Romney Kicks Off Presidential Run, But His Slogan Kerrys a Familiar Tune
**Written by Doug Powers
One of the first things an “exploratory committee” should do is explore whether or not anybody from the political opposition has fairly recently used the same slogan, but maybe that’s insignificant when that opposition is also saddling you with being the brainchild of their signature piece of unpopular legislation. We’ll get to all that in a minute.
First the story from Politico:
Mitt Romney made it official Monday, announcing he’s formed a presidential exploratory committee for his all-but-certain second-chance Republican campaign next year with a video that highlights the nation’s massive loss of jobs and says “President Obama’s policies have failed.”
The move makes Romney the second semi-declared contender — Tim Pawlenty was the first, and on the Democratic side Obama made official last week — and will allow him to start raking in campaign cash toward a massive fundraising goal of well over $50 million.
He also made the announcement a day before the fifth anniversary of enacting as governor a sweeping Massachusetts health care law that has emerged as one of his biggest obstacles to winning the GOP nomination and one that Democrats have been gleefully seizing on.
Here’s Romney’s logo and slogan heading into 2012:

(Aquafresh sold separately)
“Believe in America” — where have we heard that slogan before?

Romney’s slogan is ringing a bell, I just can’t connect the dots at the moment.
In any case, President Obama and David Axelrod have on numerous occasions credited Romney as providing the Hope & Change crew with the conceptual modeling clay for Obamacare, and Mitt’s first slogan for the 2012 campaign is recycled from John Kerry. I’ve seen stronger starts, but who knows what’ll happen.
Here’s the video from Romney’s website:

I believe Bill O’Reilly will continue to dig into this. He is a pretty stubborn man. And, he said he thinks this is a more serious threat to our country than terrorism! I don’t think he will let this drop. And yes, he is going to get some crap for that. But he can take it!
Good one, thejim!
I don’t think Trumps a fool at all. I think he is everything you stated and more.
But he will not run if he thinks he’ll lose. And third parties don’t win. So unless something drastic happens I don’t see it. Now, we are certainly heading toward a third party. The internet will become the new media tool that brings it together I believe.
At some point very soon I’m hoping a third party will emerge to crush out the RINOs but do you really think Trumps the man to unite us?
Off topic…
Is anyone who lives in the Minneapolis/St Paul area going to the conference at the downtown Hilton on June 17-18th? Our own Michelle Malkin, Andrew Breitbart and many others you will recognize will be there!! I just registered for it and got a room at the Hilton for the night.
If anyone else is going, please let me know. I am going alone and it would be fun to meet someone from this site!!
I won’t bash you, Dexter. I totally agree. We CAN NOT and MUST NOT let Obama have another 4 years, even if we do not get the strongest conservative and have to hold our noses.
Let’s try and get the most conservative candidate via the primaries. And remember, the R primaries are NOT winner-take-all this time around, so we still might be able to make something happen at the convention. Regardless, we will have to back the candidate to remove Barry (and like GladzKravtz says, any 2-3 more Supreme Court Justices). A third-partier will not be successful this time, as he/she will only split the R vote – again.
Yea happy I thought a Rubio/Bachman 3rd party ticket would be sweet in’16, but Cain/Rubio s has a nice ring to it….
Under the right circumstances, and they are emerging quickly, Trump could win running as an independent. He doesn’t run to lose and were a very unpopular Obama be re-nominated to run against a typical GOP milquetoast like Romney or Pawlenty or yet another Northeast liberal like “Two-ton” Christie, lots of voters in the fastest growing party in America, unaffiliated independent, would be willing to vote elsewhere. He could win with as little as 37-38% of the vote which would be a landslide for an independent considering how many people are automatic votes for their party.
All we would need as conservatives would be for Trump to come in second behind Obama and the GOP would be through as a national party. And without the GOP enabling them, the Dems would have to shift sharply to the right.
It’s all good and I expect that if Trump jumps in, he is in it to the end. This is not a stunt.
I think Trump is great for repeatedly tagging Obama and the water carrying media with punches and counter punches.
Proof that all one needs to do is stay on offense because liberals can’t play defense.
I think Trump has a lot to offer. However, he might really “tick off” the Chinese. He isn’t very good at playing “nice”. Will they take it from us? I don’t know. I do know we need to get tougher and show the world we are to be reckoned with. We definitely have lost the respect of the world. But being nasty and insulting might not be the way to go either!
No one despises Obambi more than I do, so I’ve said for awhile that Satan himself could run on the GOP ticket and he would get my vote!
