crane spewing that Hope and Change dogma i really thought it was a joke till I started to see the slack jawed, vacant/hysterical looks on the faces of his minions and then I knew we were cursed.

And this is what happens when we as a nation stray from a moral-based compass by electing a Usurper.
I laughed last night when I heard the BREAKING NEWS that the president had signed an order authorizing SECRET COVERT OPERATIONS in Libya. I guess they mean the SECRET COVERT ones that have been going on there for weeks? I could hear the laughter from the SPECOPS guys all the way from Libya in my living room.
Don’t forget the Fainting!
I wouldn’t say that’s necessarily cause for alarm, but we should at least continue to monitor the situation. Thanks Rv.
With the complaints already! There’s no pleasing this guy I tell ya’! Lol.
There was a man that tried to warn us about this sort of thing decades ago. I believe his name was Orwell.

I heard that the SPECOPS were supporting those who are seeking to overthrow Qdaffy. And that these rebels were losing to Qdaffy’s forces. They had pics of the cars and trucks skidding to a stop and turning around and heading back. Cartoonish at best.

Reminds me of an infamous quote from AT&T a long while back:
“Yes, we know we have a communications problem with our employees, but we are not going to talk about it.” Supposedly true quote.
It has been an Orwellian world since Usurpation Day.
The thing is …
It.is.No.Longer a SECRET COVERT operation!!
He’ll put it on the shelf right next to the Flying Fickle Finger of Fate award back in his house at the Potemkin Village.
President Obama finally and quietly accepted his “transparency” award from the ‘one world’ government community this week — in a closed, undisclosed meeting at the White House on Monday.
Another Look at Obama’s
Social Security Number..
http://www.cashill.com/intellect_fraud/another_look_at_obamas.htm
That crossed my mind very quickly.
But, I thought of posting that way too late!
Aarrgghh!!
Kudos to you!!
What is even funnier is wouldn’t the fact that the operation is covert mean that it is secret in the first place….
It’s double-secret, see?
Each day, this administration reminds me more and more of “Alice In Wonderland.”
I am not sure if Obama is Alice or the Queen. But the GOP-lead congress certainly fits nicely.
Obama accepts a transparency award in an closed meeting while he leaks that he has operatives in Libya after loudly proclaiming that no US forces would be inserted into Libya.
Meanwhile, the idiot GOP “leadership” dickers with the moronic and duplicitous DNC “leadership” about cutting $30 billion or $60 billion when they need to cut $1,600 BILLION in spending.
This is either a bad parody of “Through the Looking Glass” or “Brazil” with heavy overtones of “1984.”
The problem is that the future of our children, grandchildren and the entire nation is at stake. Not so funny in that perspective…
Every day I wake up & hear something else this idiot in chief has done & I think, this has to be it – it can’t get any stupider or more evil. And then the next day I get up and hear something new and worse. Honestly, who does he think he’s kidding??
I say almost the exact same thing to my wife daily. It’s truly frightening.
I would say the queen for two reasons…first of all he always wants things your-his way. Secondly, after seeing the picture of him on the girls bike wearing mom jeans could he be thought of as anything other than a queen.
I don’t believe he thinks he’s kidding anyone. What he’s doing is all on purpose and according to plan even if it appears stupidly done. And who’s stopping him? He’s also been very transparent in his intent if not the specific actions.
The worst is yet to come from the actions of Dear Leader and his minnions.
I got nothing. I’m speachless.
Do you think the award was BHO’s own idea?
Correct.
If anyone is kidded, that’s a bonus for the America-destroyers – it just makes their job that much easier.
FIFY.
Obowmao: Thanks, this is nice and all , but I was really hoping for Time’s “Man Of The Century”.
Bambi has officially launched more cruise missiles than any other Nobel Peace prize recipient in history. And now he’s the most transparent open President ever. Next thing you know, he will get an award for being the most effective ineffective leader of all time.
That’ll be January 2012 at the ceremony installing Dear Leader as President for Life. No need to wait until the end of the century or even have any more elections while TEH WON lives. We all know there will never be anyone more worthy, wise and awesome who could ever be president, so let’s just present the award and keep him in office.
Rememeber all of the overstuffed guys in bad suits, top coats, and funny hats standing top of the Kremlin adorned with more gaudy medals than Audie Murphy.
The cirteria for awarding them those medals is the same as this award.
Obama: Hero of the New Soviet Union
Will there be anymore built as replacements or is Dear Leader exhausting our supply so we won’t have any available for, you know, a real war. Makes is easier for him to capitulate when the time comes.
Me three.
The first “Affirmative Action President” has now lowered the bar so low that most stock clerks at Wal-mart are now considered OVERQUALIFIED for the position.
This guy makes Wile E. Coyote look like a genius…
Compared to TEH WON, Wile E. Coyote IS a genius.
I have decided to award myself the following prizes/medals:
- The Most Handsome Man award, presented by the Committee for Handsomeness;
- The Smartest Person At My Desk Medal, as decided by a secret ballot of everyone in my immediate vicinity;
- The Medal for Best Budget Reduction, due to my having contemplating spending less for a few minutes the other day;
- The Award for First Place in the Race to Eat My Burger the Fastest, presented by the Burger King drive-thru attendant;
- The Tallest Person In The Room Award, as voted by the assembled casts of Little People, Big World and The Little Couple.
Thank you all for the accolades. I certainly have earned them. Donations and honorariums are accepted in forms of cash, check or paypal.
Wen Jaibo, the Premier of China, and Dmitry Medvedev, the President of Russia, must have been previously engaged.
A lot of smart and sincere people were sucked in by this guy. Rick Warren included. Humans often disengage their brains in favor of their emotions.
No truer words…
With all these closed door meeting and events Obama has had recently, it leads me to believe that they might be catching on to the fact that the public caught on to his inability to say anything of substance.
I recall when we lived in San Diego (that would make it the late 80′s), one night on 60 Minutes they did a story on the Covert Operation scheduled to begin the following month that would entail sending agents undercover to infiltrate the drug cartels in Mexico. They even showed pictures of the agents.
The next week the DEA announced the operation was scrapped.
