Earth Day Recycling
**Written by Doug Powers
In honor of Earth Day, here’s a nice job of bumper sticker recycling from Tea Party Artwork:

Speaking of Earth Day, we all knew when Barack Obama was elected that the environment was a primary concern of his supporters –so much so that his inauguration in 2009 closely resembled the first Earth Day in 1970 (h/t C5s Simian Roadhouse):

Fitting tributes to environmental stewardship.
Here’s a passing thought on Earth Day. The United Nations is debating “human rights” for Mother Nature. If that’s ever the case, will trees be able to sue treehuggers for unwanted and inappropriate touching? If so I plan to get a government grant to conduct “good touch, bad touch” seminars for sequoias as well as a law degree so I can represent the Amazon rainforest when it files for a restraining order against James Cameron and his abusive carbon footprint.
Update: Earth Day-worthy information:
President Obama declared today’s 41st annual Earth Day proof of America’s ecological and conservation spirit—then completed a three-day campaign-style trip logging 10,666 miles on Air Force One, eating up some 53,300 gallons at a cost of about $180,000. And that doesn’t include the fuel consumption of his helicopter, limo, or the 29 other vehicles that travel with that car.
Update II: A co-founder of Earth Day is celebrating today by maintaining the greenest, most carbon neutral prison cell ever.
Update III: An Earth Day classic featuring George Carlin.

Thanks for the funny replies – DiaryGirl’s was the best.
Have a happy Easter weekend.
ILMC
Can’t argue with that. You, too, ILMC.
You, too, have a Happy Easter, ILMChappy.
Can’t cite chapter and verse, but I’ve read in my bible that there comes a time when man will love the creation more than the Creator.
Hey, ILoveBeingaWorldCitizen – take your Gaia beliefs with you when you post on DailyKos’ website.
It is also probably something Mr. FirstSkirt has to wrestle with every day.
I LUV you DiaryGirl and do not worry about ILoveBeingajerk liking it too–he doesn’t count.

Do not get too infatuated. NOTE: “after shooting my gun at a shoplifter”
She did not shoot the shoplifter. She shot at him. A WARNING SHOT
Only some RINO Moderate would waste ammo with a warning shot.
Just kidding Dairy Girl……Glad to have you out here.
Mr. Flyoverman: You are so right…Mr. FirstShirt has his hands full with me (heh, heh)…little play on words there.
BUT, TODAY, he is outside grilling the biggest burgers he ever made, spilling beer on the trees, throwing his trash on the ground, occasionally spitting, and just generally demonstrating his overall disdain for any and all Earth Day lovers who may live nearby.
Snort. Touché, my good man. Touché.
Mrs. Flyover has a similar “problem.”
Mr. FirstSkirt certainly knows how to celebrate Earth Day.
I’m leaving work early today.
When I get home, the pig is coming out of the Weber. We also have:
Rice (Sigh)
Boiled Red Spuds
Insalata Caprese
steamed asparagus (Yuck!)
Sweet Potato (Casseroled with brown sugar and pecans)
Baked Manapua (Char Siu Bau)
Loaf of Round Bavarian Bread
Salmon (saute’d)
Chicken Chow Min (because Mother-in-law always makes it)
Bitburger, 12 pk.
Johannisberg Riesling
And that should do it.
Thanks for posting this Stillontheroad.
I’ve sent Alicia some feedback with just a small dose of constructive criticism.
Yo, Flyman - he just went over to the fence and peed in our hippie neighbors yard while smoking a cigarette. Damn, it doesn’t get any better than this!
Gee, HANGFIRE – What’s it gonna take to get invited to dinner at your house? This menu is to die for….where do you live….I can be there in ____. I’ll bring the dessert!!
OH YA!!!!
Did he leave the cigarette butt behind as a calling card?
Here’s what I sent to Ms. Shepard:
Wanna bet I get an email form letter response?
Plane fare to Honolulu
When Mr. FirstShirt gets pissy, he really loses it. He has now made a hard plastic (non-recyclable)plate for our lib neighbors where he has loaded it up with a humongous burger, two brats, all the trimmings, and, I think, about 20 napkins. He is taking it over and leaving it on the hood of their Prius. Of course, he has littered their entire yard with the dropped napkins. He put the little cigarette butt in a small paper dessert thingie. I am so loving this!!! Even better, they love Obama so we know for a fact that they own NO firearms.
Supreme cruelty is reserved for the defenseless – Jim Bishop
You know, they won’t be able to put 1 and 1 together. No firearms, mischief abounds. Maybe you should play the audio version of Dr. John Lott’s book More Guns, Less Crime. Crank up the volume.
Does anyone else find it funny that Michelle’s earth day event had to be cancelled due to a little rain?
Huh, I guess mother earth has to fend for herself when the weather turns bad.
It’s a strange lack of tollerance within this bunch, they’re just not accepting the “mother” as she is. Embracing the sun but forsaking the rain. It almost seems…biggoted.
I probably should have ended with /s
Did it snow up there again ?
In case it hasn’t been posted yet…
Never forget just who it is that moves environmental policy in this country.
These are the people who keep us from developing our own resources but then turn around and complain that we rely too much on foreign energy.

