LSU Students Chanting ‘Go to Hell, Hippie’ Chase Off Would-Be Flag Burner
**Written by Doug Powers
Some brief background in case you missed this one:
Benjamin Haas, communication studies graduate student, will burn an American flag tomorrow (Wednesday) at noon on the Parade Ground as part of a peaceful protest, according to Cody Wells, Student Government president.
Wells said Haas is exercising his First Amendment right to burn the flag. The burning comes nearly a week after Isaac Eslava was taken into custody after cutting down and burning the American flag flying over the War Memorial and stealing the University flag.
Wells said Haas went through University procedure to host tomorrow’s protest, and he also went through the procedure to organize a “peaceful assembly in response to recent flag burnings.”
“We’re going to respect his First Amendment right to burn our American flag,” Wells said.
He added he and others will then “exercise our own First Amendment rights” by holding their own ceremony.
Get a mental image of what you think Haas looks like, and you’re probably fairly close. That picture answers the age-old question, “Did the singer from the Spin Doctors ever have any kids?”
Anyway, today Haas showed up for his flag burning, and he was met with… well, let’s just say, a lesson that the First Amendment works both ways, and sometimes the loudest way chases off the smelliest way:
Suggested headline for tomorrow’s paper: “Hippie wimps out, William Ayers hardest hit”

Ooooooh “huffpo and kos.” The huffington post is a seo-whore joke that no one takes seriously, and i’m pretty sure the daily kos hasn’t gotten one page view in the last five years. It’s about time you updated your liberal boogeymen.
I’m sure that’s how his ‘parents’ treated Haas.
Um, did we wish him death?
Do you cherish it?
Yes. But if someone else doesn’t, that’s fine too. That’s part of cherishing America, to live somewhere where it’s legal to express your displeasure (even you get hell from jerks).
just so I get this right, it’s not just the students who were yelling that are ‘jerks’?
I noticed that you made an unsuccessful attempt to deftly sidestep the question and deflect without having to give an answer.
I ask again, without using names you can deflect with, are you a hypocrite or not? Do you hold liberals to the same standards you are trying in vain to hold people on this site to?
Part of cherishing America is protecting it from those that don’t. Expressing your displeasure with your representative Government by burning the very symbol of America is not cherishing it. There are other and better avenues to voice displeasure.
Speaking as a Vietnam Veteran and retired police officer, I can say with some reasonable certainty that the police officer on horseback was probably just dying for this “flag burner” to do something reallllly stupid so that he could take some kind of appropriate action against him. Just my personal view and gut instinct.
I don’t really understand your question, but if you yell at someone for expressing his opinion, you are a jerk.
I think so. But I don’t usually see Democrats flipping out over someone who’s different from them.
Ever seen the ‘pro-choice’ people facing the ‘anti-murder of the unborn’ crowd?
The reality is simply that flag burners aren’t just doing it to “protest their government” they are doing it in part to arouse the passions of those they know will be offended by it.
No person burning a flag today can reasonably claim that he/she doesn’t know that there are thousands of fellow Americans that would be instantly offended by the act, regardless of what you’re protesting.
After all, the flag is a symbol of the nation–all the nation, not just the government alone. It is a rallying point for all Americans and by burning it you are sending a message that you have contempt for ALL of America.
I think flag burners know this.
Protecting America from that guy? He’s as harmless as flour.
Sure. I’ve also seen tea party protesters call Barney Frank a faggot. We could go back and forth all day about crazy people on both sides. But being passionate about your beliefs doesn’t mean you have to go ape over those who disagree with you.
I agree 100%. He is absolutely wrong to disrespect all those who have died for his freedoms – who have lost limbs, inhaled mustard gas or Agent Orange, faced down untold evil we can’t even comprehend – all for his right to disrespect them.
I also think he’s best left alone.
By the way, Major O, have you read Catch-22? I just got done reading the chapter on Major Major Major Major. Love it.
Not long ago, there were consequences for offending people. Since liberals know no other form of speech other than offensive speech, we all now have to tolerate their insanity. Our own form of protest (telling them to shut-up) is somehow infringing upon their right to free speech.
Also, note that no one is allowed to infringe upon the peaceful speech of a liberal politician. Do that and they haul off the wacko to the corner where the hookers are hanging out. It’s perfectly fine to rant at a town hall meeting of a conservative though.
Liberal wackos should practice their trade somewhere other than the deep south. No one there will be offended when they’re run out on a rail.
