Sarah Palin’s All-American Road Trip

By Michelle Malkin  •  May 26, 2011 02:13 PM

What a great combination: Sarah Palin and Rolling Thunder. Memorial Day in Washington, D.C. sounds like it will be a blast. The event is the kick-off for a cross-country bus tour. The Palin family will hit the northeastern corridor first, on a route that will take them to “historical sites that were key to the formation, survival, and growth of the United States of America.” (As readers know, I LOVE me some all-American summer road trips.)

Hope Gov. Palin makes it out here to the Rocky Mountain West, where pioneer women homesteaders blazed trails Mama Grizzly-style.

RCP has details:

“Starting this weekend, Sarah Palin will embark on a ‘One Nation’ tour of historical sites that were key to the formation, survival, and growth of the United States of America,” SarahPAC treasurer Tim Crawford said in a statement to RealClearPolitics. “The tour will originate in Washington, D.C. It will proceed north up the east coast.”

Details were still being hammered out on Thursday, but sources indicated to RCP that the bus tour is expected to last several weeks and will be divided up into separate geographical stretches for logistical reasons.

…According to aides who have traveled with her on past campaigns, Palin loathes fundraisers and many of the other necessities of life on the trail, but she relishes opportunities to interact with voters face-to-face. Palin’s retail politicking skills were indeed a key factor in her political rise in Alaska.

In spite of the celebrity profile that she has embraced since 2008, the unorthodox nature of the bus tour indicates that Palin recognizes that she would have to run a grassroots campaign that dusts off some of her shine, in order to highlight her blue-collar persona.

Palin will do just that on the first day of her tour on Sunday when she participates in Rolling Thunder-an annual Memorial Day weekend motorcycle rally held in Washington, D.C. Participants at this year’s event will gather outside the Pentagon before parading down Constitution Avenue on their way to the National Mall near the Lincoln Memorial.

Roll on!

Having the wrong attitude towards our sovereignty is even less fixable than promoting AGW theory or RomneyCare.

    vs

I have a question. Actually two questions.

Is the Republican primary process designed to land on a candidate quickly? I don’t know the differences in how the two parties’ primaries are set up, but it seemed like the Republicans landed on McCain immediately in ’08, while the Clinton/Obama face-off went on forever.

If the answer to that question is yes…do you think it helps or hurts the conservative cause to land on a candidate fairly quickly? It seems to me that a quicker process favors a very moderate candidate…is that right?

Wait, that was three questions. :)

When it comes to Palin, ignore the ‘experts’

Should she run, Palin will be unconventional — like a guerrilla insurgent fighting against the Redcoats. The experts can point to the number of soldiers against her, the training and weapons they have at their disposal, their nice uniforms, etc. — but the problem is they all march in a line. They are fighting an old-style fight. Palin believes the world has changed — that the old rules no longer matter. She may be right or wrong, but either way, the fact that she’s not checking off the traditional boxes shouldn’t be cited as evidence that she isn’t running.

By the way, sometimes an unpredictable opponent is the most dangerous. There’s a great scene in the movie “Bull Durham” where baseball catcher “Crash” Davis (played by Kevin Costner) tells dangerously-wild pitcher “Nuke” LaLoosh (Tim Robbins) to intentionally hit the team’s mascot with a pitch. (This, of course, serves to make opposing hitters believe Laloosh is either crazy — or cannot control his very fast pitches) Costner then looks at the batter and says: “I wouldn’t dig in if I was you. Next one might be at your head. I don’t know where it’s gonna go. Swear to God.”

That’s probably good advice for Palin’s rivals and the so-called experts who think they are so sure she’s not going to run. (I don’t know what she’s going to do. Swear to God.)

Exactly. With a record of what he’s done.

He’s even trying to put a shine on the auto-bailout. Only one failure, at the tax payers expense.

This is simply more smoke and mirrors from the “Smoke and Mirrors” administration, now engaged in pre-election image burnishing. In fact, the payback (someone call Debbie Wasserman Shultz) involves allowing a foreign auto company to take more control of Chrysler and then tossing a loan for 3.5 billion from government on top of the Fiat purchase of Chrysler stock at a reduced price.
They want you to believe this signals a stronger and profitable Chrysler. In fact, it is a pathetic attempt to fool the public.

Of course we disagree on the best candidate; my question was only how things will be perceived by the general public. As I say, of course I don’t know for sure.

Right. The general public is spoon fed BS by Pravda.
Palin has to run against the dems, the estab. repubs. (rinos) and Pravda. (she kicked the estab. repubs. @ss in Alaska) If I were Palin, I think I would pass on the angst. She’s a better women than me.
If you read #240 above, it explains some of this to you.

As Flyoverman said, she’s not a fraud and serial liar.

How do y’all think Michelle Bachmann compares to Sarah Palin? I ask because I think people will compare them a lot, since they’re both women and both seem very appealing to Tea Partiers.

Giuliani is a hardcore one-world-without-borders globalist. Bracewell-Giuliani has been at the forefront of fighting for open borders and amnesty. The only reason Giuliani is running is as a spoiler for the GOP RINO candidate with only one assignment: take down Palin.

When he was asked last November on the day after the elections if he would run, he stated that he is thinking about it but would wait to see what Palin does. He was also very condescending about the Tea Party movement.