Thank you for the heads up. I also contacted Ms. Shepard and communicated my thoughts about senators and congressmen and future budgets for public supported media and why it is not a good thing to piss people off.
Let’s see. Today I had the tree service out to remove some tress that were dead/dying or in the way and chip them up. The smell of diesel and the sound of chain saws and the wood chipper on Earth Day morning
I then filled up the SUV and went to work, accidentally forgetting to shut off the lights when I left. When I got home I mowed part of the lawn and fired up the grill for dinner. Ice complaints of the ice maker. Dishes are now in the dishwasher on the longest cycle possible.
Maybe we’ll have to pay the bill for him
Gosh, Hangfire, that’s a looooong way to go for supper, but it would be worth it! Can you accommodate about 20 people arriving on tomorrow’s 1 PM flight? – heh.
Happy Easter/Passover to you and yours.
Happy Human Achievement Day, everyone!
Here is the full link concerning NPR everyone – I know this is way off topic but it needs to be brought up:
http://newsbusters.org/blogs/tim-graham/2011/04/22/npr-catholics-receiving-holy-communion-are-dogs-taking-pill-peanut-butte
I ended up lying to ILoveMyCountryside.
I celebrated Human Achievement Day by going to MacDonalds (who is hiring human beings) and buying fast food which was transported in artificial containers made, ultimately, from trees.
I waited in the clever double line with my mini-van idling and the air conditioning on to receive my food, and I paid for my food with The Root of All Evil. Which was also made from trees.
Now, I’m typing this message on my computer, and am about to go hunt down and kill the last bug in my game before submitting it, in a heartless act of pseudo-capitalism, to the Android Market.
That is how I’m celebrating Human Achievement Day.
Hiraghm #131,
Thanks for the vid. I do precisely that every Earf Day, Enjoy what we`ve made from the earth, not worship it ! Odd though that the last statement in the vid is credited to FDR, a socialist !
Well, you may want to point out to them the harm to the planet that occurs when bagels are made. They are made from wheat so you have this whole farm thing with tractors and pesticides and irrigation, and combines and trucks. Then you have this processing thingy where honey and sugar and eggs are combined in them to give them the sweet taste. all those ingredients rquire their own processing using energy and oil. Then of course, the dough needs to be chilled so there is refrigeration and all that energy used for that. Then they have to be baked, which of course requires electricity which is generated by basically burning oil along with the energy used up to make the equipment to do that. The workers that do all this have to drive to work and there are lights on in the factories and there is a lot of equipment to make the equipment that was also made using energy and oil and parts of the earth from mining and trees and stuff like that, then they are wrapped in paper or plastic and trucked around the world so they can sit in grocery stores or other buildings which also have lights and equipment and employees and…whew.
If everyone cut out one bagel a week, we could save the planet. We don’t need Earth Day. We need Don’t Eat Bagel Day.
Did they put cream cheese on the bagel? Well, to make cream cheese requires…
Hope they didn’t use a napkin because…
I have a problem…
In order to cut out one bagel a week, I’m going to have to start eating bagels…
Maybe there will be a Stroud TEA on July 4th that all us Okies can get together.
Your right. Sometimes the best laid plans have flaws.
Perhaps it would be easier and cleaner if we just cut out the entire bagel industry all together.
Stroud Okla. Ah the memories. I went to OSU and did a lot of storm chasing in that area in my youth.
First (and only time) I went Sky Diving was at the Cushing Airport.
I didn’t forget, I don’t forgive September 11, 2001
Dittos on the praying for safe return of Marizela.