With that said, I hope like h**l that we don’t have to stomach a Newt, Pawlenty, Romney, Huckabee, et al. It was difficult enough pulling the lever for McCain (in reality, I pulled it for Sarah), but anything to defeat BO!
O.K. Now you’ve done it!! Phil is going to yell at you and call you a RINO and a Troll!! Be ready. Gird your loins. Here it comes!
I promise I’m not a troll, nor am I a RINO! But I’m ready – bring it on, Phil! : )
LOL!
Here is my “whatif” What if Trump proves Obama unqualified for president? Both the Democrats and the GOP lose. The GOP for sitting idly bye why the greatest scam in US history is happening before its eyes. It already sat by while the Global Warming scam was happening. The Dems of course would be ruined as a party. Even Obama’s two supreme court picks would have to be removed. It would be a constitutional crises. But one we would recover from.
Trump’s no conservative, he’s in it all for the money and pr he can muster. Romney is a business man that succumbed to the lime lite, he’s not running to be the next Winter Olympics savior.
Look seriously at anyone the LSM is telling us is the best for the GOP. At this time that is Palin, Bachmann (who i personally like), Cain is a good one, but all three need to improve on the illegal alien position.
Agree, no milk toast RINOS and I don’t care what their military record was 40 years earlier. I rather lose with a hard nosed conservative than lose with someone we all know has no chance from the start. A conservative will win more fence sitters, so called independents, than a RINO will after having their eyes opened after 4 years of Barry who?

Of course we would recover from it.
I think we would spectacularly recover from it…stronger and better than we have been in a looooooong while.

Yes, when one comes to these stark and ugly realities, there is very def. that OMG Moment. As a Housing Bubble blogger, mine came in May 2007. Like Col. Kurtz, I’ve learned to “make a friend of fear and moral terror”.
Oh! Bill further mentioned he believed The Design is to have virtually ALL commerce ‘directed’ thru… Government! Something Michelle Malkin has been saying since at least Dealer-gate. “Picking Winners & Losers” she would say?
I’ve been thinking a third party by 2016, after 2012 & 2014 pissed enough people off and the internet community grew even bigger we could basically write off the tv news outlets, but after listening to Charles Kruathammer at the PA leadership Conference, I’m convinced that 2012 is vital.
He was careful not to name names and in part, put it out there that he isn’t saying -Obama- is deliberately trying to crash the system so it can be “recast” in a socialist model. Just the “far left”.
But… if the “far left” is behind it, how can Obama not be deeply involved? The answer is that he IS deeply involved. He may be economically illiterate, in fact, there really isn’t anything significant is IS an expert at, except maybe reading a teleprompter. But he is involved.
He’s among the people looking to destroy the economy so it can be “changed”. “Fundamentally changed” is I believe his quote.
The guy is America’s enemy. As are his associates. They need to be put behind bars after a long and enjoyable public trial.
I do believe there will be a serious popcorn shortage when that happens. TV Theatre at its best! I can hardly wait.
You vote defensively and not from the heart as our Founding Fathers intended. You perpetuate the status quo.
What is the far left if not socialists and communists?
Why do we want Trump? I’m happy he’s brought out some important issues, too, but he is pro-government-run healthcare.
He isn’t who we want.
I think that Ed Morrissey’s take on Trump and his threatened independent candidacy is definitive, and can be encapsulated thusly: “H. Ross Trump.” Except, as Morrissey notes, Perot was a better businessman.
Whether as the Republican nominee or as an independent, Trump would be easy to beat. A man just as vain and narcissistic as Hope-a-Dope, and so easy to reduce into a caricature: someone who is too familiar with business bankruptcy law, yet who promises to save us from financial ruin; and someone who, while he correctly diagnoses that we are no longer respected in the world, offers as his “solution” economic policies that would guarantee trade wars with just about everybody on the planet and a hazy foreign policy that seems half isolationism and half vague bellicosity.
Oh, and he’s a birther, too. Great.
Regardless of who the Republican nominee is, the donk strategy will certainly be based heavily on turning him in the public’s mind into a cross between Freddy Krueger and Bozo the Clown. Making Trump the standard-bearer would make that effort so much easier for them, even easier than it was to convince people that Tina Fey and Sarah Palin were one and the same.
At the end of the day, one thing you can say for sure about Donald Trump is that he’s all about “The Donald.” If he carries out his threat to run an independent candidacy, the only thing he’ll do is to make four more years of Hope-a-Dope an ironclad guarantee.