There is none so blind as one who will not see.
So, I repeat, you took the liberals to task in the same manner you attempted to take us to task on here, right?
I also remind you that I have posted in this thread, before you began with your condemnations, that I thought it wrong for anyone to assault this kid or try to prevent his exercising his free speech. I notice you did not give anyone credit for taking that stance when you made your accusations.
so you rescind this?:
?
Exactly the opposite! For toddlers, an angry reaction to bad behavior, (not hitting- that was saved for when they were actually doing something dangerous), only gets you more of it because they are doing it just for attention. So you give them ZERO for it. Then you give lots of attention for them behaving the way you want them to behave. (Worked for us…)
Haas will be more likely to do this again if:
A. He draws a crowd of thousands of people shouting at him.
B. Nobody shows up.
He was probably buying 10 flags a day and burning them in his basement but then realized nothing was happening because nobody knew about it. (You might laugh but seriously, some of these people are just plain NUTS.) “Ah ha! If I tell everyone I’m going to do this – THEN they will come!”
Hass controlled them. He got them to come there and got them upset – exactly what he wanted and now he’s laughing his ^$$ off at them.
You need a new prescription for your beer goggles.
Ya’ll better be careful or I’ll use the Jedi Mind Trick on you.
I hope that’s not what you did when they ‘wanted attention’ in public.
Yes. I do. But I’m more interested in challenging people over why they think the president is doing a good job, or what the hell is going on in Libya, etc. I really don’t have any patience for culture war crap. If some jackass wants to burn a flag, then let it burn. America was great before him, and it will be great when he’s gone.
Never had to because they already knew it would get them nothing.
I’m serious. Our approach was generally – walk out of the room if either of them started whining or carrying on. It works beautifully. You come back in when they stop and then they would try a more civilized approach in the form of a calm and reasoned ‘request’ (‘reasoned’ for toddler that is). They learned very quickly.
I don’t know. Liberals do have the sideshow of trivial crap, like Carrie Prejean and the Palin girls, but I think they normally go nuts over something that matters, like protecting abortion rights or lying to go to war, etc. (I would love for liberals to get just as fired up about the terrible president we have now as they were for Bush, but that’s another story.)
What’re those again?
Fine. I’ll take you at your word and answer your original questions.
Yes, we are. And as I said 13 posts before yours, I don’t agree with those who would assault the goober, but I recognize their right to counter protest.
Not particularly, and that is not a question that comes from a truly intelligent place. It smacks more of a smart a$$ retort intended to inflame a situation.
I would hope that, as you say you do, you ask that of those liberal punks who will not allow a conservative to speak at a forum, especially on campus. It’s FAR more prevalent than something like this, even if you claim to not see it.
Just because you’re paranoid does not mean they are not out to get you. Ayers is an admitted bomber and killer. Wright has been allowed to say how much he hates America. Franken stole a Senatorial election and has proven to be a buffoon. Yes, if given power, I think these types would indeed ruin the country.
No, but his followers bear watching. I am sure that every time someone talks about a white supremacist group or a neo-nazi group, you taunt them by going off and asking if they are so batsh*t crazy that they think Hitler is haunting them from his grave.
The man may be dead but his ideas are alive and well.
Good Lord, yes, and I’ll leave it at that.
I think that if you invited the Boy Scouts to join this pinhead for an impromptu flag retirement ceremony, the Scouts would not be as cautious as the students here were (I recall an incident in PA a few years ago, punk got decked by some scouts).
You should check out the video from the WI tea party protest. Plenty of them there.
Or the video of WI Dem legislator Chris Hansen breaking out a megaphone on the assembly floor.
I could go on…but I’ll end with this:
Flour is highly explosive if backed with a lot of hot air. Maybe you should stop providing it.
Fair enough, but then I’m going to assume you also understand that some folks think he shouldn’t be left alone in terms of going unopposed and so they are exercising the same freedom he has to oppose him and they are no more wrong to exercise their freedoms as he is.
Sorry, that’s Peter Barca with the megaphone. Obviously suppressing the sad memory.
That’s a good question. Ask Anthony Kennedy.
Psych!
Another proud LSU grad here and the mother of a current student. My buttons are busting
the flag burner is disturbing the peace. He should be arrested for fomenting violence and for perpetrating unrest in a crowd.
