If the the history of the United States were represented by the movie resume of Tom Hanks, the Obama presidency might fall somewhere in between Joe Versus the Volcano and The Terminal, but that doesn’t stop a good portion of Hollywood from thinking the current administration is Forrest Gump quality.

From The Hill:

Speaking in a tiny room of the Italian restaurant Tavern to a an audience of 60 that included Steven Spielberg, Will Ferrell, Tom Hanks and George Clooney, Obama said he understood frustration with his compromises with centrist Democrats and Republicans on healthcare, ending the Bush tax rates for the wealthy and other issues.
[...]
At the Tavern event, at least, Obama seemed to make some headway.

Hanks, for one, could be seen turning to his table mates and saying: “Five-and-a-half more years.”

Five and a half more years until what? China repossesses the Hollywood sign?

Hollywood has a luxury the rest of America doesn’t in that if their political and social wish list is implemented, they can either afford to move away or make the mess into a horror/tragedy movie and still eek out a living. The rest of us are screwed.

Here’s Spielberg, Farrell, Hanks, Murphy etc leaving Obama’s fundraiser in an impressive procession of Chevy Volts:

Obama promised his Hollywood supporters that — in order to keep them from becoming former supporters — as soon as he got back to DC he’d redouble his efforts on all the issues they think he’s let them down on. And sure enough…

President is playing golf at Andrews

Despite sprinkles just before we left the White House, the president is playing golf at Andrews AFB. Motorcade left the White House at 12:32 p.m. and arrived at Andrews at 12:56 p.m. Ben Finkenbinder, David Katz and Marvin Nicholson round out the foursome.