If you want better Republican candidates than people like Romney, then instead of complaining about him as some sort of media-driven inevitability now is the time to be putting the spurs to them to enter the primary fray.
Rogue – You may be right, and I would love nothing more than a true Reagan conservative running for Prez. But the fact of the matter is that we cannot afford 1 more day, let alone 4 more yrs of a communist sock-puppet named Barry Soetoro running our wonderful country into the ground. He is evil. We get him out and then we begin to weed out the RINOs. 4 more yrs of Barry in office and we won’t have the RIGHT to vote anymore – I have a feeling he’ll make himself Supreme Ruler for life and then what?
Happy, think about what your saying. Isn’t that the problem? We don’t care about their feelings. They don’t need to like us, they need to respect us. Trump wouldn’t be bowing and apologizing to anybody.
It should be the other way around. China needs us far more than we need them. We are the only country on earth that could seal its borders, fight a war against everyone else and win. We have everything we need to be who we are without anyone else’s help. Food, energy, raw materials, water, you name it. We got it. Only the US can say that. And we have the only large modern military on the planet.
China is a house of cards teetering on collapse. Very unstable. With the recent crackdowns on liberty, I would say that the strains are beginning to show.
I will never again hold my nose and vote for another RINO!
One more thing – I don’t think the Founding Fathers had any inclination that our Constitution would be bastardized and ignored the way it has been over the last 60 yrs or so. I think the FF would forgive me for voting with my heart, armed with the knowledge that we can’t continue allowing BO and his handlers to further destroy our country.
Somewhere along the line Happy, you confused your now banished friends attacks on me as me attacking them. I don’t go after people but I will defend myself.
I challenge you to come up with even one instance (since I apologized to you for one misunderstanding years ago, to which we agreed to forget it and move on) where I attacked you or called you or anyone else for that matter names without repeated provocation. If you are an honest person, you will acknowledge that I am the target of frequent ad hominem attacks and I almost always ignore them. I NEVER lash out at anyone.
If people don’t agree with me, tough. There are lots of RINO commenters but I post my comments keeping in mind that most readers of this blog don’t post comments and that they are probably fans of Michelle. RINOs don’t like Michelle. I don’t need to defend myself against ad hominems. They never come from conservatives.
I think Jefferson understood that this would happen. That is why he thought the people needed to periodically clean house, and it is also why he was no fan of political parties.
On April 12th, 2011 at 1:09 pm, Pasadena Phil said:
Sorry, but no.
A RINO is either an elected Republican or some kind of operative in the party. Individual citizens expressing their hopes and fears for this country are not RINOs.
Furthermore there is not some giant, monolithic, currently silent group of voters out there (in California or anywhere else) just waiting for the right Constitutional candidate to get behind and push to victory.
There is just us (and people like us). Fallible, fractured, and factionalized, but we care about our country, and we want to save it if we can.
We disagree on some things, but we are, or ought to be on the same side.
And if a RINO gets the nomination, what then?
If the RINO has a chance of winning?
If the RINO has a chance to be nominating the replacements for Ginsberg and Souter?
If the RINO has a chance of signing into law whatever legislation the GOP House and Senate send to him/her?
“Never again” is pretty absolute.
I’m just saying there’s a time for ideological purity (primaries) and there’s a time for practicality (general).
Eighty percent of what you want has to be better than 100% of what you don’t want.
Conservatives are already having an impact on the GOP. The Freshman class in Congress, and the new crop of Governors shows that. If we continue to stay engaged, the RINOs will be winnowed out. We didn’t get in this pickle overnight, and we won’t get out of it overnight, either. We’re making progress. I don’t believe in cutting off your nose to spite your face.
But, vote how you see fit. I surely will.
Ed Morrissey is also on the roster for the conference in Minneapolis in June. Anyone else going? Besides our MM, that is!!
Phil, you are right…you haven’t been actually attacking anyone. I think sometimes it comes across that way because you are passionate about your beliefs. Not everyone agrees with you, including me, on the subject of voting for the LOTE’s, but you do stand by your principles. I have always admired that about you. I also get harsh with some people so I shouldn’t throw stones. Actually, my comment was meant to be more funny than anything else. But I guess you didn’t think so, huh?
I totally agree! Good post!
I am a Libertarian. I support the Fair Tax, less (much, much, much, much less) spending, smaller (way, way, way, way, smaller) government, freedoms, and no Marxism.
