‘Golf Summit’ Saturday

By Doug Powers  •  June 18, 2011 12:08 PM

**Written by Doug Powers

President Obama, Sheriff Joe Biden, John Boehner and John Kasich hit the links this morning. What does this mean for America (other than in the unlikely event a meteor were to strike the course, Daniel Inouye would be president)? I have no idea:

The long-awaited golf showdown between President Obama and House Speaker John Boehner is underway this morning: The pair, along with with Vice President Joe Biden and GOP Ohio Gov. John Kasich, hit the links around 10 a.m. Saturday at Joint Base Andrews.

It’s a skins game — unfortunately the skin is ours:

SAO PAULO (Reuters) – The International Monetary Fund cut its forecast for U.S. economic growth on Friday and warned Washington and debt-ridden European countries that they are “playing with fire” unless they take immediate steps to reduce their budget deficits.

Fore!

Update: More on the round here.

    The Golf Summit
    By Kyle-Anne Shiver

Well, dear readers, this is certainly embarrassing.

The man who catapulted — with one teleprompter under each arm — into the Oval Office, vowing hope in big-government could actually — this time! — be made to bear tasty fruit, has made every single thing he has touched with his adolescent finger worse, worse, worse. The president who vowed to “fundamentally transform America” never mentioned on the campaign trail that the “change” he was imagining would impoverish Americans, while making us the economic slaves of the rest of the world. Nor do I recall candidate Barry letting the public know that he was so addicted to golf that he wouldn’t forsake another 18 for presidential Memorial Day observance — even as he commands three foreign wars, one of them blatantly illegal.

So, as middle-class Americans worry themselves sick with economic stress and uncertainty in this simply grand Barry economy, our adolescent President hits the links with our Speaker of the House.

Now, I’ve read that the Beltway Boys have invited the governor of Ohio, John Kasich, to join them for their jolly golf summit.

And really, truly, I cannot decide whether to grab the smelling salts, my hanky or another bottle from my dwindling supply of Pepto Bismol.

Are these supposedly grown-up men even aware of their symbolic infantilization of this country’s genuine plight? From where I’m sitting — in Barry-induced middle-class homemaker hell — the “golf summit” reeks of good-ole-boys playing while their civilization faces destruction.

And I’m wondering why these “leaders” don’t even have the sense to know this.

Golfing while America burns? Oh, what an impressive leap into progressive utopia.

At this moment I would pay really big money for a little *red pill* guaranteed to knock me out until election day 2012. This spectacle is becoming too torturous to endure while sober.

Campaign to reelect Barry underway: Swing state Missouri Governor vetoes voter ID requirement

Pardon me, Governor Jay Nixon, but your liberal slip is showing.

Nixon vetoed a measure passed by the Missouri legislature requiring voters to provide ID at the polls.

Not included in the provisions were illegal alien voters, dead people, felons in jail or Mickey Mouse. And liberals can’t exclude their favorite voting demographics!

He and other Democrats know Barry’s reelection (and their own political futures) are at risk.

    What a sham:

In Missouri, voters are already required to provide some form of ID before casting a ballot, but the list includes some without a photo, such as a utility bill, bank statement or paycheck.

All of which can be passed out by ACORN workers to “voters” in need.

A coalition of groups — including the NAACP, AARP, League of Women Voters and ACLU — had called for Nixon to veto photo ID legislation.

Even the poorest among us already have some form of photo ID and the only excuse for not requiring it, is to allow voter fraud.

The GOP leaders needs to get a grip and quit viewing the dems as rational and courteous, neither of which the dems are.

Yep…it’s all fun and games in Washington. Status quo. Too bad the American people can just play through…

The President is giving just enough effort to play for par, but like his economic policies, he keeps slicing the ball, ultimately landing in the rough. Okay, we gave him a mulligan, but then he hits into a sand trap. Three strokes later, he demands a drop, gets it, but the ball rolls back into the sand.

And, so it goes. Week after week, game after game, the results are the same. He blames his partners for his failure to get a decent score…or, the damned Bush that obscured his vision of the pin.

Trap shooting might be a better sport for him to try. I hear the Dick Cheney is willing to give him a shot…..