Homosexuals at Philadelphia City Hall screamed and shoulted as they surrounded some Christians who were merely praying. The Christians were arrested for disturbing the peace, the Homosexuals who were acting in a threatening, violent manner, got a pass.
Don Adams and others, protesting peaceful across the street from Philadelphia City Hall against William the Oral Sex corruptor of US Youth in his non-sex sex act – Clinton, it WAS SEX!!!!, was grabbed, over powered, pushed down to the pavement below, and beaten by Union thugs who were as large as buses. The police arrested Don Adams, and the District Attorney, Lynn Abraham, was pressing chages against Adams, even though he was the person assaulted, pushed to the ground, set upon by a mob of Union thugs amid several hundred Union persons at the outdoor plaza at Philadelphia City Hall.
In San Francisco, after Proposition 8 passed a few years ago, a group of Chirstians were ganged up on by a mob of militant, violent, terrorist, intolerant Homosexuals who were screaming and threatening them, assaulting them verbally and threatening them with their mob, blowing whistles loudly, and forcing the small group of non-violent, peaceful Christians to move on in order to escape the onslaught. The police came and ejected the Christians, with the claim being that they escorted the small group set upon by the intolerent homosexuals, out of the area.
In campuses throughout the USA leftists over power the audience, throw objects, attack speakers, all of whom are conservative, Christian, israeli, etc., and in virtually none of the cases are the perpetrators who shut down free speech ever arrested or punished in any way whatsoever. They have succeeded over and over again in squelching free speech by Conservatives, Isralis, Christians, etc.
In Tea Party demonstrations throughout the USA the Tea Party participants were so well behaved and clean that there were virtually no arrests, and not a single piece of trash or garbage left behind, whereas after leftist, Klan-with-the-Tan black racist demonstrations, such as those run by Klan with the Tan leaders-rabble rousers-racists Al Sharpton, Malik Shabaaz, Jesse “I Have a Scheme” the Shakedown artist Jackson, Calypso Louis Farakhan, and others, and in leftist, anti-war (not really, they just pretend to be anti-war and care for people) there were arrests, trash and garbage carpeting the area of their “demonstration” for scores of blocks, and violence, foul mouthed rants, abbrasive language, etc.
Clearly the left, black racist-Klan with the Tan thugs, Hispanic, ethnocentric racists, such as perpetrators of the illegal invaders projects, are violent, unruly, foul nouthed, bigoted, racist, crude, and do not respect free speech, while conservatives, Tea Partiers, pro-lifers, Chrisitans, and Israeli speakers, are respectful, intelligent, eloquent, informed, patient, and well mannered, as well as clean, orderly, and well behaved.
This scene with the US flag brings back the clear comparisons between the rank crude persons, like the US flag burner, and the crowd, which, finally, this time, is not Union thugs, or leftists, or smelly, unbathed hippie types, or racist Klan-with-the-Tan Hispanics or Blacks, or phony “anti-war” cretins, or violent, intolerant, crude homosexual related groups.
The majority does not have to continue to be tolerant or passive on such matters, when the cretin burning the flag’s “freedom of expression” is in direct conflict with the freedom of expression of the majority who love the USA and respect her flag and don’t want to allow some crazy idiot to burn her.
If the homosexuals can be violent and terrorize small groups of praying Chrisitans and the small group of Christians are the ones arrested, and a small man can be knocked to the ground and set upon by union goons, ganged up on, beaten, and so forth, and it is the small man who is not violent, but is the victim of violence is arrested and charged, even though the television cameras were shooting the scene live and is unadulterated, irrefutable proof that Don Adams was the victim, and the Union goons were the perpetrators, yet Adams is arrested and the Union goons are not even reprimanded, and if conservative speakers on campus, and elsehwere, are harassed, attacked, and threatend, and their free speech is shut down time and time again, it is clear that the US loving, conservative people are within their rights to express their feelings at the expense of one idiot who is in contradiction of such expression.
Are we really having this conversation? Do you all really have a problem with ANYONE not sharing your world view? Are they that threatening to you that your entire world will come down if you cannot silence them? Are you that batsh*t paranoid that Bill Ayers and Reverend Wright and Al Franken will ruin the nation you so cherish? Is Saul Alinsky haunting you from beyond the grave? Do you have nightmares of Rosie O’Donnell?
–Red State Skeptic, May 12th, 2011 at 12:40 pm
RedStateSkeptic, I rarely NAME-CALL, BUT IN THIS CASE, IT IS WARRANTED: HYPOCRITE!!!!!!!