That being said, I hope someone like Cain will ignite the people this year. I really liked Duncan Hunter in 2008 as well as Huckabee. Unfortunately by the time the primaries arrived, all we had left was McCain.
Regardless, I voted for McCain because even a RINO is preferrable over a marxist.
My point is we may well have to learn from the liberal progressives. Patience and accepting victories in small doses.
It almost hurts to see people getting all wrapped up in anger about anything less than 100% victory by conservatives right now. This can be damning. Wouldn’t it have been nice to elect someone who was maybe not quite as conservative to run against some of the Democrats and watch as Harry Reid, Barbara Boxer, et al, had to pack up and leave? A moral victory is no victory when D’s retain control of the Senate. Did we shoot ourselves in the foot by selecting O’Donnell, Angle, and Fiorina?
Would I vote for Romney? Not in any primary where I had a choice. Would I vote for him in a general election against Obama? I would vote for a dung beetle in a coma against Obama.
We must be careful about fracturing our coalition. The Tea Party has awakened plenty of people. Now we must continue the good work that we began in 2010.
Remember, it was third party action that put Clinton in office. Democrats may be hating Obama right now, but you know they will be pulling the lever for him (many times each) in 2012.
I’m right there with you.
Okay then. Friends again!
Herman Cain’s latest weekly commentary:
http://www.hermancain.com/inner.asp?z=9
Romney’s executive order to clerks is the ONLY reason that two people of the same sex can get married in Mazatwoschiz. (The Mass Supreme’s Griswold decision was ignored by the legislature and they didn’t tell Romney to do anything at all.) http://massresistance.org/
Romney is why we are FORCED to buy health insurance – exactly what Ronald Reagan warned us about 50 years ago:.
Romney has totally flip-flopped on abortion. I’m still not certain what his true belief is?
Romney is ‘squishy’ on illegal immigration. He claimed he was going to ramp up enforcement but didn’t actually DO anything until his last month in office so nothing happened at all. He agreed with McCain in the 2008 debate on the Z visa with a minor difference – make it ‘temporary’.
Romney is not about Liberty or small government or even conservatism. He’s just as much a RINO as McCain and will LOSE as well as McCain did. You simply CANNOT WIN trying to “out liberal” a liberal by going half-way in their direction in an attempt to somehow satisfy “the middle”. Doing that just helps to VALIDATE THE LEFT’S POSITION to those “in the middle”!
Reject the left altogether. We need a hard core conservative this time – conservatism WINS in the hearts of US citizens including the middle. It always has and what happened last November is all the proof anyone should need.
Sorry .. that was Goodridge not Griswald!
Link to Romney’s foul play.
I would vote for Trump in a heartbeat.
Me neither, but I reject the context of your premise. I surely will also.
Let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his vote that he is not making a present or a compliment to please an individual — or at least that he ought not so to do; but that he is executing one of the most solemn trusts in human society for which he is accountable to God and his country.
Samuel Adams, in the Boston Gazette, April 16, 1781
Vote you heart and your principles, to do otherwise, serves no God, Country, or Man. Rogue Cheddar
Trump’s appeal to me is obvious. Without regard to his positions there is a hunger for a candidate who addresses issues head on and has candor.
Trump has that in spades. I am not sure he reflects my views or is even Presidential material, but his style is most refreshing.
Good posts both of you.
If only some of the democrats I know would do that.
The selection of the GOP pres candidate is exemplified by the name of the company the main dinosaur worked for in that series of the same name: WeSaySo
We will get the GOP candidate that TheySaySo.
I am seriously considering voting independent if that happens.
Impossible by definition. A democrat pol has no principles. I do not mean that in a snarky way. I mean it literally 100%. As for heart, ditto. They vote for what has the best chance of keeping them in power. Period, has been, and always will be.
I’m less convinced. He’s too .. “Johnny come lately” to both his alleged conservative pedigree as well as to the political scene in general.
According to “On the issues”:
He’s pro-choice.
He’s pro ‘hate’ crime legislation.
And WORST … he favors national health care.
Go back to February 2008:
On February 5, 2008, Mitt Romney made a promise to the public to battle “all the way to the convention”.
Then, less than 24 hours later, Romney met behind closed doors with unnamed “prominent” people and sold out to the shadow government on February 6, 2008.
