Joe Biden Warns Teamsters: Vote Dem or ‘You’re on Your Own, Jack’

By Doug Powers  •  July 2, 2011 07:33 PM

**Written by Doug Powers

A threat this empty hasn’t been uttered since Captain Hazelwood told Exxon, “Don’t even think about blaming this on me or you’ll have to find somebody else to drive your tankers!”

Fox News:

Vice President Joe Biden acknowledged it wasn’t a political event, but it still didn’t prevent him from sending this warning to Teamsters union members during his address at their annual convention in Las Vegas this past Friday.

“And don’t any of you, by the way, any of you guys vote Republican,” Biden said. “I’m not supposed to say, this isn’t political. …don’t come to me if you do! You’re on your own, Jack!”

Do you think the White House getting a little nervous that another Teamsters flip to a GOP endorsement could be on the dismal economic horizon the way it happened with Reagan?

“You’re on your own.” No help from Joe Biden? What a frightening prospect. Given a choice between being “helped” by Joe Biden or being on my own, I’d choose “on my own” 99.99% of the time (the .01% would be if I needed a skilled partner for a water gun fight or directions to the nearest one-and-a-half-star hair transplant clinic).

The Teamsters meeting was held in Las Vegas, the city where, just last year, President Obama said people shouldn’t “blow a bunch of cash” during times of economic belt tightening. If the Teamsters aren’t listening to Obama, what are the chances that they’re paying attention to anything Joe Biden says?

One thing’s for sure, they will never report the above Biden quote in the same article with the following quote from Obama’s victory speech:

I was a 16 year old high school student when the Russians put up the Sputnik Satellite. It was obvious that our arch enemy had made a great leap forward, and that we would be in danger if we did not master this technology and surpass the Russkis in space. This was a national survival mission–not a space exploration mission.
    ***
Some NASA engineers came to our school to get more students to take scientific careers. I was already in that group. And the early NASA was a risk taking group that developed new technology and made it work in a very short time frame. It was largely staffed by very competent engineers–I worked with some of them later in my career with a defense contractor. There weren’t a lot of bureaucrats in the early NASA.
    ***
Some tragic mistakes were made, but in 10 years we did go to the moon. But NASA changed into a political organization over the years. Many more bureaucrats took over and overrode good engineering decisions. Fixing problems took a back seat to “greenie” agendas, and making the artificial schedules resulted in loss of life in the Challenger O ring disaster.
    ***
The cement used to keep the liquid hydrogen and oxygen tank insulation in place was changed to a more “environmentally friendly” glue that failed and resulted in heat shield tile damage that resulted in another shuttle loss–Colombia?–over Texas. A bad decision that killed the astronauts.
    ***
And now Comrade Obama thinks that NASA should be doing outreach to Muslims! What in the H**L does this have to do with advancing our technology or defending our nation? The real space exploration jobs have been taken over by remotely controlled unmanned vehicles that have gone much farther than any manned mission could. The unmanned missions to the outer planets and beyond and the Hubble Space Telescope are the real scientific payback NASA missions now.
    ***
I think the days of manned space exploration are over. If so, the space shuttles are no longer needed. And the organization should be shut down if our only payback is to make Muslims feel good about themselves.
