Hey, President Obama: Where have all the civility police gone?; Update: Signed, sealed, delivered

Words. Just words.
Yesterday, Democrat Rep. Gabrielle Giffords returned to the House floor for the first time since the horrific January 8, 2011 Tucson massacre.
She received a warm, bipartisan, prolonged standing ovation. It was a nice moment.
But also a surreal one.
As you’ll recall, within minutes of the shooting, Tea Party-bashing, Palin-bashing recriminations and accusations clogged the Internet and airwaves.
As you’ll recall, liberals blamed everything from cross-hairs to the phrase “job-killing” to the perennial bogeyman “talk radio” for a lone loon’s homicidal spree.
As you’ll recall, President Obama brought his campaign to Tucson and gave a national sermon about the need for civility. We’re One America. Together We Thrive. And all that:
But at a time when our discourse has become so sharply polarized – at a time when we are far too eager to lay the blame for all that ails the world at the feet of those who think differently than we do – it’s important for us to pause for a moment and make sure that we are talking with each other in a way that heals, not a way that wounds.
Scripture tells us that there is evil in the world, and that terrible things happen for reasons that defy human understanding. In the words of Job, “when I looked for light, then came darkness.” Bad things happen, and we must guard against simple explanations in the aftermath.
For the truth is that none of us can know exactly what triggered this vicious attack. None of us can know with any certainty what might have stopped those shots from being fired, or what thoughts lurked in the inner recesses of a violent man’s mind.
So yes, we must examine all the facts behind this tragedy. We cannot and will not be passive in the face of such violence. We should be willing to challenge old assumptions in order to lessen the prospects of violence in the future.
But what we can’t do is use this tragedy as one more occasion to turn on one another. As we discuss these issues, let each of us do so with a good dose of humility. Rather than pointing fingers or assigning blame, let us use this occasion to expand our moral imaginations, to listen to each other more carefully, to sharpen our instincts for empathy, and remind ourselves of all the ways our hopes and dreams are bound together.
But over the course of the debt-limit negotiations, the preponderance of unhinged, blame-assigning, violent image-invoking rhetoric has come from the White House and its allies — from the president himself accusing Republicans of holding a gun to the head of the American people, to Steny Hoyer using Russian roulette imagery, to the latest outbreak of Tea Party = suicide bombers, fraggers, jihad, and terrorists.
At 12:15pm Eastern, after the Senate finishes voting, President Obama is scheduled to give a statement in the Rose Garden on the debt deal.
I will remember his words from January. Will he?
If this tragedy prompts reflection and debate, as it should, let’s make sure it’s worthy of those we have lost.
Let’s make sure it’s not on the usual plane of politics and point-scoring and pettiness that drifts away in the next news cycle.
The loss of these wonderful people should make every one of us strive to be better, to be better in our private lives, to be better friends and neighbors and co-workers and parents.
And if, as has been discussed in recent days, their death helps usher in more civility in our public discourse, let us remember it is not because a simple lack of civility caused this tragedy — it did not — but rather because only a more civil and honest public discourse can help us face up to the challenges of our nation in a way that would make them proud.
We should be civil because we want to live up to the example of public servants like John Roll and Gabby Giffords, who knew first and foremost that we are all Americans, and that we can question each other’s ideas without questioning each other’s love of country, and that our task, working together, is to constantly widen the circle of our concern so that we bequeath the American dream to future generations.
They believe — they believe and I believe that we can be better. Those who died here, those who saved lives here, they help me believe. We may not be able to stop all evil in the world, but I know that how we treat one another, that’s entirely up to us.
And I believe that, for all our imperfections, we are full of decency and goodness and that the forces that divide us are not as strong as those that unite us.
That’s what I believe, in part because that’s what a child like Christina-Taylor Green believed.
Imagine — can you imagine for a moment, here was a young girl who was just becoming aware of our democracy, just beginning to understand the obligations of citizenship, just starting to glimpse the fact that someday she, too, might play a part in shaping her nation’s future.
She had been elected to her student council. She saw public service as something exciting and hopeful. She was off to meet her congresswoman, someone she was sure was good and important and might be a role model. She saw all this through the eyes of a child, undimmed by the cynicism or vitriol that we adults all too often just take for granted.
I want us to live up to her expectations.
I want our democracy to be as good as Christina imagined it. I want America to be as good as she imagined it. All of us, we should do everything we can to make sure this country lives up to our children’s expectations.