Where were you, RedStateSkeptic, when the students at Columbia U. ran off the founder of the Minutemen, shouting him down, and not allowing him to speak? Where were you when the various students from various schools of “higher learning” in Northeastern or West Coast States bullied off Military Recruiters? Where were you when Code Pink’s operatives shoved themselves in front of Sec’y Rice with bloodied hands? Where was this puffed-up anger, Red State Skeptic?
Why is it that Freedom loving, Flag-embracing AMERICANS hafta’ “sit down and shut up!” when a leftist wants to trash people who support the things we hold desarly to, silence, bully, and assualt them for merely holdign to traditional values, and exercise oour “right to remain silent” when soem goofball wants to torch the American Flag, the Bible, the US Constitution, the Declaration of Independence? Why is it, Red State Skeptic?
You troll your way on here time after time after time trumpeting liberal views, applauding with Bill ayers as he desecrates the flag, and thumbs his nose in the face of justice, you support the goons and thugs who ant to silence those standing for traditional values, but the minute the coin is flipped and the showe is on the other foot, you cry foul?
I say it again: HYPOCRITE!!!!!
Here’s what else I say to you: AWAY WWITH YOU!!!!!
If you and your ilk cannot take the heat, don’t start spreadin’ fires. If you and your followers don’t like protest, then don’t protest to begin with. If you and your friends don’t like free speech, then it’d be better to just SHUT UP! Don’t protest, bully, or intimidate (or support those who do) those standing for traditional values if you cannot or will not take some when the tables are turned.
If chunmps like tghis Ben Haas really wants to burn the flag, go ahead and let `im, but don’t forbid me to show up with 1,ooo friends to protest his form of protest. You, Red State Skeptic, and your ilk, are just as likely to call up the troops to support SEIU, Plkanned Parenthood, and protest the Minutemen, the US military, and any thing else having to do with American Family and Traditional Values. Fine by me. but take your medicine when the shoe’s on the other foot and the tables are turned. Don’t whine, and cry, and holler ‘Foul, Foul!”
If you can’t take the heat, stay oouttra’ the kitchen.
Just one more reason to love LSU and the South in General. I applaud these students for doing what’s right. and so what, all of you bleeding hearts, if Ben Haas was pelted with refuse? He has a right to protest his way, and so do we. If Conservative Speakers can get pies in the face with little to no rebuke from allegedly “civilized” liberals, why should I care if a would-be flag burner gets pelted with trash in protest to his attempted flag burning?
And walking away and/or keeping quiet and quietly? Those of you here who say that this counter-protest is what Haas wanted? Try learning from History: Leftists WANT us either Quiet or DEAD……….or both. Read how Lenin, Stalin, pol pot, Castro, Guevara, Kim, Mao, et. al. reacted to people who protested their ideology. Put people like Haas in complete power and we will have the Same iin the USA. We’re already getting it from Mr. Obama….
Jason L. . . well stated.
With the dogs of liberal MSM constantly nipping at the heels of the TEA Party movement trying to paint us as a bunch of hateful white racist homophobes guilty of intimidating, hitting, spitting, lying, – you name it – WITHOUT any of that being true can’t you just imagine what they’ll do when something on the list is true and can be connected to anyone of the TEA Party?
I’m certainly no ‘bleeding heart’ for this moron and my aim is to PROTECT more Flags from being desecrated by ignoring people like him on the basis that when you give a clown an audience – they’ll keep coming back for more and start replicating.
If he was known to be a Downs Syndrome individual with an IQ of 60 and desecrated a flag would you still be so proud to be throwing things at him?
Well that’s a little like how I view someone like Haas. Who but a mentally defective person would desecrate the very thing that symbolizes their right to protest? Such can only be categorized as insanity.
So you walk AWAY from them, pay no attention to them and yes, even PITY them for their sad state of mind.
Doing that is immune to MSM exploitation. It cannot be reported as anything but what it would be – a NON response that successfully rendered a mentally defective person’s plan for lunatic notoriety into being a NON event. (I.E. – likely no mention of it at all by MSM.)
I can’t tell you where I was, but I agree that was uncalled for. I object to the Minuteman Project very strongly, but I would not attempt to silence them.
When you have an officially discriminatory organization, I think it’s entirely appropriate not to let it try and recruit on your campus.