Then, on February 7, 2008, less than 48 hours after promising to battle “all the way to the convention”, Romney quit at CPAC with the lamest excuse I have ever heard for quitting a political race:
When I heard that, I knew in my spirit that something was wrong. Nothing had changed on the terror front between February 5th and February 7th. Something else had changed. I believe that the “behind closed doors” meeting with unnamed “prominent Republicans” on February 6th is what changed. I believe that these “prominent Republicans” promised to help get the VP slot for Romney, and make 2012 “his turn”, in return for Romney quitting the race.
That, not terrorism, is the logical explanation of why Romney quit.
Romney’s excuse of “I simply cannot let my campaign be a part of aiding a surrender to terror” was designed to paint Mike Huckabee into a corner. Because, according to Romney, if Mike Huckabee didn’t quit and hand the nomination to John McCain on a silver platter, then Mike Huckabee would be “letting his campaign be a part of aiding a surrender to terror”.
Huckabee responded to Romney’s withdrawl in his own CPAC speech on February 9th:
Later that same day, Huckabee won another primary with 60% of the vote.
McCain was getting panicked… he was running out of public financing money and if Huckabee won too many of the remaining primaries, McCain would not have reached 1191 pledged delegates to clinch the nomination… that would have resulted in a brokered convention, and McCain may not have emerged the nominee from that convention, especially if Huckabee had all of the momentum.
So, what happened next? Romney sold out even more…
On February 14, 2008, Romney “released” his delegates to McCain.
In my opinion, his words and actions, both at CPAC on February 7, 2008 and upon “releasing” his delegates to McCain on February 14, 2008, completely confirmed that he had sold out to the shadow government in return for the promise that it would be “his turn” next time. Romney did not keep his word. Romney sold out principles in return for promises of future power. Romney did everything in his power to hinder an honest competitor (Huckabee) who was still trying to defeat McCain.
Had Romney kept his word, and battled honestly all the way to the convention, I could have happily voted for a ticket with him on it. Now, however, I know that a vote for Romney is a vote for Soros. Now, I would vote for a third party Constitutionalist/Tea Party candidate over voting for the Republican Party should Romney win the 2012 nomination.
There’s as much chance of me voting for Romney as there was of me voting for McCain- 0%
Trump 25%
Cain, Bachmann, 100%
Sorry, but Rubio and Jindal are likely ineligible for the same reason Barry Soetoro is, non-citizen parent.
Native born is not natural born.
I’ve mentioned it a couple of times. No one will address why they still support him.
Very interesting DWD. The quote on healthcare is from 2000. I would like to know what he thinks now, if differently? The reason I like him is that I think he FULLY understands the Muslim problem in the world, and doesnt seem prone to pandering in the least bit to political correctness when it comes to Islam, or anything for that matter. I know he understands what is wrong with this country economically, and from a couple of his interviews, he at least says the right thing about dealing with the Chinese and their currency manipulation, and the rest of the world when it comes to America first policies in trade. He gives straight answers to straight questions. I dont think he can be bullied around. But having said that, certainly his position on a single payer health care system would be a deal breaker for me, if he still felt that way.
sbw999, Will respectfully disagree with you on this. I have some lovely neighbors who live their lives as fiscal and social conservatives. The only giveaway is that blamed political sign that sprouts in their yard every so often. So while I believe they have heart and solidly good principles, I failed to mention that they must be a ‘tetch’ thick headed. Believe me, I don’t waste my time trying to convert them (but they have a son who is coming over to the dark side)
Until we piss each other off again!
Have you heard the Ann Coulter sound bit from Hannity out today?
I sure wish they would drop the born in/ not born in HI crap. It’s the natural born issue that is being trampled. And again, maybe that’s the diversion ?¿?¿
The obfuscation is intentional. He is unquestionably not a natural born citizen because of his father’s citizenship and his being born a British subject. Native born was deemed insufficient by the founders.
But native born is the standard being pushed by the propaganda ministers.
Last night I even came across an article that said, “what if he wasn’t born here, so what?”
They seem to be preparing the ground for him being found out.
You beat me to it.
Well said.
No problem Gladz, but that is why I said dem pol, because I too have many dem friends (and even a few family members!) who have hearts of gold, but to me are just politically naive or misguided. Dem politicians however, I believe aptly fit my description.
Apparently, some people here can’t get past the birther issue. Most of his talking has been addressing these very issues and his stated positions are exactly opposite to those above.
If you just hate Trump now matter what, there is no point posting comments. The GOP alternatives aren’t exactly convincing on where they stand on the important issues either. Trump doesn’t hesitate in giving bold and clear answers. He is not trying to persuade the special interests that he is “the guy” for them.