WHa?? Can’t hear you….you’re ..eakin..up. ello? .
Say two “Our Father’s”, Three “Hail Mary’s”, and eat 2 McDonalds double-cheeseburgers.
Is it just my imagination that enviro-nuts have already done this (ie. stranded on an oil rig that they trespassed on and had to be rescued at sea)?
From your link:
Update from Rosslyn Smith:
I dislike it when vicious mountebanks like Einhorn became infamous while their victims remain nameless. Her name was Holly Maddux. and her family waited a long time to see justice done. She was an effervescent wisp of a blond from Tyler, Texas and a graduate of Bryn Mawr. Holly had ended an often abusive five year relationship with Einhorn by moving to New York. She only returned to Philadelphia because when she called to tell Einhorn that it was over for good and that she had a new boyfriend, Einhorn threatened to throw all her belongings out on the street if she didn’t hurry back to retrieve them. She did and was never seen again.
Alright, now that just puts my blood pressure way up. Unbelievable that the worm’s still alive. Public executions really need to come back. April 22 looks like a good day for it.
Along a similar note, I couldn’t help notice this byline from the MSNBC story Doug linked to in the blog post:
“Ira Einhorn preached against Vietnam War and violence, but had dark side”
That looks like it belongs right up there with “Stimulus package spent over a trillion, but had downside”, or “Incarceration is up but crime is down”.
By the way, I was hoping to see more buzz on this thread about the other part of what the post is about: Herman Cain. The establishment (conservative and liberal) is still ignoring him. We need to get a move on here.
Either that’s some Urkel math, or someone is getting a hell of a discount on aviation fuel.
$3.37 a gallon?
I know the taxpayers subsidize everything this nitwit does, but I’m sure aviation fuel for his little joyrides cost a little more than that.
The real Source of Earth Day, and every day: “The earth is the LORD’s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.” Ps. 24:1
My loyalty is to Almighty God, Creator of Heaven and earth, and His Son, Jesus Christ, who died and rose again for my sins, paying the price I couldn’t pay. Alleluia!
I’m sure I’m not the only one who found it very ironic that the gaia-worshiping “Earth Day” this year landed on the very calendar day that we remember the greatest sacrifice for mankind, given by the Lord of Heaven and Earth! “Choose ye this day whom ye will serve…but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24:15
Oh, and I love the “recycling” of the bumper sticker. I’m sure I still have mine somewhere, never got around to cutting off McCain’s name as I had originally planned…so I’ll just get out the red marker instead!
Run, Cain, run!!
Just finished reading all the GREAT comments on this post. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them!!
Happy Resurrection Day to all (including ILMC)!
Beautiful post! Thank you for those words of inspiration.
Happy, Blessed Easter to all my Christian friends on this blog!!

I always thought the enviro-nut jobs lived in the dark..I wonder if they opened their eyes if they could see all the beauty around them(closed minded bigots).
happy, thanks! I always enjoy reading your posts too. Have a blessed weekend!
