Blagojevich Found Guilty on 17 of 20 Counts

So it’s settled: Quoting Elvis before your verdict is announced won’t ward off a conviction:

CHICAGO (AP) — A jury convicted former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich on Monday of nearly all the corruption charges against him, including that he tried to sell or trade President Barack Obama’s old Senate seat.

Blagojevich had faced 20 charges, including the Senate seat allegation and that he schemed to shake down executives for campaign donations. He was convicted on all charges regarding the Senate seat.

Jurors delivered their verdicts Monday after deliberating nine days.

Blagojevich had testified for seven days, denying wrongdoing. Prosecutors said he lied and the proof was on FBI wiretaps. Those included a widely parodied clip in which Blagojevich calls the Senate opportunity “f—— golden.”

Blago will be the fourth Illinois governor to go to prison (also known as the “secure wing of the Governor’s Mansion”) since 1973. He might be weird, but he does not like to break tradition.

You are so disengenious it is sad. So it is ok with you to dig through the lives of 23 foster kids (I would call that investigating as in investigative reporting), but no need to look into Obama’s past associations at all.

I’m disengenious? You’re the one quoting some no-name blog poster on Fox Nation as the words Stephanopoulos used. How about you use the quotes from the story. Oh, that doesn’t support your narrative? Nevermind.

You’re right, the media never covered Obama’s past associations. I never knew about Reverend Wright or Ayers or Rezko or any of those people. Crazy. Wait, they were covered. Those associations just didn’t stop enough people for voting for Obama.

So you are saying that Stephanopoulos is not insinuiting that her foster children will not be investigated when he says that their privacy will be gone. So what you are saying that the media are going to be peeping toms? Get real, they are going to try to dig up dirt on her foster kids to try to destroy her, much the same way they poured over the Palin emails in a way to try to find dirt or the hundreds of reporters who descended on Alaska while ignoring Obama’s ties.

Oh and when they looked at Rev Wright, Ayers, and Rezko they took Obama’s explanation that he sat in the pews for 20 years but never really heard what Wright said, Ayers was just some guy in the neighborhood, and Rezko was just some guy he had dealt with for real estate. They bought it and moved on. You know, whether you will admit it or not, that if it had been a Republican with all those ties they would have been front page stories for weeks.

I am so sick and tired of liberals like you trying to gloss over Obama’s past and his current indiscretions, while making excuses for going after Conservatives with a vengenace.

There is a difference between gaffes and misstating facts. Her belief of the cost of Obama’s India trip ‘based off of internet reports’ or her claim that Nato operations killed 30,000 civilians is not a slip up of fact. It’s a gross and willful ignorance of the facts.

The media played their hand with Palin. Bachmann watched the whole thing and had time to prepare for it. Bachmann has the advantage of having a a more public track record, whereas Palin’s record was less well known and could be trounced better. What does the media hope to gain by going after a politician’s kids? I think the media should tread very carefully here. It is the job of the media to “vet” candidates and not rip them to shreds so a lesser candidate can squeek by without being vetted. bho should be very afraid at this point. Bachmann is well positioned to do some surprising things. The country elected bho to prove that the public would vote for a black for POTUS and now the country may well elect a woman to clean up the mess created by decades of corruption.

There will be media requests for interviews. There may be pictures taken. They may want to know, as an adults, the impact Michelle Bachmann had as a foster parent on one’s life. Who knows, if she becomes the nominee the secret service will be utilized to provide security.

Questions will be asked. SURPRISE, the media is interested in your family! If you can’t run a family, how can you run a country? However, investigations, not so much.

I have a question about the farm subsidies Bachmann’s farm received. Any takers on explaining why she’s taking big government subsidies?

Children should be off limits. While the Obama children were off limits, they lost privacy! It’s what happens when your parent is a contender for President. Beating a dead horse here, but loss of privacy does not mean investigate.

The secondary question, which I can’t seem to find information on, is the age of the foster ‘kids’. Are some adults? If so, they can speak to the media if they desire.

Gee that sounds like they are going to investigate to me. Here is the definition of investigate:

    in·ves·ti·gate (n-vst-gt)
    v. in·ves·ti·gat·ed, in·ves·ti·gat·ing, in·ves·ti·gates
    v.tr.

Nothing need be ‘squared’. John Stossel has covered this topic extensively. So… you’re 1099, ‘right’? Do YOU file a Schedule C? Or do you forego all your -authorized- and legitimate business EXPENSES..?

F-1 Filing Status has been around since Buffalo Springfield made steam powered tractors. Don’t buy everything the Prog agenda feeds you. On second thought, I -agree- w/ you. One ‘should’ enter into a business w/ no clue as to what their tax planning/position might be? Makes it more challenging!

You mean like the fact that ATM’s have taken a lot of jobs from Americans or that its wise for Israel to return to pre 1967 borders that are indefensible?

Yeah, one gaffe or misstatement of facts and liberals disqualify you from being President. Uh, unless you are a liberal, then they don’t care. So its really they just don’t agree with her politically. Why can’t they just say so? Why do they have to make up the lies and distort the truth? Afraid the truth may get out there and hurt the cause. Well the truth hurts sometimes. Too bad for you the truth gets out there.

Why does there need to be an explanation? Anyone want to explain why anyones takes their personal deduction and standard exemption on their tax return?

Another strawman to deflect from the truth which is that Michelle Bachmann is every bit as qualified to be President as Obama was. Yeah, just deal with it.