He has already caused the Rove/Bush big money to postpone handing out money until at least June, if not September. They aren’t sold on Romney and Pawlenty needs to show up on the polls. It may just be Christie who ultimately wins that prize and he IS a Democrat on every single issue.
You nose holders might as well just file for a lifetime ballot that automatically records your votes for the Republican across the ballot at every election. Nothing between today and election day matters. Your vote is automatic. The GOP doesn’t care how you feel and that you are unhappy and since you aren’t interested in making them vote for your vote, you have to traction in these discussions. Your votes are automatic and have already been tabulated.

Precisely!
The real issue is not where Barry was born but, rather, to whom. By Barry’s own words, in print and
online, he was born to a British subject-Kenyan citizen father whose British/Kenyan nationality
(citizenship) conveyed to him at birth. Assuming that’s true, nothing can change that basic fact. That basic
fact makes him a dual-citizen at best. And that basic fact prevents him from being a “natural born Citizen”
having sole allegiance to and faith in the Untied States of America because a dual-citizen cannot possibly
have sole allegiance to or faith in two different countries…NO WAY.
That does not, of course, lesson Barry’s deceit in not releasing ANY other personal documents or his
possible Social Security System and/or Selective Service System fraud.
I thought Rubio’s parents became citizens!
It’s the Social Security number fraud that is most interesting to me at this point in time.
If he were a citizen of any kind, he would have a legitimate number, he wouldn’t need to be using someone else’s.
They may be now, but I don’t think they were before he was born.
The post referred to
democratsocialist politicians.Regarding your neighbors:
Elections have consequences.
If your neighbors are helping to elect the people who are financially burdening, indeed slowly strangling, most of us at this blog; and if they are helping to elect the people who are slowly killing our country; well, it matters litle to nothing whether they are lovely, and whether they live their lives as fiscal and social conservatives.
That sort of sounds like a long way of saying that they have theirs; and that they live in a nice, safe area; so that they are not yet affected by, and do not care about, the consequences of their votes.
The issue has become why Obama adamantly refuses to show the certificate and why it is crazy to ask the question. What possible argument can be made defending this? THAT is what is crazy. Show the certificate already!
I thought they were. I will need to check that. Lordy, I hope he is eligible. He is perfect for the job!!
You’re being disingenuous if you think people like me aren’t insterested in making the GOP change. You evidently stop reading everything before and after the “vote pragmatic in the general” parts. I want a strong Conservative candidate/president. I want the GOP leadership to listen to Conservatives and stop reaching across the aisle. I want everything you want. But once the primaries are done, I won’t vote to put another Obama into office. And, no. McCain, or Romney, or Pawlenty are not ‘another Obama’. Sorry. I know you disagree. But don’t tell me I’m not interested. My general election vote may be automatic, but it’s automatically against the Socialist-Democrats, and for the only other candidate with a chance of winning. Vote for the Perots of the world if it makes you feel good. I’m not telling you not to. I’m just making my case… and trying real hard to do it without denigrating you purists.
Ohhh, well then in the words of Rosanne Roseannadanna,
I know, it really pisses me off when they keep saying that the birthers say Obowmao wasn’t born in America. That’s not what most of us are saying, it’s whether or not he meets the Constitutional criteria of natural born citizen for the Office Of The Presidency! All I know is that I don’t know and neither does the MSM and all of America! The rest is just noise. Some day we’ll find out, and historians will say “How did this happen?”
Personally, Herman Cain is the best out there at the moment. His most appealing quality, besides his conservatism, is his non-politician status. Trump has that same quality and if he brings down Barry Soetoro for the fraud that he is, I will cheer from the rooftop.
Romney, Pawlenty, Daniels, Huntsman, Barbour are more of the same establishment stooges selling us out at the border, to the Chinese, and to the banksters.
No logical argument can be made, but what do liberals care?? This is just demagoguing by the North Korean style American media, and for liberal pols on anything that has even the potential of causing their little White House puppet problems. They do the same intellectually dishonest dance with global warming when they vigorously insist that there is no longer any scientific dispute but that man-made global warming is a fact. They know that not only is this not remotely true, but in fact the science goes in the opposite direction disproving GW. Liberal propagandist liars would make Goebbels proud.
You miss my point entirely. Your vote is not at risk. Regardless of how you feel, what you say, or what your intentions are, in the end you will vote for the Republican candidate every time.
You will never get the conservative candidate you want and will always end up holding your nose to vote for the LOTE. It’s in the bag. The primaries are pointless these days. By the time most of us get to vote, it’s all over. McCain was the nominee right after NH.
