More misogyny at MSNBC: Neanderthal host attacks Laura Ingraham as a “slut;” Update: Schultz off air one week, apologizes

By Michelle Malkin  •  May 25, 2011 11:52 AM

In January, I published “The progressive ‘climate of hate:’ An illustrated primer, 2000-2010.”

Review it here.

Part IV was a section on anti-conservative female hate, with tons of links on the sexist rhetoric of the Left.

You’ll recall that the “M” in MSNBC stands for misogyny.

Here’s a new entrant in the race to the bottom, from syndicated radio host and MSNBC talk show host Ed Schultz, via Radio Equalizer Brian Maloney:

ED SCHULTZ (02:52): And what do the Republicans thinking about? They’re not thinking about their next-door neighbor. They’re just thinking about how much this is going to cost. President Obama is going to be visiting Joplin, Mo., on Sunday but you know what they’re talking about, like this right-wing slut, what’s her name?, Laura Ingraham? Yeah, she’s a talk slut. You see, she was, back in the day, praising President Reagan when he was drinking a beer overseas. But now that Obama’s doing it, they’re working him over.

Listen:

The rant is from Schultz’s radio show, which is syndicated by Dial Global.

MSNBC’s parent company is NBC. NBCUniversal runs a women’s corporate initiative – Women @ NBCUniversal – billed as a “powerful combination of media assets reaching women across multiple platforms. This content and marketing initiative creates custom solutions for advertisers to connect with this desirable demographic through NBCUniversal brands, including Oxygen, iVillage, Bravo, TODAY as well as other female-skewing NBCUniversal programs.”

People like Schultz don’t get it. They see successful conservatives on cable TV and talk radio who criticize liberal policies and double standards, and think, “Well I’ll give it right back to them.” But their idea of doing the same thing is to launch into ad hominem attacks. They see conservative criticism of their policies as “uncivil” “attacks.” Olbermann is the same way.

Kudos to MM for calling out the libs for their double standard.

You have to give it to Ed for one thing, though. His apology was a real one. He did not qualify it with “If I offended . . . ,” or other weasel language. He didn’t use the passive voice to linguistically hide the fact that he was wrongdoer. I could have done without the bit about “it doesn’t matter that I was ad libbing,” which comes close to making excuses. But all in all, an apology well done.

There were just a couple of people who said:

    and

“Please, right-wing pundits have done the same (citing specific examples).” (<–true, but a terrible argument…"Let's all be jerks!” Um, yeah, great idea.)

    From Aaron Worthing’s article:

Because what has happened with those on the hard left is that they have mixed up sex and politics in a way that is genuinely unhealthy. They hate their politics but they want their bodies, and that only makes them even angrier. So they imagine them being raped, or being a slut, or being a whore, because that makes it possible to imagine they might end up f__king them.

(Sorry to be that crude, but there is no other word that fits than “f__king.” It’s not making love. It’s not even having sex. It is far more animalistic than that.)

Arguably, “evil” rather than “animalistic” could be used; but, Mr Worthing is spot on.

As I’ve posted before: Money, sex and power are merely manifestations of the same thing: Power.
And, the opposite-worldview holders have consistently proven my thesis decade after decade.

Use of government force to overtax/parasitize society’s producers?
    Power = money = power.

    The Free “Love” movement?
Has nothing to do with love, and everything to do with sex. Sex = Power.

“Self-actualization” (whatever the hell that means)? “Freedom” to “Do your own thing”? = Power.

Ridicule/mocking of and attacks on Judeo-Christian morality/traditional values? = Power.

    Big-Nanny government? = Power.

Abortion on demand/consequences-free sex? Sex = power.

    Anti-Americanism? = Power.

Support of socialist/Communist/muslim savage, barbarian totalitarian individuals/groups/regimes/ideologies? = Power.

Disgusting verbal attacks, often with sexual (nothing to do with love) imagery by opposite worldview-holding statists/elitists/collectivists/socialists/fascists on conservative women? Power & Sex = Power.

Ridicule of the use of the term “disgusting” by the statists/socialists/elitists/etc. = Power.

“Wealth redistribution”/buying votes with tax dollars? Money = Power.

Sex “education”? Sex (nothing to do with love) = Power.

I’ve likely forgotten more than a few examples; but, you get the picture.

For the record, Stacey, I am as gay and as conservative as they come. And no, those descriptions are NOT mutually exclusive.

And fo what it’s worth, I don’t call myself a Republican (though I often tend to vote for them). I am a staunch conservative and somewhat libertarian. And if the GayLeftLib types like Bawney Fwank don’t like that, tough.

It will be us conservatives, not the HRC or Act-Up types, who will save the USA from things like socialism, Islamofascism and sharia creep. Why? Because we Gay Patriots know the truth, will fight for our freedoms and (in my case) can handle a Glock or .38 with ease.

    Regards,
    Peter H.

I’m strongly for gay rights, personally, though.

Doesn’t matter a whit to me. I don’t want to be married, and I believe in the 10th Amendment. So what’s your point?

The reason I am so “combatative” is that gushing over feelings is very different from intelligently discussing ideas.

When we start doing the former when we should really be excercising the latter, when we start treating ideas the way we should treat people, the result is cloudy muddleheaded thinking and moral equivalence that usually has as its end result the domination of people who are not compassionate in any sense of the word but are very clearheaded in their thinking.

However misguided that thinking is, it doesn’t bode well for those who disagree at that point.

    Be compassionate towards people.

Be ruthless, coldhearted and darwinian towards ideas.

That is the only way a republic can survive.

I could only manage to listen/watch about half of Ed’s ‘apology’. When he starts talking about how he lectured his sons about how to treat women, I buried the key board with my breakfast.
It was nothing but a CYA statement. He said it only ‘cuz he had to; it’s a pile of BS.

Hahahaha! Former. I’ve mostly taught poetry writing workshops, though.

Women are about twenty times more likely to use the phrase “I feel” than men do. for what that’s worth. (They are also more likely to add qualifiers: “this is just my opinion, but…” “I might be wrong, but…”) It’s just how people are socialized, I suppose.

I don’t think this is misogyny. Ed Schultz is a man with a lot of hate, but his hate is equal opportunity hate. :)

I think “slut” is just a generic insult for women, like “jerk” or “bastard” might be for men.

Just like calling a guy a name wouldn’t be misandrous. Let’s not go the way of the left and start doing that. Or if they insulted a black man on the right let’s not call them racist. We’re bigger than that.

Seriously. Given Special Ed’s comments and their little Hate f^%k list at Playboy, how are these leftists in the media much different in thinking than those who sexually assaulted Lara Logan?

Did some of them privately think the same of her?

The simple, complete, and correct answer is that they are no different.

I think you’re missing my point.

“This is just my opinion, but…”: fine.

“I might be wrong, but…”: no quarrel.

I’ll even add a few of my own. “It seems to me”, “I have found”, “It makes sense to me”, etc.

But I don’t “feel” that 2+2=4. I know it. I don’t “feel” that the Sun uses nuclear fusion (possibly assisted by carbon catalysm). I have seen evidence that it does. And I don’t “feel” that Capitalism results in generally happier people than Communism or Socialism, I have seen countless instances that prove it.

Your former students have my heartfelt sympathy.