Sec’y Rice lied and said that the aluminum tubes intercepted en route to Iraq could only have been used for nuclear weapons, when she knew that the Department of Energy had already deemed them “poorly suited” for such use and appropriate for conventional weapons. And you give a crap that a grieving mother whose son died as a result of the Bush administration’s lies had a problem with that? You SICKEN ME.
what’re those again?
How amusing (and pathetic) you would ask that question after I cited – and linked – one of them.
LOL–
Racist
When you have an officially discriminatory organization, I think it’s entirely appropriate not to let it try and recruit on your campus.
What’s discriminatory abut the US Military? That they only want the best and the brightest? That’s “discrimination” that is not only called for, but of sound common sense. If there’s some other form of discrimination that you are referring to, please post such.
–Red State Skeptic, May 13th, 2011 at 12:39 pm
What lies? And that “source” you posted? It proves nothing, and Secretary Rice said herself athat AT THE TIME they fully believed that the aluminum tubing was being used for WMD procurement. Source. My problem is that the code pink people who did such things to Secretary Rice could have dome things and protested a better way. And assume, Red State Skeptic, all you choose. I had a cousin who served two tours in Iraq before his death so, yes, I DO have a problem with a mother getting in someone else’s face unwarranted in such a classless and meaningless manner. There are better ways to protest.
And the Columbia U. people who disrupted and ran off Minuteman Project founder Jim Gilchrist were anything other than White people? To a large extent, that crowd was caucasian, just as the LSU counter-protestors were. Further, do you really think the Mainstream Media cares a tuppance about the make-up of the crowd, especially when it doesn’t suit them? There are black men who show up at KKK rallies wearing CSA Uniforms, but does the MSM ever give them even a moment of time? There are blacks, Latins, and Asians thath ave shown up at Tea Party Rallies, but does the MSM give them any time? The MSM will do what the MSM will do.
I’m certainly no ‘bleeding heart’ for this moron and my aim is to PROTECT more Flags from being desecrated by ignoring people like him on the basis that when you give a clown an audience – they’ll keep coming back for more and start replicating.
Then why are you decrying the LSU students that bothered to protest his flag burning? Simply because they did so, and by some twisted logic letting people do this in an empty venue somehow makes their protest less vulgar and less pathetic? Forgive me for saying so, but the only way to eliminate cockroaches is to expose them to the light and deal with them most decisively. Same said for clowns like Ben Haas. They choose to burn the flag, great; it’s his right. But it is also my right to assemble my friends and protest his flag burning. Again, failure to do so encourages others to do the same (just like ignoring cockroaches means many, many more a month later)…
If he was known to be a Downs Syndrome individual with an IQ of 60 and desecrated a flag would you still be so proud to be throwing things at him?
Irrelevant. We can do the “What if….?” thing until we are both blue in the face. He didn’t have Downs; he wasn’t mentally deficient; he wasn’t intellectually limited. He is a Grad Student with his full, functioning capacities and decided to burn a US Flag on a campus that cherishes the Stars and Stripes. He’s fortunate that only water balloons were tossed at him. Had he been a conservative on any Liberal Campus, he’d have had blood, feces, cream pies, and who-knows-what-else tghrown at him without a word of condemnation from administration (likely with their full support).
Well that’s a little like how I view someone like Haas. Who but a mentally defective person would desecrate the very thing that symbolizes their right to protest? Such can only be categorized as insanity.
But he isn’t categorized that way, not officially anyhow. As stupid as his decision was, he stil knew what he was doing, and his decision resulted in him being run off from the scene…
So you walk AWAY from them, pay no attention to them and yes, even PITY them for their sad state of mind.
Do that, and others will be emboldened. Say nothing, do nothing, and believe nothing is what got the world embellished in World War Two, the Romanov Family butchered by Lenin in 1917, and Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao, Ho, and a whole host of other despots into office.
Doing that is immune to MSM exploitation. It cannot be reported as anything but what it would be – a NON response that successfully rendered a mentally defective person’s plan for lunatic notoriety into being a NON event. (I.E. – likely no mention of it at all by MSM.
–Danceswithdachshunds, May 13th, 2011 at 12:18 pm
Trumpet the mentally deficient thing all you want. Haas knew exactly what he was doing, and LSU – despite them beign a State School – does not allow the mentally deficient to pursue Master’s Degrees in any field, even Communications. This isn’t a non-issue, and a non-event. The students who showed up did the right thing. I have no pity for this student whatsoever concerning him getting hit with trash, debris, and water balloons. As I said before, it could have been worse. However, stick your head in the lion’s (or Tigers’) mouth, expect to get bitten. If yu don’t want to have people throwing water balloons, don’t go around threartening to burn Old Glory….