Your way of doing things has predictable results and yet you insist on doing it the same way over and over again. Don’t be afraid to try something else. The GOP is not a listening machine, it is a dictation machine and they have your number.
Or, as she also said…well excuseeeeeeeeeee meeeeeeeeee……
Well said.
The key sentence.
Correct.
Correct.
Having more time to struggle against less of an opponent is a good, practical thing.
And that would be the difference between having a RINO vs. a socialist in power.
We have to concentrate on winning the war, not on winning just a battle.
Pasadena Phil Rule:
I don’t vote for Democrats or liberals, especially when they run as Republicans!
If everyone adopted that rule, we would have a second party. Without the Republican party, the Dems would have to fight us themselves. With the Republican party, we have to fight off the Republicans enabling the Dems by blocking us out of the way.
So go ahead and hold your noses and vote for the LOTE. You deserve the result and the scorn of conservatives.
I won’t, if you won’t blame me when the Rino doesn’t win.
Correct.
Whenever a socialist/opposite worldview-holding politican or media meretrix starts off by saying that, the conservative/traditionalist (if there is one) in the conversation should say loudly and firmly, “STOP RIGHT THERE!”
The first basic deception was to focus the discussion on birth place instead of natural born citizenship, which then allowed the further distractions of the Certification of live birth versus a birth certificate. To further marginalize the Constitutionalists and deceive the public, the Obama cabal propagated the lie that ‘the birthers’ were those who believed Obama was born in Kenya—instead of his ineligibility due to his father’s British citizenship.

Very interesting stuff, now that The Donald is in the mix.
I was told in the last election that if I did not vote for the GOP nominee, no matter how distasteful that was, that I would be responsible for BHO getting elected.
BS, I’m stating right now as I did last time, The RNC wanted McAmnesty, he was unacceptable. This time they want Romney. Again, unacceptable. If they succeed, they forfeit my vote. I’d rather keep Obamacare than swap it for Romneycare. The blame for the failure of the U.S. gets put on the right party.
Granite, our neighbors are tetched. But I have been corrected re: dem politicians.
FYI
Our couch is perpendicular to our front window.
I think I’m the only one in the neighborhood who can come out of a dead sleep and count the # auto shots fired. “Hey, Mr. K, wake up …What kind of a gun fires 8 shots.”
Wish I had a police scanner to find out what those copters are up to.
Moments ago I did watch Ann Coulter’s Hannity appearance. I like Ann, but I fail to understand how “She” has personally seen “The Birth Certificate” and roughly 308 million fellow citizens, somehow, missed it.
Correct.
They are hiding something, or they would have released everything requested. And the “Birther” label is intended to scare away anyone with legitimate credentials that would question his background.
He has something to hide. The question is what is he hiding. A criminal past? How did he get a passport that allowed him to travel inside Pakistan? What are the details behind his social security application in Connecticut? If he lied on that application, should he be prosecuted for a felony?
How did he get into Columbia University if he failed out of Occidental? How did he support himself in NYC? Who was the guy he lived with in NYC that he ended up traveling with?
And all these questions…. for which any answers are being flatly refused….. are about the sitting president of the United States.
How is this acceptable to anyone???????
might i splash about?
ALL well thought, presented, and respectable opinions
while muddying the waters greatly, i ask that you consider what is quite possibly “the double-edged sword” of commie/islamunism … throw in “the economy” for the complete triangulation of fire…
as beck (essentially) suggests, why WOULDN’T they get in bed together– they BOTH desire to continue to take from us our remaining freedoms and liberties.
MY question is who would give us instant respect internationally, and sure as g.d. hell WON’T EVER bow to foreign heads of state
I contend that we need a
boxcartrainload full of disposable candidates to pacify the trolls, smear-mongers, and Mud Sling Mediathere’s plenty of time to get a very good candidate prepped and electable
+++ i believe that he was ‘educated’ like MOST of us in that we were given the junior high version of what really happens… then when it “hits ya” and MOST of us WRETCH at the thought, he changed his mind
i dare say it’s FAR more important to fan out across the fruited plain (w/your copies of the 5000 yr. leap) and truly educate your countrymen (maybe remind em’ of ALL THOSE that fought and died)
choice is yours – set back and snarc now and complain later OR get the hell out there and fan the flames of the sacred fire of LIBERTY. (this is our viet nam here at home)
+++ when asked about amnesty, i’ve heard Rubio become vvveeeeerrrrrrrryyyyy pensive and NONspecific ….”some” type of ‘path to citizenship’…….