More:
Jonah Goldberg has had enough.
From comments, MChristian writes: “Yesterday on Ace of Spades, I saw the newly coined word, Tearrorist. I like it and I’m going to start using it.”
Townhall’s Guy Benson notes that no less than four New York Times columnists have attacked conservatives and Tea Party activists as terrorists over the past week.
***
Update: The Senate passed the debt limit increase deal. Obama took to the Rose Garden immediately after to exult about new “investments.” The White House announced at approx. 2:05pm Eastern that the deal had been signed into law by the president himself.
The Autopen is apparently on vacay, along with the Democrat civility police.

Isn’t that something? To be fair SW & Conservmom, I was 1 of 5 and the rest of my siblings are conservative and fair minded. So for our parents, having only [1] adult child circling the drain of prog kool-aid is a pretty good batting avg?
I think the way to combat this going forward is to tell them straight to their face, “We’ll respect your political ‘views’ if YOU’LL respect our FB pages are for family & fun, fair enough?“
Incredulous. He hit it right on the head with that one.
We will if it’s true. It’s only leftists that circle the wagons for their own. Rangel, Weiner, etc.
But give us one reason why we should believe you.
Well the house did do on thing good before they left for their numerous vacations from dc. They put a stop on bho from making recess appointments?

Keep playing the race card, dimwit. It’s proof that you have nothing.
Recently, we had a debate here on whether or not to ban you. I argued against it citing your entertainment value. I officially change my vote. You are a danger to this great nation, therefore not amusing.
Don’t go away mad, just go away. Mindless drone.
And then this little tid bit: Still think that we are represented?
“No suspense there. But the vote will be worth watching for another reason: Three Republican Senate sources tell TWS that senators who vote against the deal will be ineligible to serve on the so-called “supercommittee” for deficit reduction that the legislation creates.”
In other words, those that are against spending any more money we don’t have and look to cut spending rather than raising taxes need not apply.
Trying to get my in-laws to register to vote. Told them if you don’t vote- you don’t count. It is not enough to sit and complain. Be one of wave that is going to hit in 2012. My husband I go at it- he thinks they are all corrupt and he is right for the most part but when he gets all hot and bothered (another one telling me I’m ridiculous),I ask “Are you registered to vote? NO? Then what you think doesn’t matter.” I truly believe that. Vote or shut up.
The DC elites don’t care about real islamic terrorists because the target is the American public. We’re disposable. The Tea Party pushing for fiscal responsibility, which is a threat to the elites, who refuse to be disposable. We need to get rid of bho, Boenher and Reid. They colluded to give us this recent mess. We knew bho and Reid were enemies and we knew Boehner wasn’t up for the job. They all confirmed expectations. The GOP can’t have a sellout as speaker or majority leader.
I think Facebook will have a lot to do with fomenting civil war in this country, as we find out that more and more of our “friends” really hate us. This will not end well.
You wouldn’t know this, of course, but the term “tar baby” was not originally a racist term. In fact, it was the regressives who have made it racist. Not suprising, since they also think that “black hole” and “niggardly” are also racist. Duh.

Mitch McConnell denied that. If that is the case then we are screwed. But some repub talking heads are saying that even the dems won’t want to be seen raising taxes in an election year. I don’t get the logic though-that is what their base wants (though according to the poll, self-proclaimed ‘liberals’ are only 21 percent of the country).
Hey two-faced, lying dim-bulb Harry–Don’t spending CUTS mean you need LESS money rather than MORE money and you don’t need to RAISE taxes? Ohhhhh, but you so want to!!
You guys and spending are like the scorpion who desperately begged the frog to give him a ride across the river but just couldn’t resist stinging him (causing them both to drown) cuz you can’t deny what’s in your nature: spending, taxing, spending, taxing–and now you’re going to spend and tax us all into oblivion.
Hey, dumbpubs, paying attention now? And are you going to hold the line on NO new TAXES?
Harry REIDICULOUS MUST GO!!!!!!!
I saw that too. Bernie has a little thing we like to call ‘moral clarity’.
Guess I’ll have to start packing iron. Where to “conceal” it is definitely a problem!! I could pretend I’m pregnant and wear one of those baby bumps. Oh, never mind.
Now that we have moved past the entrenched criminal class of elected weasels who proved incapable of doing the right thing in the face of the K Street globalist lobbying money, get ready for the Super K Street Lobbyists! They are already here and getting ready to lobby Super Committee to help them figure out how to “cut spending”.
I wonder how much this factored into Alan West’s sell-out?

