New Mediscare Ad: Paul Ryan Throws Gramma From a Cliff

By Doug Powers  •  May 18, 2011 10:50 PM

**Written by Doug Powers

The Weekly Standard points out that the creators of this ad, The Agenda Project, have a stated goal to “build a powerful, intelligent, well-connected political movement capable of identifying and advancing rational, effective ideas in the public debate and in so doing ensure our country’s enduring success.” Or just portray people with different political philosophies as murderers — whichever is most expedient.

What’s most surprising is that, in the ad, the Paul Ryan character keeps the wheelchair and doesn’t dump it over the cliff along with gramma to intentionally litter the environment and perpetuate global warming.

Will we eventually see a higher budget Medicare sequel starring Andy Griffith doing a little involuntary octogenarian base jumping courtesy of the evil GOP? Perhaps:

Fun fact: According to Chris Matthews, there/s a 50/50 chance that the elderly woman in the wheelchair was one of his viewers.

Then ask her what leverage there is for a government monopoly to keep costs down while providing great service?

Meanwhile back at the ranch you have pundits like Dick Morris and Bill O’Reilly discussing the GOP Presidential contenders. They agreed that ultimately the nomination would come down to four candidates; one “moderate” and three “conservatives.”

Romney was the “moderate.” The three “conservatives” were Daniels, Gingrich, and Bachman. THAT IS THE VIEW FROM THE ELITES.

Gingrich believes in the indivudual mandate and Daniels has a “D” rating from the Cato institute, but to those two elites they are conservative. The elites have no idea what’s going on in the country.

    The Wall Street Journal

What’s $2.3 trillion among friends? That’s the canyon between the Congressional Budget Office’s estimate of a $9.5 trillion federal budget deficit over the next decade under White House proposals, and the White House’s own estimate of $7.2 trillion. The discrepancy emerged in a CBO analysis released Friday, not that it got much media attention.

We thought you’d like to know, and we also want to underline a less-noticed section that shows that ObamaCare will be far more expensive than advertised. To wit, CBO says the entitlement’s health insurance subsidies will cost $1.13 trillion between 2012 and 2021, not $1.04 trillion, the prior estimate. This 8.6% jump is the result of revised assumptions, the so-called technical factors in CBO’s budget model. The bill’s total cost now stands at $1.445 trillion, according to another recent CBO estimate.

Toiling away to pay for government ponzi schemes is something we have done our entire lives (when you have paid your $1.5-2.0 MILLION in income, social security, property, etc. taxes like my wife and I have over the years, come talk to me about “entitlements”…) We need to address these schemes because they are unsustainable, but placing the blame (and burden) on elders who are no longer in a position to be able to change course financially isn’t likely to work out very well…

If they want to play commercial wars then I propose the GOP a Conservative group create a commercial showing an average American worker showing up at the bank on payday to deposit their check only to have Reid, Pelosi, and Obama run in and rob the worker of his paycheck at gunpoint. The voice over could say something like, With the Democrats in charge we all feel like we are being robbed at gunpoint each and everyday, the problem is the Democrats never end up in jail.

A second commercial could be the same worker in line at a grocery store with a shopping cart with water, bread, and cheese. The person in line in front of him will have rib eye steaks, Lobster, gourmet chees, etc and then pay with a food stamp card. The averagae American then looks at the camera and says thanks to the Democrats my family gets to starve while the lady in front of me gets to eat cavier while sitting at home all day watching Oprah.

John Kerry is considered to be a very smart guy by the left. He has said he was for $87 billion for funding out the troops. Then He voted against it.

So which John Kerry is smarter?

    Wrong.

OBAMACARE is nothing more than MediScare revised – an extension of it. If only someone would cut 500 Billion from MediScare for real … Better yet just eliminate it altogether to bring DC closer to actual compliance with the law.

As if that’s going to happen with the power hungry idiots that get elected these days …

It was quite so before it, and the law says DC can’t do it, so the answer is an emphatic YES.

    Re: Agenda Project.

These guys are masters of the bait-and-switch.

After coming off with obvious truths like

Consumed by ideology rather than ideas and rhetoric instead of results, elected officials from both parties seem more concerned about their own political futures than with competently addressing our common challenges. Only by drastically increasing the relative power of credible solutions in the public debate will we be able to implement the policies we need to resume our country’s forward progress.

These clowns actually Call George Bush, an obvious liberal Republican who gave the Left a VERY high percentage of what they wanted, part of the radical conservative movement.

Of particular note is the secretive Council for National Policy (CNP), which may be the most influential of the conservative network. “[F]ew people, outside its members, seem to know what the group is, what it does, how it raises money, and how interlocked it has become in the matrix of conservative activism.” CNP was reportedly conceived in 1981 “by at least five fathers, including the Reverend Tim LaHaye, an evangelical preacher who was then the head of the Moral Majority.” Paul Weyrich, a familiar name from the Heritage Foundation, “took responsibility for bringing together the best minds of conservatism, and his imprint on the
group’s mission is unmistakable: It provided a forum for religiously engaged conservative Christians to influence the geography of American political power.” Limited intelligence
suggests that this invitation-only society, which meets at thrice-yearly conventions, operates as an arm of the hard right, utilizing its secret meetings to plan its strategy for implementing the radical agenda. It is here, they say, that organizers and activists meet with the financial backers who put up the money to carry out their agenda.
One anecdotal example of the influence exerted by this underground conservative complex is the 1999 CNP meeting in San Antonio, which featured then-GOP presidential candidate George W. Bush as a keynote speaker. Reports on the gathering suggest that “Bush promised the CNP to implement its agenda and vowed to appoint only [pro-life] judges to the federal courts.” Soon afterwards, having secured the confidence of critical CNP members, Bush won the Republican Party nomination.

While they are correct in stating that Bush is “religiously-engaged”, to suggest that it was or is in any way justifiable to connect him to conservatives is a complete joke. Promising pro-life judges does not a conservative make.

The video would make great satire, though. It forces us to ask ourselves whether America would still be America without MediScare. It’s a very important question, as it gets to the very heart of the debate. Why did the Founders seek to keep the federal government out of such matters? The answer is in the current situation and what has happened as a result of disregarding that law. The people of this country screwed up royally in their choices at the ballot box, and now it is time to stand up and fix the problem.

Do I believe for one minute that they will? Of course not. It’s going to take more than long waits and death panels for Americans to get the message. You could read the Tenth Amendment to most people verbatim and they wouldn’t get it. I honestly do not know what it will take, but I do know that the right thing is for those who do get it to stand firm against those who don’t.

    That is what I do.

So I challenge everyone today to actually take the Agenda Project’s question seriously. Ask it without the sarcasm implied in their presentation.

    Is America beautiful without Medicare?

True conservatives know the answer. Constitutionalists don’t even have to think about it.

MarkD, you were half right. “You can keep your doctor if you can find one.” That’s the future of our health care system if we are forced to swallow ObamaCare.

This ad was deplorable in every respect, but it’s exactly the kind of hardball we can expect from now until November of 2012. The Democrats will be as wily, bitter and vindictive as they have and can be, because their end game is to win, not be liked, or respected.

Will our side fight back as diligently? I’m afraid (from past experience) that’s not in the cards and if that turns out to be true, the Republican Party will be dead for years to come, if not forever.