Yes, I also saw that last night. It made no sense to me. What did she see exactly? She said the “short form”. Whatever the hell that is… and how did she see? Was there a private screening with a red carpet and hollywood bimbo’s parading around?
And Hannity didn’t press her on it.
All he had to ask is “What exactly did you see, where did you see it and how did you viewing of this document come to be?”
On the surface, it seems to be that she could only be talking about the Cert of Live Birth. As far as I know, no one on the planet has seen his birth certificate.
Tell that to Chris Cannon and several others.
I don’t like the Presidential Primary process either. I’ve written to the RNC to insist on closed primaries and stopped donations, except to individual candidates. But, until that ship turns, it is what it is. As long as we keep electing people like Allen West and Scott Walker and Rand Paul, the GOP will get there. I just don’t think it’s a good idea to abandon them because they’re not there now.
All of you nose holders are wasting your breath with the “perfect is the enemy of good enough”, or any of the other same arguments used for McCain. I will not hold my nose, even against The Usurper, who I believe is a communist bent on destroying the nation. I did not beleive McCain would or should win.
McCain didn’t even believe McCain would win, nor did it appear he even wanted to win. Amnesty would already be passed and electing a conservative ever would be a distant memory.
They are all thinking about the growing (legal) hispanic population and the potentially legalized, currently illegal hispanic population.
Sounds like we was intentionally walking a tightrope. Which does little to indicate his real position on it.
The path to citizenship is crap. There already is one. The only path illegals need is a path back to their native homeland, that their US born kids can join them on.
Is there even a single republican candidate that for securing out border, enforcing our laws, souring the job well for illegals and deporting as many illegals as possible?
Maybe Coulter can tell us why she and a few select FOOs get to see the birth certificate and no one else. Why is she allowed into that group? And why is she shilling for Christie? Suddenly, she is not such a conservative. She is just a run-on-the-mill polemicist.
People like Coulter are showing that they would rather protect their income than get at the truth. While I have enjoyed Ann’s work, I’ve come to realize, it’s all a schtick to her to make money. She was gushing about Christie, king of the Democrats in R jerseys. She’s a paid mouthpiece.
dittos, Planiac !
I like Ann, too, and don’t understand her stance on this. And she said that ‘nobody is talking about this, but she’s wrong. Even Rush brings it up occasionally. Still, I’d like to ask her “If I were to have asked you five years ago what “Natural Born Citizen” means in the context of Art II Section 1 of the Constitution, what would you have said?” In a non-Obama world, everyone would have said the obvious: a citizen, born in America, to two citizen parents. They’re being dishonest when they say now that Obama is eligible. They just don’t want to be called “racist”.
Still, it surprises me about Ann. She doesn’t shy away from controversy.
Phil, you and I were writing at the same time.
She saw the forgery on the internet and takes it at face value. Even if genuine, he’s still not a natural born citizen. The elites pretended he was eligible out of fear and now must denigrate those seeking truth. This is a sick nation. Strong medicine is required.
Ann Coulter is too manly and too annoying for me. I get distracted by that adams apple. Greta had the certificate of live birth on right afterwards and Trump was pressing the point. It blew away anything Coulter said. Hannity also should Palin telling Trump to go for it. She is enjoying this.
What we NEED is that wild card. Maybe it is Trump (no pun intended). The advantage of Trump is that he is harder to get to. And you have to believe with the billions invested in Obama that that is important.
Mitt chances are slim and none of winning the nomination, let alone the Presidency, because all those “moderates” he and so many other Republicrats chase after will never vote for a Mormon for President. You know…the people who like to remind everyone how open-minded they are?
There was one last time, his name is Duncan Hunter. The RNC and the Roves of the world did everything they could to marginalize him. He won the Texas straw poll and others prior to the primaries. Had the states all voted simultaneously he probably would have won. He was out before conservative states could even vote. The calendar was rigged and I believe Rudy and Fred were blockers for McCain, tying up votes that wouldn’t gravitate to Hunter. They did not want to take a chance on letting America eected someone who would enforce the laws.
He would have cleaned The Usurpers communist clock.
No apologizing for Billy Cunningham using his middle name.
No telling supports they don’t have reason to fear a communist as President.
MacEamnonn, you have a point. I saw this in Arizona when the Phoenix 40 lead by Colangelo got rid of the maverick mormon governor.