I don’t know why there is even a debate. He/She does NOTHING but snark and snide each time. Absolutely nothing substantive or thoughtful ever crosses his/her lips here. I have never figured out why so many conservative sites tolerate this when sites on the Left NEVER do. If you have something to say that’s intelligent–go for it. But when a person obviously sits there thinking, “Hmm…how can I disagree with what’s being said today?” why do we put up with that? As I have said for years now, their game is to deny, deflect, defend.
We have enough trouble with this country and the “ruling class” to also have to put up with this drivel on sites devoted to conservative principles.
To be clear, I’m not talking about banning all Liberals–just the plainly foolish and pointless posters like ILMC.
And as for the lame race card taunt (usually pursued by RSS) about the “black skin president,” how does that explain the opposition to BHO by blacks like me? Like Thomas Sowell? Shelby Steele? Michael Steele (I’m sure also by Clarence Thomas)? Larry Elder? Star Parker? and on, and on…
You beat me to it happy and you are exactly right. It appears that once again the only racist in the room is the liberal who sees race in everything. Ilovemyracism has forgotten the words of Dr. Martin Luther King in which he said, and I am paraphrasing, judge not a man by the color of his skin, but by the content of his character.
Obama’s character is bankrupt and has been for a very long time.
Major, I love you! And I love the color of your skin! Some say that I am a racist because I despise Obama. Hmmm…something doesn’t compute. By the way, I can get dark skin only in my dreams. I burn just walking out the door!
…the tar baby is a doll covered with tar. Brer Rabbit comes by and speaks to it, but the tar baby doesn’t answer; Brer Rabbit gets angry and hits the tar baby, and sticks to it. The more Brer Rabbit struggles to get free, the tighter he sticks to the tar baby. The term in use, by Richard T. Cooper in the ‘Los Angeles Times,’ April 21, 1996: ‘Far from bestriding the Washington scene like a master or painting Clinton into corners, Dole last week looked a lot like the rabbit who wrestled with the tar baby.’.” From “Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary of Allusions” by Elizabeth Webber and Mike Feinsilber (Merriam-Webster, Springfield, Mass., 1999).
The tar baby is a form of a character widespread in African folklore. In various folktales, gum, wax, or other sticky material is used to trap a person.
There is more. Bing it.
Meanwhile, prepare for the Sequel:
Anal Rape II: the Quest for “Tax Reform”.
Obama and the leftists are going to take the lead in the “tax reform” debate, which will allow them to define our terms and thereby define the goals.
Their goals, of course, are not those of making the tax code just, or even more simple, reducing taxation, or limiting government spending. No, their goals will be making it more difficult for their most hated “classes” to avoid any tax the gov’t wishes to impose upon them, while using the “reformed” tax code to funnel money to unions and other parasites which make up their base.
And it looks like the GOP leadership is considering punishing the Tea Party Conservatives by ensuring that they do not get onto these super committees…what a surprise.