Your evidence that Condoleezza Rice didn’t lie is that she denies lying? Read this 2004 article in the New York Times, a paper, if you will remember, that was the White House’s greatest champion outside of Sean Hannity in the run up to the war. Rice’s statement that the aluminum tubes were “only really suited for nuclear weapons programs” was only really corroborated by one junior analyst at the C.I.A., but disputed by others at the C.I.A., and of course by actual nuclear scientists at the Department of Energy who, again in this declassified National Intelligence Estimate, discredited Rice’s statement, well before the war began. She has no excuse to have made that statement in the first place, and there is cold, hard evidence that she knew it was wrong before we went to war, without correcting the record.
And again, how dare you accuse a grieving mother of a boy who died as a result of the Bush administration’s lies of not protesting the way you think she should?
Red State Skeptic, if you think for a minuted that the New York Times has been anything but a hindrance to every Conservative President since Reagan, you are more deluded than I thought you were. That, in and of itself, pretty much makes the rest of your arguments about Rice “lying” irrelevant. And protesting by getting in someone’s face in an unwarranted fashion – despite all your high and mighty rhetoric – is not protesting and certainly not grieving. I grieved over my cousin’s loss (I guess you missed that part, Red State Skeptic, didn’t you. Yes, I lost a cousin – a family member – as a result of the Iraq War), but I didn’t paint my hands with oil nor blood and get in the Secretary of State’s face to protest nor show my grief. There’s protesting, and then there’s luncay and ludicrousness, along with tact. Get off of your flippin’ high horse, because your puffed up offense is just that: puffed up and trumped up.
And your Declassified National Intelligence Estimate, something you’ve already posted, means NOTHING, as I said before. It shows nothing, it proves nothing, and continuing to post it again, and again, and again won’t make it show anything new. Secretary Rice’s discussion owth Mr. O’Donnell should clear the air, that, in hindsight, she believed the intelligence given by not only the CIA, but also every Intel Operation in the Middle East and all of Iraq’s neighbors. EVERY intel operation in every country of the Mid-East declared Hussain was trying for WMDs…the Mossad included. In light of that evidence, I’m willing to give Secretary Rice and the Bush Administration the benefit of the doubt.
You are free to lend your attention to whatever you wish and thereby bolster it’s importance and fame. What if a million showed up to shout at him and he did it anyway? THEN WHAT HAPPENS? He comes back the next day and 2 million try to shout at him. He’d be the winner – having gotten so many foolish people to be there angry at him. Your short sightedness at understanding how people like Hass are PLAYING you just causes more trouble.
So now we’re supposed to act like THEM? No thanks! I and a lot of other people are BETTER than them and will NOT follow you or anyone else to stoop to the same vile repugnant tactics that the leftists use. If you want to engage in mob intimidation tactics – brother you can count me OUT.
Attempting to draw such a parallel is an insult to every person who suffered the horror of WW2. Haas was not advocating killing Jews or marching into Poland or whatever lame association you’re trying to make to genocide and war – it was his right to do what he did and it harms NOBODY. If you think it does then show me your scar? This ‘emotional distress’ crap is just another sand box on the left and here you are jumping into it. If he did it ALONE because nobody showed up – what difference could it make? The ANGER you have belongs only to YOU. Perhaps you should try a little harder to control your own emotions? Hass might be reading your words right now, right here, and smiling that he can honsetly claim that he is in control of you, he made you feel angry and gee whiz wouldn’t you know it – THAT was his objective! He cannot claim that of me, I turned my back on him and paid him no attention at all. He cannot control people like me; I’m trying here to give people like you the same power…
Ted Kaczynski is extremely bright, not limited at all thus proving that intellect does little to protect anyone from doing insane things. Isn’t insanity a form of ‘mentally deficiency’?
And the next time when the balloons are filled with urine and the debris includes razor blades – you’ll justify your ACTIONS against someone else’s political expression AGAIN.. and AGAIN .. until most everyone is too afraid to say anything that YOU might not happen to agree with.
AND THEN THAT IS WHEN I’LL SHOW UP .. to stand against you. You can go on deceiving yourself that you are somehow “defending Our Flag’ – I’ll show up later to defend what it stands for.
