‘Let Me Finish My Answers’

President Obama did sit-down interviews with four Texas TV stations at the White House yesterday. Beforehand, Mike Allen at Politico explained why these kinds of interviews are conducted:
The White House sees these interviews as a way to cut through Beltway chatter and give the president an opportunity to talk to Americans about his vision for the country, in a venue that’s familiar to them. Obama’s communicators choose stations from different regions of the country, with a particular emphasis on stations that have content-sharing relationships with other stations in the region. For example, today’s interview with WFAA in Dallas will also be seen by viewers in Austin, San Antonio and Houston. With the reporters invited to come see the president, the interview becomes more of an “event” and is heavily promoted as a White House interview.
In other words, it’s a good way to be seen by a lot of people in a certain region without using the national press but instead some local anchor or reporter who’s just going to be happy to have the opportunity, and as such, less likely to rock the boat and conduct a tougher interview.
Sometimes though it doesn’t work out that way, as was the case with a WFAA reporter:
After the interview, Obama pointed out that he doesn’t like an interviewer challenging his comments.
“Let me finish my answers the next time we do an interview, all right?” he said.
Of course, there’s never enough time to ask all the questions, but on one that Texas Republicans keep bringing up — that the president is somehow targeting Texas — he said clearly, he is not.

If Obama heads into the 2012 campaign thinking that the media is going to wag their tails and roll over so their bellies can be scratched with Hope & Change like they did in 2008, he’s… correct to some degree. But a portion of the press will refuse to blindly swallow the Kool Aid this time around, and they are the reason we’ll probably see many more expressions of dissatisfaction like this (or worse) in the coming months. Especially if those reporters are from Texas.

For those of you who think chap isn’t a troll, he IS a troll. Did you forget how he, like every other liberal, “jumped the gun” with the Gifford shooting?
Before we knew the facts, he cried “America is now Pakistan.” Because you know, a crazy person shooting people up, including a politician, is the same thing as a religious/political movement that routinely assassinates people they don’t agree with.
But then when there were threats of violence and murder against politicians, because of their political views (and not from lone crazies), you know, the Wisconsin death threats? All of a sudden, America wasn’t Pakistan, as chap fell strangely silent.

“DES MOINES — Gov. Terry Branstad signed 11 bills into law Tuesday, including legislation that would allow people — who have been adjudicated mentally deficient to carry a gun — a process for getting a gun if their situation changes.
Backers say Senate File 456 fixes an omission in the “shall issue” law approved last year.
The legislation is designed to conform Iowa law with federal requirements that allow persons who were subject to disqualifying mental health disorders or judgments to regain their right to possess a firearm in a fair and impartial process.
Supporters say that someone with a head injury who is assigned a conservator or guardian is generally prohibited from owning a gun. Without the changes in S.F. 456, that person would have no way to regain gun ownership rights once an injury had healed.”

I don’t oppose the bill at all, in fact, I am a deep support of gun rights for people in Red States.
I think every person who lives in a Red State should own an automatic weapon, regardless of mental history.
I just hope they all stay in the Red States and do what people with mental issues do when they have guns in their hands.
Do you ever wonder where the equivalent exists on the other side of the aisle? From what I can tell, there is no reciprocity. Free exchange of ideas on comments boards seems overwhelmingly a phenomenon of the Right; the Left (from what I can discern) has no real equivalent and yet that doesn’t register with the folks that come here daily, tilting at windmills again and again.
ILMC apparently sees no irony in the fact that he’s allowed to come here and spew about how bigoted people are (ironic in itself!) with impunity.

…..You do realize, of course, that most of the gun violence occurs in blue counties regardless of the political make-up of the entire state.
Also, like people who are physically injured, folks with certain mental issues can be treated. We do live in the 21st Century, after all.
But, I confess, I do feel a lot safer with heavy weapons in the hands of the people you are insinuating should have them.

Certain individuals are obsessed with coming onto blogs they don’t agree with thinking they can stump and/or change everyone.

Rogue; I had some doubts about either my pc/server problems, or that I had been banned from the site (I could still see all of my posts, aside from one time yesterday when I did 3 in a row that didn’t show up for about 15 minutes). I was getting no response from anyone posting here w/my questions.