Spending half a DAY wallowing around the periphery of the matter at hand in favor of some lame, inconsequential troll-driven ‘argument’ isn’t why Michelle set up and maintains the comments section. IMHO.
The deal has been signed and the market is tanking…Makes you wonder if the DC elite are scratching their collective heads wondering why this is happening…then again they probably could care less.
Obama is crowing about new ‘investments’? Is he not accountable for the money he now bankrupted us with? If I hear any more about a friggin’ rail line I am going to scream so loud it will create a sonic boom. The only investments Obama knows how to spend money are, are union bullshit and his reelection fund. DeMint should DEMAND that Obama list every expenditure now that he got his money. The American people are paying the bill-let us see what we paid for!
to Michelle Malkin and Doug Powers…
I DO want Ilovemycountry to be banned. He has NEVER added ANYTHING to this blog. All he does is ridicule, slander, tell lies, and try to get us derailed. Unfortunately, a lot of time he succeeds. Any troll that has not contributed in any way to the conversation after having posting priveleges for years, should be gone. PLEASE.
Obama is salivating. Sounds like he wants Congress to come back from their break and get some of his agenda passed that has been languishing. Well, he now has trillions more to spend on screwing this country. He knows it. And he was gloating today. Another stimulus? Count on it. And worse.
The economic destruction of our country will be complete long before the next election.
Congress should write a law making it illegal for person, group or corporation to be exempt from any law that Congress makes. If the law is good enough for most of us, it should be good for all of us.
Any of us who did not get an Obamacare waiver should sue under the ‘equal protection’ clause. Our insurance went up at least double, what we have to pay out, this year alone and unions and Nancy pelosi’s district got waivers. That is NOT equal protection under the law.
I have been reading some analysis and lots of comments and the consensus of opinion is:
Dust off those News Reels of Welcome Back Carter because Carter years here we come.
It’s frustrating because I get it from both ends. You get the racists on the Left who only use the race card as a taunt to conservatives but who spit their racist venom at any “people of color” who don’t toe the line (witness Michelle’s Hate Mail posts).
Then you have the conservative folks on occasion (even on this site…sigh) who make weird comments like their votes are being canceled out by people wearing “Doo rags”.
For me, it’s all about ideas and principles, not my skin color.

There’s no telling how I might respond when I confronted with the reality that my intelligence could now be compared to an unripe pea. (No offense, Whirled.) Quite simply, when one is reminded every time one turns on the news that you’re IQ couldn’t be measured with a micrometer, it can be a pretty tough truth to deal with. Alas, our resident troll-in-need(of brains) is dealing with it the only way he can — find something on huffington-puffington post to get mad about then run in the living room and yell at the adults.
We should pity him, not ban him.

Wonderful, his credit card gets a massive boost and BO comes out declaring we need to max it out as fast as possible.
This is why we wanted the Repubs to Hold The Line and say No. The Boy-in-Chief needed to have his hands slapped and the credit card taken away.
Infrastructure, blow more for jobs, yah right…here comes the call for “Stimulus part x” and QE3.
Side note for those who may not know. In 2002, the exchange rate between the USA dollar and the Philippine peso was 1:52. Now the dollar is only worth 39 pesos per dollar.
QE3 and more debt (likely both acquired by printing out more monopoly money) will only help a third-world island nation become equal with the USA.
No wonder the international community thinks the USA is nuts. We do everything in the most suicidal way.
Financial Markets respond to Boehnor/Reid super deal, freefall 180 point within minuets.
Major…I have seen those comments. I do think, however, that people who say things like that are frustrated with those who vote for Obama because he is black and they are also black. It is so tempting to make a slur on those folks when we know their vote is going to someone based on race. That is also the reason why we break into “ghetto talk” sometimes. It is a dig against the masses who blindly vote for someone based on the color of their skin and what they can get for free. I don’t believe anyone means for those comments to be racist slurs. I could be wrong. Or I could just be making an excuse. You be the judge.
Brought to you by John Boehner, Eric Cantor, Mitch McConnell, Allen West, Paul Ryan, John McCain, etc. etc. etc.
Primary every single one of them.
Assuming there actually will be a next election. I’m beginning to have my doubts.
And the Slinking Sock Puppet — True to Form, signs the debt deal in Secret
I say again, signs the debt Deal in Secret!! What is it about this person and tha majority in Government that have made the “In Secret, behind closed doors” the method of operation??
Speaking of Congressional breaks…I bet many of these Congress critters are going to get an earful from their constiuents once again this year at the town hall meetings.
How much you want to bet many of these Congress critters are going to avoid having TH events if at all possible.
Wall Street isn’t buying it. Market’s down 150 right now, gold is hitting a new high every 15 minutes it seems.
Everybody, repeat after me – “It would have been worse it we had done nothing. We saved the country….no – we saved the world!!!”
At the moment, gold is at an all-time high. People vote with their wallets too.

