SEIU Purple Army blunder of the day

By Michelle Malkin  •  May 24, 2011 09:58 AM

Never mind…

SEIU bosses got their members and local citizens in Hastings PA all worked up about an evil shale driller in their neighborhood. They organized a noisy picket, demanding that the driller pay more taxes and staging a theatrical tollbooth display in order to collect.

Only…there’s no shale drilling going on in their neighborhood. And there won’t be.

SEIU stands for Sorry, Error in Unionizing!

Oooooops:

When union workers and environmental activists picked a Hastings-area site to protest inaction on a Marcellus Shale severance tax, they made one mistake.

Marcellus activity isn’t occurring within miles of it.

Service Employees International Union officials issued an apology Monday, saying they mistakenly set up their protest Thursday – and a makeshift tollbooth asking the industry to pay its fair share – next to a surface well property that has been around for years and isn’t set up for shale drilling.

…The union, with environmental officials and area parents, set up protests at three western Pennsylvania sites Thursday to urge for the shale drilling industry to pay its fair share.

Bhaerman said local workers from an area nursing home told them about an apparent drilling site near Third Avenue, just outside of Hastings, and the union didn’t do enough homework on it.

A permit search Monday by the Mirror showed no Marcellus gas permits approved within several miles of the site.

Question: If hapless SEIU members collected sick pay while on protest duty, will they have to give it back now?

Question: If the drillers are evil, aren’t all the Pennsylvania-based companies that manufacture drilling equipment and employ untold numbers of Americans evil, too?

Of course! We must picket ALL of them! And they must all be fired! Isn’t it the goal to destroy the jobs and economy of this once great nation? So…Unions, do your duty and keep up the good work!

Just what I was thinking. Things like the drilling moratorium have really damaged the economy, and particularly union workers, because their companies are more vulnerable due to their higher operating costs.

I find it amazing that the regressives are so blind they can’t even see how destructive their agenda is. Every single liberal city in this nation is failing. The conservative-run cities are the successful ones. What part of that don’t they get? What is it that they think is so good about socialism? It doesn’t work. Never has. Never will.