The Butler commission CONFIRMED that Saddam was intent on resuming his nuclear weapons program.
Why? She presented the intelligence one way, while she receiving intelligence that told her otherwise. What part of that is not dishonest?
I admit that watching Cindy Sheehan could make me cringe at times, but it’s not for you or me to judge her actions. She knew the entire country was lied to (Mohammad Atta in Prague? really?) and she was told she was a kook for saying so. I’d get pretty nuts myself in that circumstance, especially after losing a child.
That’s not the same as saying he had an active nuclear weapons program in March 2003, which is what we were told by the Bush administration. When George Bush said the British government learned that Saddam had recently sought uranium from Africa, the CIA had already told the White House that intelligence was suspect at best, and the documents that the UK relied on were proven to be forgeries before we invaded.
oh, and…
Judith Miller?
From Bush’s 2003 SOTU address:
It came from the UN. Just because Saddam did a great job hiding it later didn’t fool anyone .. except you apparently.

Red State Skeptic
So why didn’t you say that on any of the union threads on this site?
All kinds of video was posted showing angry, hate-mongering thugs attacking peaceful TEA PARTY protestors.
Honestly, if it weren’t such good shooting by the TEA PARTY, why, I might’ve mistaken the union workers for Chinese policeman.
tsk tsk
No, Dancingwithdachshunds, he wouldn’t be a winner. The fact that people showed up AND HE LEFT without even finishing his statement shows that Ben Haas controls NO ONE.
NO ONE is also saying that we should act like the goons at Columbia U. with regards to Jim Gilchrist, but at the same time, Jim Gilchrist was also invited to speak by CU’s conservative student union. Ben Haas was invited by nobody and was doign this all for himself. Apples and Oranges.
It harms nobody? What about the memories of those men and women who paid the ultimate price to see that their flag didn’t get captured by a determined and fanatical enemy? How many standard bearers fell in all the wars the USA has ever fought? How many men in uniform – men such as my Granddad, my Uncles, and many, many cousins – went to Europe or the Pacific and spilled blood or died on forieng soil for not only the flag but also what it stands for? If the flag is meaningless, then why have a gun, a match, and one bullet placed near the flag on just about every military base of the USA in the world? My parallel is no smack in the face: Old Glory stands for much, and much was paid for her and what she stands for…
If Haas is reading my comments, then good for him. I’ll also let him know in advance that if he comes and tries to burn a US Flag at or near my house, he’ll get either a water balloon, a hose, or I will reinact the same Flag-saving play of Rick Monday at Dodger Stadium from a few decades ago. As far as controlling my anger? You’ve not yet seen me angry, Dancingwithdachshunds. Ben Haas controls no one outside of his own little world….and he obviously doesn’t control when and where he can burn a flag on LSU’s campus.
I’m sorry, when did Flag Burning equate to blowing people up with bombs? But since we’re equating the two (Haas with Kaczynski), all the more reason to keep Haas from torching a US Flag: may give him cause to do something worse. Thanks for making my point.
But see, Dancingwithdachshunds, it won’t be urine or razor blades, or soemthing more grotesque, was it? It was merely water balloons and debris…about the same thing people in Europe and Early America threw at people in the stocks; nothing more. And the stark difference between consrvatives and liberals is the evidence from LSU: water balloons and debris – nothing more. We get urine and razor blades, and bloody hands, and feces, and AIDS infected blood FROM THE LEFT…not from conservatives and those who hold true to what the Flag of the United States of America stands for. You can split hairs and argue “what if, what if?” and “next time, next time” all you wish: these LSU students showing up and making doggone sure that Ben Haas didn’t burn the flag in the first place guarantees it won’t happen again!!!! Had nobody shown up, we’d've not had that same guarantee.
Sorry, Red State Skeptic, your references to Cindy sheehan and the alleged lies Secretary Rice supposedly told are basically intellectually and morally bankrupt. Sheehan, for all of her grief and sorrow, left reality years ago of her own free will and deference. What you haves stated are not factually based nor even factually true to the slightest degree. They are your opinion and your opinion alone. My Cousin and her son are testament that there are right ways to protest the death of a son in battle. Again, anyone who thinks the New York Times is any kind of unbiased, balancedm, and fair barometer on the news is deluded and not really worth my time debating conservative and traditional values with. Thanks for nothing.