You forgot my all time favorite: Joy Behar declaring that “Black Friday” was racist.
He signed it himself because he is certain it is the Final Nail, and wanted the pleasure of driving it in himself.

Re: Ilovemyflatulence
FWIW, I say let him/her/it stay. The only argument a libwit has is irrational swill, and others who read the discourse can see which side has a reasoned, plausible approach / vs which are gutter snipe. I say let the idiots drivel away. You can always scroll on by and not feed them as well.
Major O, IMHO you rock! You can drive these lib logical falicies into the ground in a heart beat – and make them shove their race card into a place where the sun don’t shine.
I’m happy to see Mark Twain’s quote brought up. Since the race comment was made.
In defense of Mark Twain, as if he needs my help.In Huck Finn the use of the n word was counted at 219 times by someone, to prove Twain was a racist. The smartest person in ‘The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn’ was the slave Jim.
Just as ILMC doesn’t get why folks here don’t like Obama is the same reason they don’t get Huck Finn.
*It is quite laughable to hear any of the rat bastard politicos in DC, and some of the pundits, like Laura Ingaham, exclaim that a crisis has been averted; The signing of this bill, extending our debt another 10T, is economic suicide; It may not be any consolation, but time will prove Michele Bachmann, Jim DeMint, and the others correct, that we have just exacerbated the underlying problem, and possibly closed the door on recovery; I hope and pray otherwise, and will now get down to the business of getting more Tea Party candidates elected in 2012, flip the Senate, and get the enemy within out of the White House!
Obama saved the economy with Tarp. Wow, How many jobs did he save? We would no longer have been the US. It would have been complete disaster but Obama saved us.
Now he has saved us from a debt so bad we could not have survived. Incredible how he has saved us twice now from complete and total disaster.
He is the… Savior.
What a pantload. He is a legend in his own mind.

“What I can pretty certainly say to the American people, the chances of any kind of tax increase passing with this, with the appointees of John Boehner and I, are going to put in there are pretty low,” said McConnell. He added: “I’m comfortable we aren’t going to raise taxes coming out of this joint committee.”

a situation, problem, or the like, that is almost impossible to solve or to break away from.
Context, ILMC, context and proper English language. You can learn it too.
Pretty sure is a lot different than 100% sure. No they are going to vote to raise taxes, they just are not going to vote to extend tax cuts…..

Been the case for years. And he’s believing he’s completely unstoppable! Anything he wants he’s going to get. He even might not let such an insignificant thing as an election in Nov ’12 get in his way. He may be brazen enough to find a means of thwarting it.
OK McConnell so who are you and Boehner going to appoint?
Personally, I don’t believe those debts/tabs will be run up to their fullest extent any more than I believe ObamaCare will evah be fully implemented?
This was more about saving the government as we know it than the country/world/etc.
As I mentioned yesterday, Allowing.States.To.Fail is the real key here. Unsustainable is unsustainable… This is what will ultimately happen.

