The ‘Huckabee Not Running’ Overnight Open Thread

It was my intention to tune in tonight to Mike Huckabee’s Fox News show and watch his announcement live, but the weather provided me a window of opportunity of about two and a half hours to get the lawn mowed sans raincoat, so I took it.

By the time I had a chance to check, I was a little surprised, because it turns out that Huckabee will not be running for the GOP nomination.

From Fox News:

Mike Huckabee said Saturday there would be no sequel to his surprisingly strong 2008 White House bid, in which he won the Iowa Republican caucus and finished second in the primaries to Sen. John McCain.

“All the factors say go, but my heart says no,” Huckabee, who was considered the GOP front runner in several national polls, said on his Fox News Channel show.

The show is normally prerecorded before it airs at 8pm, but Huckabee saved the last 10 minutes of tonight’s broadcast to make his announcement live.

Here’s the announcement:

This will change the dynamic of who’s in and who’s out — to what degree remains to be seen. We’ll cover that in the coming days, weeks and months. It’ll be interesting to see how the polling shifts with Huck out of the mix.

Naturally, Donald Trump was one of the first officially unofficial (or vice-versa) candidates to comment on Huckabee’s announcement:

The DC elites created the mess, compounded the mess and will have to suffer the consequences of destroying it in the end.

Isn’t that what the progs have wanted to do all along? Isn’t it part of the Marxist/Alinsky model to destroy what currently exists so it can be replaced with their Marxist solution (which is not really a solution)?

Nor I, and if a doctor insists, I switch doctors. But I am not a good one to give advice. I have refused to ever use sun screen or sun lotion. I believe they are just a result of scare tactics and do more harm than good. Then I found out we are not getting enough vitamin D from the sun, because we block it out. I moved to a place that has well water because I am allergic to chlorine and not want Fluoride. I give dentists a hard time about the mercury in amalgam.

What it amounts to, is these are our decisions to make, not the governments.

Ironically I had cancer, and I had to spend months trying to convince doctors that I had a problem. They want early detection as long as its their idea ;-)

The irony is that they were utter failures. They are like the philosophers of irresponsibility.

Sadly the US government now, nor any time in the foreseeable future is going to actually do anything real or sustainable to stem illegal immigration

I wish it were not true, but my wishing is not going to change that

I know that that statement is going to get push back, saying things like, we could, the right politician could, etc

Well I agree, but with that said, there will not be a sustained effort from either elected party in Washington to do this

The money being made from both the cheap labor and illegal activity and the so-called fight against that illegal activity is too great

In Washington that is all that matters

    ChapBix,

That maybe what the Alinskyites want. Getting things to collapse into their hands is not a given. Alinsky didn’t write a book on what happens if his plan doesn’t work. His whole plan is based upon lies and deception not honest debate. Individuals with integrity are not Alinsky supporters.

I look at the flooding of farm land to save NO and Baton Rouge as a parallel for our economy. In an effort to save one, we lose the other without the assurance that the one we are saving won’t flood in the end. The elites have put themselves in a position where no matter what they do, they will lose. No matter what anyone one in DC does, nothing may get fixed. When it collapses, we have to be the phoenix rising.

oldcollegeguy1980, you just made a good case for a third party. If neither political party are going to listen to its citizens, who needs them.

That’s what it’s going to take, if we want to save our country. I don’t think enough of us do…..