Don’t know if anyone is interested but this morning here in England on Sky News they interviewed a woman from Time Magazine, Katherine ? forget last name, who told Sky that the tea party were extremists.
She was a smug, smarmy individual, who said Obama would be voted back in.
If England wants him they can have him. I’ll even chip in for the plane ticket as long as it is one way with barred re-entry.
I usually don’t reference anything Obama says such as his “calls for civility” because, for the most part, any of these statements he makes are lies.
He has no desire for civility. He encourages racism, violence and demeaning rhetoric. Toward conservatives….
The only time he will have anything to say about labels of terrorist, jihad and so on is if someone calls him or his minions terrorists. He will have none of that. As ironic as that is.
Labels like terrorists, jihad and phrases like “blow up the economy” are in free use over at the NYSlimes. You should see some of the comments. The readers there actually believe gov’t spending and taxing stimulates the economy. They are also arguing that it’s not true that 50% of Americans don’t pay taxes. Well… we say “don’t pay FEDERAL income taxes”.
They are going on and on about FICA, sales tax, gas tax, cig tax, user fees, property taxes.
they don’t get it.
Then some of them are complaining about how unfair it is that something like 10% of American possess 47%, or whatever % it is… of the wealth in this country.
Unfair…. yeah. They are pretty much saying… “Gimmme some of your stuff.. because I want it!”
I know a person who collects social security, food stamps and I believe welfare, as well as subsidized housing, who said that it wasn’t fair that they have to drive a car like a little Toyota. That they should be getting a nice car like a BMW or a Benz.
This from a person who chooses to do all sorts of activities for leisure but claims not to have the energy to hold down a full time job. ANY full time job.
And yeah. The people who decide what she gets from the gov’t know full well what she’s up to.
All of it is sickening.
Obama is partly black…the skin part. The rest of him is the same as we are. Except, of course, that he is a Chicago thug mafia-style criminal who should be in jail, not out there destroying the last best hope for this world. Other than that, he is just like us. Except for his skin color, that is.
Half black, half white. Is that kind of like Half empty, half full? Nobody knows.
Obama and his band of bigots want the Tea Party to be labeled as extremists, racists, and terrorists. The good thing is they are not so they can pretty much ignore them.
The true bigots are the ones who make those unfounded accusations. They are truly reprehensible in every sense. They will see their house of cards built on lies and racism come tumbling down. Right will triumph over evil.
Remember in November!
Yep. Remember in November.
That is, until your Pennywise is opposed by Bozo and you swear you have to elect Pennywise to keep Bozo out.

Dow Jones just spoke loudly and clearly about the impact ofthe “debt deal.”
Down 265 points.
“Right” better get a spine and grow some stones. I saw no evidence of either the last 6 weeks.
that’s right rwr–come on; down here we all float…
Thanks for the offer but we’ve got enough useless articles of our own.
How the people of the USA got taken in by Obama amazes me, when he was up for election I thought he’d been sent down from heaven to put the world to rights, he was treated as though he was the messiah here. But I take a liberty knocking the people of the USA when here they also thought Blair was the second coming, so much so they elected Labour in 3 times, even after all the damage. Not me I might add, saw through him same as I did Obama, empty vessels, who hate their country and are out to get rich on our backs, Blair, from a lowly inadequate lawyer is now a multi-millionaire, and he’s hated. Too late now with all the damage he has done. I will not vote for either labour, conservative or liberals because they’re all exactly the same.
Hopefully I’m wrong for the sake of the USA but it would never surprise me if Obama was re-elected.
Wow.
At the moment, I had not considered the totality of my reference’s relevance.
This is exactly what these people think of us – that we are just a bunch of slimy turds floating around in the sewer of their world – and we let them.
More food for thought, indeed.
This is why Tea Party Federalism MUST prevail.

Jonah Goldberg’s piece was spot on. And here is an eye opener.
A comment over at RightMichigan. The gal was a journalist all over the world while her hubby was in the service. She said she has never seen such out and out liberal bias and stretching of the truth in all her years covering the news. Interesting point she made about her journalism school – their motto was: “Don’t get it right – get it done”. She assumed at the time it was meeting dead line – now she knows exactly what they meant – literally.
Indeed, the worst part is that there are those among us who are content to let them. Come Election Day, you will see it happen all over again. Nose-holders everywhere preaching that it’s so important to keep the Democrats’ version of Big Government out that the Republicans’ version of the SAME Big Government must be let in.
Remember The Electric Company in November. It will do you much more good.

Shouldn’t be so amazing, with an adoring media enabling him while utterly trashing his opponents VP candidate, an opportunity for the liberals to elect the first African American to the presidency, “clean and articulate” but with practically no executive experience and little or no record of legislative accomplishment, a poorly educated and government dependent base willing to call him their savior and expecting to get a piece of his stash, and a bungling opponent who ran a spectacularly horrid campaign.
Not so amazing at all.
Meanwhile, while we weren’t looking…
Protecting Children from Internet Pornographers Act of 2011
This… is not… defensible.
Always, always when they want to steal away individual liberty, they do it in the name of “the chillllldren”.
It was pretty simple.
*Teh Won was never vetted by the LSM.
*Blacks & young folks were enamored w/ the possibility of electing the first black president.
*Teh Won gave eloquent speeches that said absolutely nothing.
*His comments regarding how he was going to put coal-fired electric plants out of business were not taken seriously by those who pay the bills and were absolutely loved by the Watermelons (you know, green on the outside, red on the inside).
But thanks to him, the Tea Party movement has exploded.
And Hobbits have long memories.
LOL! Yeah, it’s still primarily known as a black cultural reference (unfortunately. I can’t stand seeing people wear them in public–sooo stupid).
I get that. It just gets frustrating. It’s like you get no rest on any side (it feels like). But hey! It’s all good. It comes with the territory and I hope to change the perceptions long term by how I comport myself and how my kids behave.
I liked Jonah Goldberg’s response. And as always, Michelle, you’ve got our backs.
But really, nothing has changed since the very beginning of the Tea Party Movement – spending is still out of control, and the politicians and media are still calling us nasty names.
See my first Tea Party sign from 2009 and how it relates to this subject at A Bit of Tea Party History – Not Much Has Changed.
The problem with this rather tedious whine is that it doesn’t comport with the facts: (1 2 3 equate to President, Senate and House)
As you can see, deficits jumped under Bush, mostly as a result of the Clinton recession and 9/11 (Yeah, I know it was all Bush’s fault) and then decreased until you idiots managed to turn Congress back over to the Democrats:
What we want to do, contrary to your usual slurs, is to replace “big government” Republicans with conservatives via the primary process, and replace Democrats with conservatives in the general elections. What we don’t want to do is allow a few splinter whiners to talk more people into voting third party and allowing them to split the conservative vote, which will result in the election of more Democrats – a result deeply desired both by the Democrats and certain of the splinter party whiners on this blog.
Forgot. The above chart was taken from this website. Don’t know what his politics are, it just happened to be the first one that popped up with the right info.
The House Crash Dummy (Pelosi) and her ilk may get the last laugh. We all need to read the obamanation in the health care bill. There are so many tax scams on Americans you won’t believe what you see. The bend over stimulus failure bill also has already put in motion several new taxes no one is talking about. Drones like Lois Capp (Dem. Calif.) rammed these taxes through while the rest of the morons were posturing. Hey look at me… (I’m pretty…That dress really doesn’t go with those shoes Harry)
That is awesome. I think that is the very definition of ‘living by example’.
Oh, and I don’t like it when mrcakes wears his bandana in public–it’s a bit rubbish. But he sure is cute in it! LOL
Ok, how about this will will swap you for Obama….
Obama can not be civil. The Alynsky teachings are ingrained in his being. This last “negotiation” was an Alynsky fight of the highest order. It wasn’t even about the outcome today. It was setting the stage for the reelection of Obama and more Dem majorities in Congress. The name calling, the labeling, the setting the discourse was what Obama was doing.
Remember, Democrats do not want to cut spending. Ever. Evvveeerr! That is what they live for. Look at this deal. Obama did not cut spending.
They only pretend to cut spending and care about spending when it benefits them politically. Cuuting SS and medicare do not benefit them so they talk about “protecting” the elderly and the children. They believe there is plenty of wealth to pay for all that they want. They will take it from greedy rich people who do not deserve it.
So all this talk about spending cuts was never going to be done by Dems and guess what, the debt deal increases spending. Imagine that. Only in DC can you increase spending and then say to the American people you cut spending. Its like my business buying fewer office supplies while we increase the purchases of kitchen supplies and tell the board we cut spending. Its false and misleading.
They just separated the spending categories so the largest spending categories like medicare would be excluded from the formula. WTF? Civility is the face you show in public. Alynsky is the face you have all the other times.
C’mon, is anybody surprised? Like literally anything else a liberal says, it’s all done for show, polls and political advantage; not out of meaning it. These people are empty soulless little shells.
Phil….I’m still waiting for the link to where I said I wanted Scott Brown to be POTUS. If you can’t find one, I want an apology.
happy,
I’m
